Akouété épouse Hounsinou, madoué Florentine 11 1900 (has links)
This study focuses on the relevance and feasibility using Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) for in-service training of qualified teachers of secondary general public school in Republic of Benin through a distance education program. There were two specific objectives: the identification and analysis of in-service training needs of teachers and the study of administrative procedures, educational and technological development of such a program in the context of Republic of Benin. The population of the study was made up of 1 488 qualified teachers and a sample of 278 teachers representing them in general secondary public education of the Republic of Benin. The research was conducted on the basis of the implementation of two types of questionnaire. We used the Nominal Group Technique (NGT) to generate a data bank for designing a questionnaire to collect information from qualified teachers, and three questionnaires based on the Delphi Technique were submitted to 13 experts from the Beninese education system. It was found that a future in-service training program on distance education for secondary school teachers should include mainly the following three themes, in order of priority: 1. Information Technologies and Communications; 2. Teaching methods; 3. Specific subject areas. Experts from the Beninese education system used the Delphi Technique and established a list of 23 items corresponding to the administrative procedures, and teaching techniques for the implementation of training. Analysis of the results of the Delphi technique and the answers of the questionnaire to teachers showed that the use/integration of a variety of media to transmit knowledge and support learning is very necessary. The results of the research also showed that teachers in general secondary education need continuing education which can be facilitated by the use of distance education with the aid of ICT. An organizational model of in-service training based on the use of ICT has been suggested.

Zum Einsatz von Likert-Skalen im betrieblichen Bildungscontrolling

Bank, Volker, Schaal, Sam F. 13 September 2010 (has links) (PDF)

Labella-Sánchez, Natalia January 2016 (has links)
This qualitative research focuses on the design and conceptualization of learning materials aimed at the teaching of Spanish for specific purposes based on genres for the subsequent modality course of a Federal Institute in the southern of Brazil: the course of Technician in Real Estate. Because vocational education courses aim to train and professionally qualify students, they provide the right context for the teaching of languages for specific purposes (LSP). For courses of LSP, it is essential to carry out a needs analysis that supports the design and conceptualization of learning materials aimed to meet the specific professional and academic needs of students (HUTCHINSON; WATERS, 1996). Thus, with the intent to conceptualize a didactic proposal for the teaching of Spanish based on genres for vocational education courses, the concept of genres have been considered since the needs analysis stage in the research. The theoretical foundations used to support such an analysis come from the Rhetorical Genre Studies, specially, the theoretical and methodological proposal of the study of activity systems (BAZERMAN, 2005) to identify and comprehend the genres that circulate in a specific socio-communicative context. For the stage of analysis and didactization of the characteristics of the identified genres, the theoretical and methodological framework of the Sociodiscursive Interactionism (SDI) has been used, more specifically the proposal of didactization of language capacities needed for the production and/or consumption of genres, based on the production of didactic sequences (SCHNEUWLY, 1998; 2004; DOLZ; SCHNEUWLY, 1998; SCHNEUWLY; DOLZ, 2004a, DOLZ; NOVERRAZ; SCHNEUWLY, 2004). The corpus was generated through surveys and semi-structured interviews, field notes and the gathering of exemplars of genres. Among the methodological procedures adopted to analyse the activity systems of the real estate agents, Bazerman’s methodological proposal (2005) and the techniques and procedures of grounded theory to code, categorize and relate pieces of information were used (STRAUSS; CORBIN, 2008; CHARMAZ, 2009). In relation to the analysis of the didactic characteristics of the genres identified, the methodological suggestions of the SDI framework were used (DOLZ; SCHNEUWLY, 1998; CRISTOVÃO et al., 2010; CRISTOVÃO; STUTZ, 2011). The findings indicate that the analysis of the activity systems of real estate agents of Porto Alegre and the identification of the genres in Spanish that can be used by such professionals, to engage with Hispanic-speaker clients, generated relevant informative subsidy to: (a) know the language capacities, especially those of the pre-textual level of analysis, that constitute the genres in Spanish; (b) guide the design of Spanish teaching material for real estate agents based on didactic sequences; (c) produce instructions and activities that explore the language capacities characteristic of genres based on the socio-communicative situations needed for their production and/or consumption. The study allowed the conclusion that the relation of intersection and complementarity between the study of activity systems (BAZERMAN, 2005) and the proposal of didactization of SDI have potential to subsidize the design of learning materials for the teaching of languages for specific purposes. This research is a case study (STAKE, 1998; YIN, 2009) and was used for data collection, instruments such as questionnaires, semi-structured interviews, and document on the Tourism Course. To this end, it was adopted the theoretical basis for the constructs of English for Specific Purposes (ESP) Ingl?s para Fins Espec?ficos (IFE) in Brazil, also known as Ingl?s Instrumental, whose foundation is based on the work by Hutchinson and Waters (1987), Robinson (1991), Dudley-Evans and St. John (1998), Celani, Deyes, Holmes, Scott (2006), among others, since this work is devoted to a specific area, Tourism. Results show that students opined the ability to prioritize reading and speaking into the classroom. Professionals reported that the latter is an indispensable tool for entering the labor market, yet they feel unprepared and need to attend English language courses in private language schools. The testimony of company executives also point to this deficiency. Finally, the present situation of teachers reveals that, while advocating the use of English in the classroom, this is not because students prefer their mother tongue. There is also an evident lack of needs analysis. Eventually, the coordinator said that there is some uncertainty as to the methodology, content and language skills worked, and the lack of interaction among teachers of English.

