POÉTICAS VISUAIS EM CONSTRUÇÃO: A METAMORFOSE EXPRESSIVA DA CRIANÇA E A EDUCAÇÃO (DO) SENSÍVEL / UNDER COSTRUCTION VISUAL POETICS: THE EXPRESSIVE METAMORPHOSIS OF THE CHILD AND THE EDUCATION OF SENSORIAL ASPECTS

Schneider, Letícia Uhmann 17 May 2007 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This research, linked to the Teaching Post-Graduating Course, Arts Educational field, has been developed in a third (3rd) grade class of the Antônio Alves Ramos school, at the city of Santa Maria, RS. Aimed to know and analyze the under constructing creative process of the Initial Years children, providing time and space to the poetic action-experience, in the interacting with the education of the sensorial aspects. For that, articulates a dialogue with voices and ideas of Bachelard (1988, 1989, 1994), Richter (2005), Duarte Jr. (2001), Martins(1998), Maturana and Varela (2002) and Barbosa (2001, 2002). The methodology used in the research was based in the qualitative nature principles by the action-research. Presents itself as participant research, sustained by experiences of art poetics and fruition of daily school experience, emphasizing the imaginary, the creative process and dimension of being a person, not just the final artistic product. The instruments used for gathering data for this research were participative and free observation, field diary and portfolio. For that, in the creative process of children visual poetics, became obvious that the body carries a history - body time - and we can not teach them how to see, imagine, think or act like the adults. The act of creation demanded differentiated times, since each child understood the world in a different way, in their inexperience - another time aspect - admired, enamored, wondered, curious. The under constructing visual poetics allow with pleasure, internal discoveries which feed the person essence in a way to be able to feel, touch, mix, stick together, shape, plot, collect. Therefore, work with art is to believe in the tuning between pleasure and feeling, emotion and thought to construct a world of significance and significants. A world of colors, words, thoughts and actions, where art and knowledge interact on the poetic work and collaborate significantly in childish formation.

Origine de la signalisation thyroïdienne chez les métazoaires et implication dans leur métamorphose / Origin of thyroid hormone signalling in metazoans and implications in their metamorphosis

Holzer, Guillaume 16 December 2015 (has links)
Metamorphosis is a critical life step of many metazoans. It is defined as the transition between a larva and a juvenile. It comes with major changes of morphology, physiology and ecology. The role of thyroid hormone has been proven in the metamorphosis of amphibians but also in many other chordates such as teleost fishes or the amphioxus. This suggests that this system was functional and involved in the metamorphosis of the common ancestor of all chordates. We studied the link between thyroid hormones and metamorphosis according to two axes. First, we studied the coordination between metamorphosis and the larval colonization, using the convicted surgeon fish Acanthurus triostegus as a model. This work allowed us to better understand the role of thyroid hormones as a trigger signal of a major ecological transition. On the second axis, we investigated the origin of thyroid hormone signalization. In the annelid Platynereis dumerilii, we identified a functional thyroid hormone receptor and a role of TH in its development. This proves that thyroid hormone signaling was present at the basis of bilaterians. We also assessed the question of the origin of thyroid hormone synthesis by tracing back the evolution of the thyroglobulin, the protein mandatory for thyroid hormone synthesis in vertebrates. It absence in the other taxa, whereas thyroid hormone derivatives have a biological role, asks the question of the ancestral mechanisms of thyroid hormone synthesis. These works investigate the evolution of the thyroid hormone signalization and suggest to tackle the question of the link with metamorphosis from an evolutionary perspective, and not only from a developmental one, in order to better understand the diversity of metamorphosis overserved in the animal kingdom.

The Effects of Glyphosate-based Herbicides on the Development of Wood Frogs, Lithobates sylvaticus

