The aim of the thesis is to find out students' reasoning of chosen word problem by using quadratic equation. The work focuses on specific errors end problems reported by students and evaluated by Newman's method of Error Causes for Written Mathematical Tasks. The theoretical work was based on analyse of current mathematical textbooks and comparison with several international pedagogical studies and thesis with similar specialization. Furthermore, a detailed description of methodology and my own research are described in practical part of the thesis. Principle of study was to chose group of the students from two different high schools ( one well know grammar school and one business high school in Prague) and record the process of reasoning the word problem by camera. 1 ABSTRACT The present thesis is focused on primary school pupil's understanging of gender issues. The aim of the thesis is to analyze and compare how pupils understand the gendre issues introduced in the theoretical part of the thesis. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the theoretical concepts of the gender issues - gender, stereotype, gender stereotypes, also related areas, constructivism, pedagogical constructivism and children's interpretations of the world. In this part of the thesis, there is also presented an overview of current research focused on the gender issues. The practical part consists in a qualitative analysis. The data are collected through individual in-depth interview with primary school pupils. The results of the analysis are compared with previous stuides focused on the gender issues.

The dissertation deals with visuality, its perception by pupils of the secondary school. The theoretical part of the work defines the concept of image, visuality, their contextual frameworks. It takes into account the discursivity of these concepts. The aim of the research is to determine students' preferences in the concept of visuality. It seeks theoretical foundation in the areas of: visual sphere - artistic production, new media; art history; spheres of humanities - philosophy, pedagogy, psychology. It also deals with communication and linguistics. It applies knowledge of a semiotic nature. Research design is applied action research of a qualitative nature. It uses the methodology of Grounded Theory and triangulation. The research part of the thesis contains evaluated questionnaire surveys, reflecting selected artifacts. Interpreted student outcomes. These are evaluated using the obtained data to answer research questions. The thesis brings a new perspective on visual information, from the perspective of the pupil. The aim of this document is to familiarize first grade elementary school readers with the critical points in solving word problems in mathematics and to analyze various problem- solving strategies in concrete tasks. Primarily, the document is focused on determining pupils' difficulties and acquiring information about the problem-solving process through a written record of the solution and subsequent in-depth interviews. The theoretical part is divided into six sections dealing with terminology (e.g. word problem) and the areas influencing success in the solution of word problems and partial processes. The thesis deals with student participation in the life of the school and more specifically with the work of student self-administration. The goal of the theoretical part is to define the concept of student participation and all its accessible forms. To outline the life of students self-administrations and present a current picture of the issue of student participation in the Czech Republic. To compare international experience with the work of student self-administration, as mainly in the course of the last couple of years there have been changes in thinking about student participation. The theoretical context serves as a basis for the empirical part of the paper. The main goal of the investigation is to analyze and describe the work of student self-administration at a chosen high school. The research also describes what possibilities and limits students as well as the management and teachers feel there are in relation to successful operation of student self-administration. The research was realized using a mixed qualitative/quantitative model (QUAN - QVAL scheme). The sample comprises of students, members of the student self-administration, teachers and management of a chosen high school.