The impact of problem-based learning methodology on learners of English for Academic Medical Purpose / L'impact de l'approche d'apprentissage par problèmes sur les apprenants de l'anglais académique médical

Zarrouk, Hajer 12 September 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to consider the implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) as an epistemologically sound teaching methodology to teach English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and particularly English for Academic Medical Purposes (EAMP). The study examined whether PBL is compatible with language teaching and determined the benefits that this methodology can bring to ESP. The study also attempted to solve problems with English learning that were identified in the Preparatory Year Health Colleges (Female Branch) within Hail University, Saudi Arabia. A needs analysis was conducted in the institution to examine the English learning situation and better identify these learning problems. Then PBL was implemented to determine if it provided a possible solution to the issue. This entailed a change in the macro-methodological and micro-methodological levels, as Demaizière (1996) called ‘le niveau macromethodologique’ and ‘le niveau micromethodologique’ (p.66). In the empirical part of this study, a longitudinal study was conducted with 13 students who were observed through a period of 8 weeks and over five PBL tutorials, which took place over fifteen sessions. During these fifteen sessions, learners’ behaviors or indicators of autonomy were observed at the group level for the first and third session of each PBL tutorial and at the individual level in session 2. In general, the results favored the implementation of this approach in teaching English for Academic Medical Purposes (EAMP). They also showed that PBL can improve learners’ autonomy; enable learners to develop learning strategies; help learners harness their language skills; and learn content oriented to their field.

Language policies for adult migrants in Cantabria (Spain) : a pluringual approach ?

Martínez, Jesús 04 July 2014 (has links)
There is currently a considerable number of instruments that specify the principles and the mechanisms favorable to implement a policy for encouraging linguistic integration of adult migrants in Europe. This thesis examines these tools and tries to show their relevance in the case of the autonomous community of Cantabria in Spain, a region that has seen its foreign population increased dramatically and unusually during the early years of this century. A study on the situation of existing language courses for adults migrants in the region was conducted. The document which combines data collection procedures was subsequently analyzed taking into account a group of variables considered essential. The work also includes a series of proposals that constitue an invitation to adopt a multilingual approach in order to address the issue of linguistic training and integration of adult migrants. The primary recipient of this work is the language policy setters in the region. However, this thesis also intends to have as recipients any professional working in one way or another on the linguistic integration of adult migrants, particularly those seeking to improve the quality of the systems implemented or devising new plans for territories where there is lack of these programmes.

Langue des affaires : Vers une application à la didactique du Français sur Objectifs Spécifiques au Liban / Business Language applied to the didactic of French for Specific Purposes in Lebanon

Atallah Chamoun, Pétra 04 December 2014 (has links)
My aim to provide a new concept in teaching French at a Lebanese university is the result of extensive research on French for Specific Purposes based on the Common European Framework for Languages as well as my concern of providing support based on valuable years of experience and many seminars followed in this field. All of those factors contributed to my endeavor to make a worthy attempt at combining theory with practice. My whole work rests on a belief I have long sustained if students could find a language course that would meet their academic or professional needs, they would be keener on learning that language. While studying the methodology adapted by French for Specific Purposes, carrying out a sociolinguistic analysis of the Lebanese community, and analyzing the linguistic needs of the Lebanese students, I managed to come up with a new concept for teaching Business French and to devise a different didactic approach that would be more effective when put into practice.

L’enseignement du français de l’hôtellerie et du tourisme dans les universités publiques kenyanes / Teaching of Hospitality and Tourism French in Public Universities in Kenya

Otieno, Gladys 26 November 2015 (has links)
This study focuses on the larger sphere of non-general French and more precisely on French for specific purposes targeting the hospitality and tourism sector. Its objective is to show to what extent the French for hospitality and tourism courses offered in Kenyan public universities meet the needs of learners. The study takes a learner centred systemic approach. Quantitative and qualitative data-collection methods were used. An analysis of learners’ needs was conducted with the learners. The views of different actors, namely, teachers and industry professionals were also sought. The results indicate the existence of needs in all parameters studied. These needs were mainly general in nature rather than specific to the area of specialisation. Similarities and differences were also noted in the views of the various actors. As far as the teachers are concerned, these differences pertained to the magnitude of needs noted while for the professionals, they had to do with the variety of needs identified. This study shows us that needs analysis remains a valid exercise in French for specific purposes and that such an exercise should ideally be centred on the learner.