Lanctôt, Chantal January 2012 (has links)
Amphibians develop in aquatic environments where they are very susceptible to the effects of pesticides and other environmental contaminants. Glyphosate-based herbicides are widely used and have been shown to affect survival and development of tadpoles under laboratory conditions. The goal my thesis is to determine if agriculturally relevant exposure to Roundup WeatherMax®, a herbicide formulation containing the potassium salt of glyphosate and an undisclosed surfactant, influences the survival and development of wood frogs tadpoles (Lithobates sylvaticus) under both laboratory and field conditions. In the field, experimental wetlands were divided in half using an impermeable curtain so that each wetland contained a treatment and control side. Tadpoles were exposed to two pulses of this herbicide at environmentally realistic concentration (ERC, 0.21 mg acid equivalent (a.e.)/L) and predicted environmental concentrations (PEC, 2.89 mg a.e./L), after which survival, growth, development, and expression of genes involved in metamorphosis were measured. Results indicate that exposure to the PEC is extremely toxic to tadpoles under laboratory conditions but not under field conditions. Results from both experimental conditions show sublethal effects on growth and development, and demonstrate that ERC of glyphosate-based herbicides have the potential to alter hormonal responses during metamorphosis. My secondary objectives were to compare the effects of Roundup WeatherMax® to the well-studied Vision® formulation (containing the isopropylamine (IPA) salt of glyphosate and POEA), and to determine which ingredient(s) are responsible for the sublethal effects on development. Survival, growth and gene expression results indicate that Roundup WeatherMax® has greater toxicity than Vision® formulation. Contrary to my prediction, results suggest that, under realistic exposure scenarios, POEA is not the sole ingredient responsible for the observed developmental effects. However, my results demonstrate that chronic exposure to the POEA surfactant at the PEC (1.43 mg/L) is extremely toxic to wood frog tadpoles in laboratory. As part of the Long-term Experimental Wetlands Area (LEWA) project, this research contributes to overall knowledge of the impacts of glyphosate-based herbicides on aquatic communities.

Métamorphoses hallucinatoires et mutations des personnages dans les romans d’Amin Maalouf / Hallucinatory metamorphosis and mutations of the characters in Amin Maalouf’s fictions

Meslet, Sandrine 13 May 2014 (has links)
Amin Maalouf’s novels offer a special treatment of the character beyond the usual scope of its analysis. The object of all attention and excesses, the character reflects all issues operating within the fiction. Thus we find in Amin Maalouf’s fiction a sort of contamination, even a release of the character to other authorities. Throughout the novel these authorities extend adopt traits of the main character as personifications. They extend its presence their presence, occupy the fiction in their turn and try to leave a poetic mark.Metamorphoses and successive mutations, of which the novel is the subject, just relay its presence, giving it a new dimension. Increasing its appurtenances and its origins, fiction offers a journey through the many facets of character that allow it to return to its original nature. Facing movement, aspiring to redefine itself through other textual authorities, the character stands out as a true romantic agent. The thesis proposes to reveal precisely the proponents of these metamorphosis and mutations of fictions to highlight the infinite extensions that contribute to the development of a singular poetic.

Beyeler, Anna 11 December 2009 (has links)
Throughout the course of metamorphosis, amphibians undergo a complete anatomical and physiological reorganization. In Xenopus laevis, the locomotor system is one of the most affected during this developmental phase where the animal passes from undulatory swimming to limb-based propulsion. This transformation implies a parallel reorganization of the central locomotor network. In an initial study we showed that axial muscles which are activated in bilateral alternation in tadpoles mature to dorsal muscles that are synchronously active during adult locomotion. We found that this new pattern, accompanied by coordination of dorsal and hindlimb muscle activities, is principally sustained by the development of new propriospinal lumbo-thoracic projections, suggesting proactive postural control coming from the hindlimb CPG during ongoing locomotion. In a second study, we examined the influence of disequilibrium in vestibular inputs on the metamorphic development of the spinal locomotor network. To induce this sensory asymmetry we performed unilateral removal of vestibular end organs either before or after metamorphosis. Acutely, in both cases, the lesion induced dramatic postural and locomotor changes. Chronically, the lesion altered the metamorphic development of the lumbo-thoracic network on the lesioned side, concomitantly with compensation for locomotor defects. Interestingly, animals lesioned after metamorphosis neither compensated nor expressed this developmental spinal plasticity. Altogether, these results suggest that descending sensory inputs are crucial cues for the development of the spinal locomotor network. Finally, we studied the metamorphic development of the supra-spinal network, focusing our attention on the locomotor triggering and control properties of the mesencephalic locomotor region (MLR). We showed that both subparts of this structure, the laterodorsal tegmentum (LDT) and the pedunculopontine (PPN) nuclei, are present and functional during the entire period of metamorphosis and that the PPN has an optimal activation frequency of 10-20 Hz.

Makeup as a medium, object of study and plastic experimentation

Lecomte, Sophie 11 May 2011 (has links)
Makeup is a composition which when applied to the skin gives it more brightness or hides a physical defect. Accused of cheating, a futile or diabolical instrument, which paint has been compared, make-up is defined by its function but has lost nothing through this. The plastic arts experience allows study of make-up because it is colored and this helps determine its specific properties and plastic possibilities. This research aims to establish the details of a relationship between makeup, color and the body, using several videos to characterize it as a medium based on personal practice.

