This study examines whether employees within the restaurant industry are aware of and have the freedom to make use of their rights. The study has been carried out with an employee focused perspective. We conducted qualitative research using semi-structured interviews. The respondents obtain different positions and work at different workplaces which helps create a big picture of what the restaurant industry looks like. The main focuses during the interviews was on the daily rest period, weekly rest and paid vacation. The results show both similarities and differences between the respondents' experiences. Some respondents had previously reflected on the matters, therefore two of the more in-depth interviews were used as key interviews. The idea for the study arose from previous research that shows that employees in the restaurant industry find it difficult to gain influence in the workplace. Our hope is that the study will contribute to increased knowledge about what rights you have as an employee in the restaurant industry.

Vliv vyšší nadmořské výšky na úspěšnost střelby v biatlonu / The influence of high altitude on shooting efficiency of biathletes.Boudíková, Adéla January 2015 (has links)
The main purpose was describe the issue of shooting success rate at high altitude (1 500 - 3 000m a. s. l.). Shooting success rate of elite racers was evaluated using analysation of results from individual races at high altitude in the period 1990/1991 - 2013/2014. High altitude had no statistical effect (p<0,05) on shooting success rate of women and men biathletes in the comparision with lowland but it had more negative effect to women shooting success rate than men shooting success rate. Ten national level biathletes were tested in three tests in lowland, four tests at high altitude and five tests in lowland after the return from high altitude. The test included rest shooting in the prone and standing positions and load shooting in both positions which took part of three kilometers running. Twelve days training camp at high altitude did not improve shooting success rate, shooting velocity and running time in the determinated heart rate. Rest shooting and shooting in the prone position did not change statistically during the whole testing period. At high altitude critical days were registered in load shooting in standing position (6th day, p<0,05) and average running time (9th day, p<0,05). Rifle manipulation and shooting are automate motions which are not influenced by high altitude. Most...

Automated Cross-Border Mutual Legal Assistance in Digital Forensics (AUTOMLA) : A global realized Enterprise Architecture / Automatiserad gränsöverskridande ömsesidig rättshjälp inom digital forensik (AUTOMLA) : En globalt realiserad IT arkitekturHenriksson, Jonas January 2021 (has links)
Organized cybercrime has no borders in cyberspace. This paper suggests a state-of-the-art architected solution for a global Automated cross-border mutual legal assistance system within Digital Forensic (AUTOMLA). The Enterprise framework with technical viewpoint enables international collaboration between sovereign countries Fusion Centers. The evaluation concludes a user interface built in React, middleware Apollo with schema support linked to graph database Neo4j. GraphQL is the preferred application protocol over REST. Fusion Centers API is deployed as federated gateways, and business functions are implemented as PaaS serverless services. Its intuitive modeling Forensics in graphs, semantic networks enables causality and inference. All suggested elements in AUTOMLA are forming an internationally agreed collaborative platform; the solution for fast cross-border crime investigations. AUTOMLA deployed on the Internet is a subject for threats. Risks are mitigated in design guided by security frameworks. The recommended development method is agile, distributed in between autonomous teams.

The Regulation of Adult Neurogenesis by Rb Family ProteinsFong, Bensun Cambell 02 May 2022 (has links)
A complex regulatory framework underlies the generation of newborn neurons in the adult mammalian brain, including the lifelong maintenance of neural stem cell (NSC) quiescence and instructing NSC entry to and exit from quiescence. Future therapies targeting endogenous repair of the aging or afflicted brain, including neurodegenerative pathologies, rely on present efforts to define and characterize the mechanisms underlying the regulation of adult NSC fate. In this dissertation, we demonstrate a requirement for the Rb/E2F axis in the regulation of the molecular program instructing adult NSC quiescence and activation, with a potential role in the impaired hippocampal function observed in Alzheimer's disease pathology. While Rb plays a role in the production and survival of hippocampal newborn neurons, we identify a collective requirement for Rb family proteins — pRb, p107 and p130 — as well as their targets, E2F family transcriptional activators E2F1 and E2F3, in the regulation of NSC quiescence and activation. We further demonstrate that this is mediated through pivotal factors REST and ASCL1, identified as direct molecular targets of the Rb/E2F axis, and that REST inactivation can partially rescue NSC depletion following Rb family loss. We finally demonstrate impaired NSC activation and a return to quiescence in the 3xTG-AD model of Alzheimer's disease, with altered expression of Rb/E2F genes observed within cell population-specific defects. Ultimately, this work addresses the key issue of how transcriptional signatures of quiescence and activation among adult NSCs are co- ordinated with cell cycle control, and demonstrates that Rb family proteins serve as master regulators of the molecular program instructing adult NSC exit from and re-entry into quiescence.

