First part introduces theological, traditional and modern context. This is followed by study on possible connections between ritual and liturgy and also possible contribution of modern ritual studies to the theology of liturgy is presented. Another part of this dissertation discuses opportunity of preaching gospel in the specific situation of funeral services. The situation of funeral is understood as a situation which deserves pastoral care and keeping a company to the mourning. On the other hand possibility to care is understood as opportunity to confess ones faith as a witness of Resurrected Christ. After marking out all these bases, there are liturgical and homiletical aspects of...

Joyce, philosophy and the drama of authorshipRaffan, Mary January 2014 (has links)
This thesis will examine the representation, consequence and transformation of the idea of authorship in the work of James Joyce and suggest a way of re-addressing the contentious question of authorship. While postmodern criticism has emphasised the “revolutionary” cultural and political ramifications of Joyce’s response and the ways that his work has helped to deconstruct this question for modernity and postmodernity, this thesis will trace the ideas and ideologies, individuals and characters, historical, cultural and biographical circumstances that contributed to both the prominence and the hermeneutical consequence of the question of authorship in Joyce’s work. Highlighting Joyce’s awareness of and fascination with the multivalency of a question shaped by theological, historical, political, philosophical, philological, epistemological, methodological and hermeneutical ideas as well as literary representations, it will examine Joyce’s reformulation and response to this question through four pervasive models of authorship in his work: critic, philosopher, bard and theologian. While each chapter will make a distinction between these models in order to analyse their characteristics and significance, as a way of tracing not only the evolution of these models but also the complex network of interrelation that is established between these distinctive but also intertwining ideas of authorship, the thesis will be structured historically, biographically and “ergographically” (in Barthes’ definition of an ‘ergography’) as well as thematically. As a way of approaching the ideologically overdetermined concept of authorship, but also avoiding another postmodern “renaming” of this concept, these models will be proffered in order to examine the construction, fabrication and invention as well as the deconstruction of the idea of authorship and the representation of the role of the author in fiction, culture, society and history in the work of Joyce. The “drama” of authorship will be interpreted in terms of Joyce’s fictional and hermeneutic dramatisation of the role and idea of the author, but also in terms of the consequence of Joyce’s interest in and early idealisation of the genre of drama. This thesis will finally suggest that Joyce’s “failure” to become a dramatist and engagement with philosophical analyses of this genre contributed significantly to his deconstruction, reconstruction and dramatisation of the role and “exagmination” of the author. The thesis as a whole will delineate how each of these four models gradually becomes more distinctive but simultaneously also inextricable from a variegated template that is only methodologically divided into four parts; the four exegetes in Finnegans Wake inconspicuously multiply. The first three chapters will follow the attempt outlined in Joyce’s early draft of the Portrait ‘to liberate from the personalised lumps of matter that which is their individuating rhythm, the first or formal relation of their parts’- the growing self-consciousness of the artist’s understanding of his role(s) as an artist and of the idea(s) of authorship. In the last two chapters that will look at Ulysses and Finnegans Wake these four models will be more clearly differentiated although the growing theatricality in their portrayal and widening nexus of relations will complicate and indeed undermine the idea of a “model”.

Previous issue date: 2017-02-13 / This work was carried out in order to understand the use of music and its therapeutic
elements; Techniques and procedures used within the Neo-Pentecostal liturgical
process. It was aimed at the verification of a religious process, which approximates in
a similar way a therapeutic process, and which reinforces and demonstrates aspects
already proposed by religion, which can make sense of life, nomia, resignification,
salvation and healing in people who are They find themselves in a situation of
vulnerability and emotional, spiritual and even physical fragility, thus covering the
eschatological and anthropological dimensions. In another sphere, we observed and
evidenced some techniques and methods of music therapy, used in the cults, that
potentiate the dynamics that religion offers. In our methodology, in addition to the
observations of various meetings and gatherings of Neo-Pentecostal communities,
both in person and in social media, we also participate in specific events with an
emphasis on healing and liberation, called 'Encounter with God' or 'Tremendous
Encounter' . From an informal perspective, it was possible to hear testimonies from
believers and religious leaders participating in these events in order to discuss the
existence or not of music therapy resources in the liturgies of such meetings, but with
the aim of collecting data to tabulate and analyze Comparatively the same.
Considering that our object is the observation of music therapy resources and their use
in the liturgy of these communities, a vast amount of material was also read on social
media, blogs, TV and the internet. In addition, we use part of neopentecostal
confessional literature and the science of religion, psychology, music therapy, music
and anthropology. These contents were configured as sources for understanding how
the technical elements of music and music therapy can enhance the dynamics already
offered by religion.
utilizados, dentro do processo litúrgico Neopentecostal.
física, abrangendo assim as dimensões escatológicas e antropológicas.

