Monitoramento dos efeitos ecológicos e socioeconômicos da comercialização de produtos florestais não madereiros / Monitoring the ecological and socioeconomic effects of the commercialization of non-timber forest productsAlice Dantas Brites 13 October 2010 (has links)

An Introductory Course in the Reading of Simple Graphic and Statistical Material for Use in Junior High SchoolsMcKenzie, Annie 01 January 1930 (has links) (PDF)
In the stories of olden times and in those of our own American Indians, we learned of the picture writing of primitive peoples. It became an early method of recording people's thoughts. This was a very useful method at a time when the race was young. This in turn was the beginning of our alphabet, later the beginning of shaping letters into words, and then word into sentences and paragraphs. As our world has grown older, new idea have come into use and we are no longer content to live as our grandparents lived. We travel by fast express trains, high powered auto- mobiles, airplanes, or zeppelins. The radio gives us the news before our papers containing it are on the street. are not able to talk with people on the other side of the world. Business men find this a very valuable means of doing business when time means money. The motion pictures bring us the story of the book we have not had time to read and the characters from its pages talk to us from the screen. In short, we must have quicker ways of doing things.

Who are we and what do we measure? : A case study of the dynamic relationship between performance measurement and organizational identityKällgren, Marcus, Vejbrink Kildal, Adrian January 2022 (has links)
Performance measurements have been described as a tool by which management can communicate expected standards of behavior as well as a shared meaning among members regarding the intended direction of the firm. In parallel, the organizational identity field relies on the premise that members can answer the question “who are we as an organization?” through a sense of shared understanding. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the implications a performance measurement system has on the employees’ perception of “who we are“, related to the theoretical framework of organizational identity. This paper utilizes a qualitative research method, a case-based approach of a Swedish life science company which is conducted in an exploratory manner. The case company is chosen due to its contextual setting regarding the newly implemented performance measurement system, along with the inherent characteristics of the industry in general, which is typically considered to be incongruent with such quantitative measurements. The empirical data is collected through eight interviews with members from the chosen case company, as well as through internal documents describing its performance measurement system. The authors propose a revised theoretical framework in which performance measurements and organizational identity are investigated through a conceptual model which explores their dynamic relationship. The findings reinforce well-known ideas of performance measurements and organizational identity, along with providing new insights on the dynamics between them. "Disabled identities": pastoral work with people who are mobility impairedJacobs, Alvean Illinois 30 November 2004 (has links)
This thesis is about pastoral work with people who live with mobility impairment. The research address two main questions, namely "What are the implications of acquired mobility impairment for personal identity and collective identity?" and "How can we in Christian faith communities, through pastoral work, facilitate a sense of belonging and strengthen personal identity and collective identity for people who are mobility disadvantaged?"
This thesis therefore addresses the problem of identity. Thus, a theoretical analysis from literature sources is undertaken to explore theories about narrative identity in relation to personal identity and the importance of the metaphor "belonging" to bridge the gap of personal identity to collective identity. Consequently, religious identity is discussed in relation to the notion of multiple identities and the importance of collective identity to shaping personal identity.
The research questions are answered through a theoretical exploration of approaches to disability and qualitative, narrative empirical research is undertaken. A few people who are quadriplegic, a family member and an occupational therapist are interviewed and the recounting of their "stories" facilitated. The empirical research results in highlighting that the research participants' "stories" discloses a link between bodily restrictions and social restrictions to mobility. This combination works together to make social interaction very difficult and clearly influenced the transition from pre-quadriplegia to post-quadriplegia. Analysing the "stories" told by the research participants allows for critical reflection on a preferred pastoral work praxis to people living with mobility impairment.
Narrative identity is linked with a theology of embrace and metaphors of "covenant" and "belonging" which expresses that faith communities should imitate the embracing love and compassion of the Triune God who through the act of suffering included all humankind. It provides the foundation for a preferred pastoral work praxis of "embrace" which can be practised holistically and actively through integration with the other practices of faith communities to facilitate a sense of belonging to a collective identity.
Spesiale skole in Suid-Afrika beskik oor 'n eiesoortige
primer verstandelik matig gestrem is.
By wyse van
hierdie bevindinge is kurrikulumevalueringskriteria ontwikkel
is.
Aanbevelings is
Sustaining curriculum relevance and effectiveness, necessitates
regular curriculum evaluation and adjustment in concurrence
with the evaluation results.
Special schools in South Africa have at their disposal their
own · peculiar curriculum which was developed mainly for
learners who are primarily mildly mentally disabled. For
various reasons, the most important of which is that the
majority of learners currently in special schools are not
mildly mentally disadvantaged, the relevancy and effectiveness
of this curriculum are questioned.
The primary aim of this research was therefore to determine if
the core curriculum for special education, which is applicable
to the majority of special schools in South Africa, is
relevant and effective.
A secondary aim of this investigation was to develop a model
for curriculum evaluation by means of which curriculum
evaluators would be able to evaluate a curriculum from a
literature perspective.
With a view to founding this research theoretically, literature
research was conducted into the foundations and components
of the curriculum. On the basis of the research findings,
the model for curriculum evaluation was developed. Two of the curriculum foundations that were disclosed by means
of the research, were the learner and the community. By means
of an investigation of literature and other relevant documentation,
the demands made on the curriculum by the learner and
the community, were determined. On the basis of these
findings, criteria were developed by means of which the core
curriculum for special schools was then assessed. When the above criteria were applied, it was found that in
many respects the core curriculum for special schools did not
completely comply with the demands of the learners and the
community. The conclusion could therefore be drawn that the
core curriculum for special schools are in general not
effective and relevant enough. Proposals were made on how the
core curriculum could possibly be made more effective and
relevant. / Curriculum and Instructional Studies / D. Ed. (Didaktiek)