Evaluation of the Developmental Effects and Bioaccumulation Potential of Triclosan and Triclocarban Using the South African Clawed Frog, Xenopus Laevis

King, Marie Kumsher 12 1900 (has links)
Triclosan (TCS) and triclocarban (TCC) are antimicrobials found in U.S. surface waters. This dissertation assessed the effects of TCS and TCC on early development and investigated their potential to bioaccumulate using Xenopus laevis as a model. The effects of TCS on metamorphosis were also investigated. For 0-week tadpoles, LC50 values for TCS and TCC were 0.87 mg/L and 4.22 mg/L, respectively, and both compounds caused a significant stunting of growth. For 4-week tadpoles, the LC50 values for TCS and TCC were 0.22 mg/L and 0.066 mg/L; and for 8-week tadpoles, the LC50 values were 0.46 mg/L and 0.13 mg/L. Both compounds accumulated in Xenopus. For TCS, wet weight bioaccumulation factors (BAFs) for 0-, 4- and 8-week old tadpoles were 23.6x, 1350x and 143x, respectively. Lipid weight BAFs were 83.5x, 19792x and 8548x. For TCC, wet weight BAFs for 0-, 4- and 8-week old tadpoles were 23.4x, 1156x and 1310x. Lipid weight BAFs were 101x, 8639x and 20942x. For the time-to-metamorphosis study, TCS showed an increase in weight and snout-vent length in all treatments. Exposed tadpoles metamorphosed approximately 10 days sooner than control tadpoles. For the hind limb study, although there was no difference in weight, snout-vent length, or hind limb length, the highest treatment was more developed compared to the control. There were no differences in tail resorption rates between the treatments and controls. At relevant concentrations, neither TCS nor TCC were lethal to Xenopus prior to metamorphosis. Exposure to relatively high doses of both compounds resulted in stunted growth, which would most likely not be evident at lower concentrations. TCS and TCC accumulated in Xenopus, indicating that the compound has the potential to bioaccumulate through trophic levels. Although TCS may increase the rate of metamorphosis in terms of developmental stage, it did not disrupt thyroid function and metamorphosis in regards to limb development and tail resorption.

Pseudo-vergiliovská báseň Ciris: Tkaní jako narativní technika (studie a prozaický překlad) / The pseudo-Vergilian Poem Ciris: Weaving as Narrative Technique (study and prosaique translation)

Filipová, Nikola January 2021 (has links)
This thesis deals with translation and interpretation of pseudovergilian epyllion Ciris, which tells a story of traitorous princess of Megara, Scylla, who betrays her father Nísos by cutting off his magical purple lock. With it she surrenders the entire city to the enemy Minos in order to secure his love. Her plan ultimately fails and as a result she is transformed into a brand new bird named the ciris. The first part of the thesis provides a literary-theoretical study of the epyllion based on comparison with the sources of the myth and other latin poems, as it seems as if Ciris was composed by an anonymous young disciple in a late latin cento style but only published in his older age. Some ascribe it to young Virgil or Cornelius Gallus. In the course of the study the following questions will be answered: Is Scylla's transformation a liberation or punishment for her crime? What is the role of nutrix in the epyllion and what is her literary origin? How does the author deal with the weaving metaphore? The second part of the thesis offers a first prosaic translation of Ciris into czech language with a humble commentary where deemed necessary.

Opus Alchemicum : Of myths and affects / Opus Alchemicum

Orlandi, Beatrice January 2014 (has links)
Opus Alchemicum explores the fabrication of “reality” upon imagination, and the affective relation between ideas and matter in the built environment. Like an alchemic experiment, through the manipulation of real facts and their transformation into myth, stories, rituals and objects, the project tries to demonstrate how myths are not just produced but also produce “real” by creating a collective understanding and a pattern of relations, roles and ideas. This project’s attempt is to reveal the mechanisms of reality in an act of analogy. The role of architecture, buildings and objects is investigated in its transfigured correspondent. Myths are both constructed and revealed as the language code of a discourse. The result is a work of alchemy, a product of imagination as a path of understanding. The project starts with traveling to Romania as a study case, in a journey where encounters and empathy win over maps and scheduled visits. What I bring back with me is a series of situations, assemblages, a pattern of history, places, culture and affections belonging to the very present of Romania. These situations are plunged in another larger assemblage, the European one, with Sweden as a partaker. In this country’s desires and metamorphoses we can discover those myths that belong and affect our culture and our spaces.  Opus Alchemicum is a tale about myths, behavior and built environment. About Romania, or somewhere else. About ruins and gold. About invisible values and material affects. About a vanished land, about desire and nostalgia. About displacement, diaspora and costumes. About migration. About a journey and the gas station at the mid of the road. About metamorphoses, gypsy palaces and dowries. About matter, produced, traded and extinguished. About Prussian Blue and honey. About a tower, a fountain and a secret garden. About the alchemic process of making reality out of ideas.