Previous issue date: 2015-02-02 / This study aims to elucidate the reformed liturgy in the Presbyterian Church of Brazil
(IPB) between the years from 1964 to 1978, seen by a historical bias, especially from
the following documents: Liturgy Principles (PL), Constitution of the IPB, Service
Manual, Presbyterian Digest, and other Reformed documents. The target of the
research is to present the historical reasons whom the Presbyterian liturgy was
changed during the military dictatorship considering the standard established by the
Presbyterian Church of Brazil. Thus, two questions guided this research: a The
Presbyterian liturgy reacted facing the authoritarian of civil-military dictatorship?; b
Or the Presbyterian liturgy was adapted due the misfortunes of the military regime?
Thus, before the closing of the socio-political and religious structures, spirituality
arising from this period was hostage of the military coup. The liturgical expression of
IPB was held most of the times in favor of the military regime. Our primary objective
is to demonstrate the reasons why the Presbyterian liturgy was transformed
considering the standard established by the IPB s tradition.
Desse modo, duas
refém do golpe militar.
vezes a favor do regime militar. Nosso objetivo fundamental é demonstrar as razões

Previous issue date: 2012-04-26 / This work addresses the relationshiop between the Liturgy and the Eclesiastical Architecture of the township of São Paulo. Its frame time dwells within the pré II Vatican Council period. It was a time in which the Catholic Church had had a difficult relationship with the modern world. Let us not forget that during this period some movements within the Church were in search of a greater dialogue with the great cultural movements of the modern world. As a result, we may say that the aforementioned modern architecture has contributed, to some extent, to the purpose of the so called Liturgical Movement, as its aim was to lead the faithful to a major participation within the liturgical celebrations / O presente trabalho aborda as relações entre a liturgia e a arquitetura eclesiástica na cidade de São Paulo na época que antecede ao Concílio Vaticano II.

Previous issue date: 2012-05-16 / ADVENIAT / This research aims to reflect on the presence of Eucharistic liturgy on television with focus on
the broadcasted Mass. The reflection on the sacramental liturgy of the Eucharist on TV is in
the historical context of this media, highlighting its concepts anchored to journalism, which is
seen as the reason for every media action. In a first moment, the intention is to show the
current reality of the TV considering that journalism has given in to the commercialization of
information and, in addition, to highlight the concern about broadcasting the sacred liturgy in
this sort of environment as well as its ethical consequences. Having the industrial period as
the historical context from which TV emerged, the study shows the internal dynamics of this
media, its production and relation with the viewers. In the second stage, the research provides
the context of the sacred liturgy of the Church, showing fundamental concepts such as rite,
cult, celebration, the Eucharist, the Table of God s Word, participation, sacraments and
sacramentals, communion, communication, validity, identity, community, presence,
assembly, time, space and others, coming from ecclesiastical documents of divine worship in
communication. Finally, based on research conducted with Catholic viewers, the object of
study is analyzed drawing a parallel between contributions of the authors who observe media
culture, the guidance documents of the Church, and the appreciation of survey respondents
about Eucharistic celebration on television, standing out on the horizon of evangelization a
privileged means for this type of TV program / O objetivo desta pesquisa é refletir a presença da liturgia eucarística no espaço da televisão,
A partir do contexto histórico do período
programa televisivo

Previous issue date: 2013-05-28 / At the advent of 15th anniversary commemoration of canonization of Saint
Theresa Benedicta of the Cross, Edith Stein, (22.05.1997 - 22.05.2013), there is an urgent
need to systematize her liturgical thoughts, at the postgraduate stricto sensu level. The
synthesis of this Carmelite theologian s thought is focused on her affirmation that the liturgy
is the Church s prayer, of the living Christ. From this starting point, the ways are made
towards a conclusion that to participate, to live, to celebrate and to be in union with the filial
prayer of Jesus of Nazareth, the Christ, nucleus and the vivificant principle of the liturgical
rites of the Christian community, means to restore and to bring to epiphany the dignity of son
and daughters of God. It is to reestablish and to teach how to live fraternal relationships and