Narrative strategies in selected Amharic novels from 2000 until 2010Demeke Tassew Dires 06 1900 (has links)
The aim of this research entitled Narrative Strategies in Selected Amharic Novels from 2000 until 2010 was to shed light on the relationship among form, meaning (content) and social milieuin establishing the textual and contextual features of fictional narratives. It mainly contends that it is possible to unravel the textual and contextual qualities of fictional narratives by studying form as a narrative strategy. In this research, form, when understood as a narrative strategy, is not only considered as a textual construct which motivates textual meaning but also regarded as a product of the social milieu from which the text emerges. Having this conception, form as a narrative strategy is investigated in selected Amharic novels published from 2000 until 2010 in view of expounding the artistic and thematic features of contemporary Amharic novels, endeavouring to fill the knowledge gap in Amharic literary scholarship about their literary features. The present research applies narratological approaches that range from classical to post-classical
narratology. However, it dominantly uses post-classical conceptions of narratology as guidelines for its discussion. The dissertation comprises six chapters. The first one is an introductory chapter in which the research problems, goals and assumptions are explicated. Chapter two deals with the theoretical framework where the theoretical insight the research utilizes as a guideline is outlined and methodological issues are specified. The following three chapters focus on the analysis. In the third chapter, story is investigated as a narrative strategy in Yeburqa Zemeta (Burka’s Silence) (2000); in the fourth one, focalization is treated as a narrative strategy in Gerač.a Qač.eloč (Grey
Bells) (2005), and in the fifth chapter, characterization is studied as a narrative strategy in
Dèrtogada (Dertogada) (2010). The dissertation concludes with a chapter in which independent findings in the three analysis chapters are summed up and generalizations on the textual and contextual features of the present day Amharic novels are made. / Afrikaans & Theory of Literature / D. L'hybridation dans l'oeuvre de Jeannette WintersonMihajlovska, Lupka 16 November 2012 (has links) (PDF)
Dans Oranges are not the Only Fruit, Sexing the Cherry, Written on the Body et The PowerBook de Jeanette Winterson, l'hybridation se manifeste à tous les niveaux du texte.

PERCEPTIONS OF TEACHERS REGARDING THE IMPORTANCE AND EXISTENCE OF RESEARCHED-BASED PROGRAM CHARACTERISTICS IN ALTERNATIVE HIGH SCHOOLS AND TEACHER’S PERCEPTIONS OF EFFICACY IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIALowerre, Robert 29 November 2010 (has links)
The purpose of this research was to determine teachers’ perceptions of the degree to which research-based characteristics exist in alternative high schools and programs in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the importance of these characteristics to effective education. In addition, this research investigated whether or not these perceptions were related to the teachers’ perception of efficacy. These seven characteristics were (a) clearly identified enrollment criteria, (b) low ratio of student to teachers, (c) one-to-one interactions between staff and students, (d) social skills instruction, (e) effective academic instruction, (f) parental involvement and parental support programs, and (g) specific training for teachers who are working with at-risk youth. Alternative school teachers were also administered the short form of the Tschannen-Moran and Woolfolk Hoy (2001) Teachers’ Sense of Efficacy Scale that is specifically designed to assess the respondents’ perceptions of their self-efficacy as teachers. The data show that alternative school teachers in Virginia ranked “low student to staff ratio” as the most important and “parental involvement and parental support programs” as the least important research-based characteristics for the academic focus of their schools. It was also evidenced by the data that none of the research-based characteristics were shown to have “strong evidence” of existence in Virginia’s alternative schools and programs. Finally, the data showed that there is a positive correlation between the existence of the research-based characteristics and the reported self-efficacy of the alternative school teachers.