The Moral Reasoning And Moral Decision Making Of Urban High-poverty Elementary School Principals In A Large Urban Southeastern School DistrictStrenth, Robert 01 January 2013 (has links)
The focus of this research was to identify the moral reasoning and moral judgment of elementary school principals who serve in high-poverty schools. The study was undertaken at the request of the client public school district who was attempting to identify characteristics of current elementary principals serving in high-poverty schools. Two research questions guided this study concerning the moral operational level of the principals. The theoretical framework of the study was based on the work of Lawrence Kohlberg and his stages of moral development. Participating principals were administered the Defining Issues Test-2 (DIT-2), a pencil-paper questionnaire that presented five moral dilemmas and a series of statements asking for the participant to rank solutions to the dilemmas. The results indicated that the majority of participants operated from lower levels of moral development, reasoning, and judgment. Participants’ scores were matched with their schools’ performance grades. There was not an indication that high moral scores and high school performance were linked. This study confirmed the results of an early study conducted by Vitton and Wasonga (2009) and encourages a deeper examination of the results of accountability and principal decision making.

An Examination of School Principals' Moral Reasoning and Decision-Making along the Principalship Track and across Years of ExperienceLing, Trent 01 January 2014 (has links)
Previous research by Vitton & Wasonga (2009) and Strenth (2013) found public school K-12 principals struggling in the moral reasoning and decision-making measures of the second Defining Issues Test ("DIT-2"). In response to these studies, this research sought to collect, to examine, and to compare DIT-2 data for educational leaders at various stages of the principalship track in an effort to determine and/or to isolate the locus of principals' reported underperformance. The moral reasoning and decision-making of regular-education K-12 public school principals and assistant principals in Florida, and current master's degree students in educational leadership programs at a large public Florida university were measured and compared. Research questions were posed: 1) to find the levels of moral reasoning and decision-making reached by acting principals, acting assistant principals, and current master's students in educational leadership programs; 2) to determine if there was a difference between these principals, assistant principals, and master's students in moral reasoning and decision-making; and 3) to see if there was a difference in moral reasoning and decision-making between principals across various years of experience. The DIT-2 was administered anonymously to participants through an online link, and was scored by the University of Alabama's Office for the Study of Ethical Development. Data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistical methods principally to determine the degree to which participants reasoned and made decisions based upon personal interests, upon the maintenance of norms, or upon the basis of more sophisticated principles. Results showed master's students in educational leadership outperforming active principals and assistant principals in moral reasoning and decision-making by more often employing sophisticated principles and by more often avoiding choices associated with personal interests. With regard to principals, the difference was statistically significant on DIT-2 N-2 scores (based on ANOVA and t-test results) and P-scores (based on t-test results, but not based on ANOVA results). Principals not only underperformed master's students in educational leadership statistically significantly, but also underperformed active assistant principals in comparisons of group means on DIT-2 sub-scores. This research confirms the prior works of Strenth (2013) and Vitton & Wasonga (2009), where principals had been found to struggle in measures of moral reasoning and decision-making. These consecutive and consistent findings now require consideration, discussion, and action by the array of K-12 public school stakeholders. In response to the startling findings that K-12 principals are significantly underperforming those still aspiring for the principalship, a substantial, alarmed, and sober re-examination must take place as to what has happened to principals in K-12 public schools, and as to what can and must be done about it.

[pt] AVALIAÇÃO EM LABORATÓRIO DO COEFICIENTE DE EMPUXO NO REPOUSO (K0) DE UM COLÚVIO SATURADO E NÃO SATURADO / [en] LABORATORY EVALUATION OF THE COEFFICIENT OF EARTH PRESSURE AT REST (K0) OF A SATURATED-UNSATURATED COLLUVIUMLORENA GOMES ABRANTES 12 August 2019 (has links)
[en] For the knowledge of the natural stress state of the soil, expressed by the coefficient of earth pressure at rest (k0), a laboratory test is used in undisturbed samples. The importance of the determination of this parameter for colluvium soils relates to the application in engineering works that involve buoyancy of earth and foundations. There are correlations in the literature for determination k0 that comes from researches developed considering sedimentary soils, typically from temperate or cold regions. In dealing with residual and colluvium soils, typical of tropical regions, it is not appropriate to use these correlations, since k0 is affected by several factors, such as degree of weathering, laterization processes and suction, among others that also affect saturated sedimentary soils. This research analyzes samples of a colluvium soil from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio). For the determination of the coefficient of earth pressure at rest of the unsaturated colluvium soil, a flexible wall equipment, with a system of suction control was used. In order to evaluate the influence of suction on the value of the coeficiente of erath pressure at rest, each sample was tested under different moisture contents: wetter, with suction of 10 kPa; intermediate with suction of 40 kPa; and drier with 100 kPa. The k0 values obtained in the tests ranged from 0,19 to 0,24. The coefficient of earth pressure at saturated colluvium (null suction) was also determined using Bishop and Wesley type, servo-controlled triaxial equipment. The value of k0 obtained for the colluvium soil in the saturated condition was equal to 0.36. The results in both trials followed, in part, the expected trend.
