VITERBI AND SERIAL DEMODULATORS FOR PRE-CODED BINARY GMSKLui, Gee L., Tsai, Kuang 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 25-28, 1999 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / Three different demodulators applicable to the coherent demodulation of binary Gaussian Minimum Shift Keying (GMSK) signal are described and their performance compared. These include a near-optimal trellis demodulator, which utilizes two matched filters and Viterbi algorithm to carry out maximum likelihood sequence estimation, and a singlefilter threshold demodulator with and without pulse equalization. The performance of these demodulators in noise and adjacent channel interference (ACI) are compared for several signal BT products. The equalized threshold demodulator is shown to perform nearly as well as the near-optimal trellis demodulator in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), and substantially outperform the trellis demodulator under severe ACI condition.

ID Photograph hashing : a global approachSmoacà, Andreea 12 December 2011 (has links) (PDF)

PREVENTION OF HORMONAL MAMMARY CARCINOGENESIS IN RATS BY DIETARY BERRIES AND ELLAGIC ACIDAiyer, Harini Sankaran 01 January 2007 (has links)
Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women around the world. The hormone 17-estradiol (E2) is strongly implicated as a causative agent in this cancer. Since estrogen acts as a complete carcinogen, agents that interfere with the carcinogenic actions of E2 are required. Most agents effective against experimental mammary carcinogenesis have been employed as pure compounds disregarding the synergy that exists between several phytonutrients in a whole food. In these studies we have taken a unified approach, by employing a pure phytonutrient ellagic acid and whole foods that contain the phytonutrient at various levels berries, in the prevention of E2- induced mammary cancer in ACI rats. We have also used a tiered approach by screening several phytochemicals in vitro and implementing these results in both short- and long-term studies. Initially, several phytochemicals were tested as pure compounds against oxidative DNA damage induced by 4-hydroxy estradiol and CuCl2. Ellagic acid, was the most effective agent (andgt;98% reduction). In a short-term in vivo study, both dietary blueberry and strawberry (5% w/w), were ineffective in reducing the baseline oxidative DNA damage in the livers of CD-1 mice. However, red raspberry (5% w/w) was highly effective (50% reduction) and ellagic acid (400 ppm) was moderately effective (25% reduction). Further both diets up-regulated hepatic DNA repair genes in a similar fashion. In a long-term estradiol-induced mammary carcinogenicity study in ACI rats, dietary berries (2.5% w/w) and ellagic acid (400 ppm) reduced both tumor volume and tumors per animal to different extents (50-75%). One mechanism by which these dietary interventions inhibit mammary tumorigenesis may be via modulation of E2 metabolism, especially at the early stages of carcinogenesis. At 6 weeks after E2 treatment both berries and ellagic acid or berries alone significantly offset E2- induced changes in CYP1B1 and CYP1A1 expressions respectively. In addition, no toxicity or adverse effects are observed when rodents were fed either berries (1 - 5%) or ellagic acid (400 ppm). These data taken collectively support the possibility of using natural foods such as berries as an adjuvant to current pharmacological therapies in the prevention and treatment of breast cancer.

Quantitative analysis of coral reef soundscapes using five different acoustic indicesZhu, Linzhi 30 September 2022 (has links)
Soundscape ecology is a rising field in recent years as the effects of anthropogenic sound pollution are widely discussed. Nowadays, scientists are trying to find the best way to describe environmental health using quantitative acoustic measurements. In search of the best acoustic index/indices that can be used for real-time and long-term underwater acoustic monitoring, we tested five different acoustic indices for their effectiveness and suitability for distinguishing and differentiating various types of sounds. One dataset with anthropogenic noises (boat, ship, and diver noises), natural ambient sounds (wind, water turbulence, and reef background noises), and biotic sounds (damselfish Dascyllus reticulatus and snapping shrimps sounds) was analyzed using Raven Pro and R. Our results suggest that acoustic richness (AR) and acoustic complex index (ACI) are capable of separating sound types with the consistency of subjective impression. We also find a strong positive linear correlation between sound exposure level (SEL) and average power spectral density (PSD). The AR exhibits a polynomial relationship with the increase of SEL. Acoustic entropy (H) does not have a significant difference between the three types of sounds. These results agree with the previous studies that AR can be used for differentiating random noises and pure tones, and ACI is capable of quantifying sound complexity. / 2024-09-30T00:00:00Z

Résolution de contraintes de déductibilité : application à la composition de services Web sécurisés / Resolution of constraint systems for automatic composition of security-aware Web ServicesAvanesov, Tigran 19 September 2011 (has links)
This thesis gives a decision procedure for the satisfiability problem of general deducibility constraints. Two cases are considered: the standard Dolev-Yao theory and its extension with an associative, commutative idempotent operator. The result is applied to solve the automated distributed orchestration problem for secured Web services. As a second application we give a procedure to decide the security of a cryptographic protocol in presence of several non-communicating intruders. We also show how it is possible to detect some XML rewriting attacks on Web services

Spectral Efficiency and Adjacent Channel Interference Performance Definitions and Requirements for Telemetry ApplicationsFeher, Kamilo, Jefferis, Robert, Law, Eugene 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 25-28, 1999 / Riviera Hotel and Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada / Organizations such as the National Telecommunications and Information Administration
(NTIA), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), International Telecommunications
Union (ITU) and various commercial entities use a wide range of spectral efficiency
criteria in different broadcast and wireless system applications. These criteria and related
specifications have significant differences. This paper briefly reviews some common
adjacent channel interference (ACI) definitions as well as issues surrounding the
definition of spectral efficiency. The impact of these parameters on system bit error rate
(BER) performance and closely "packed" adjacent signals is described. ACI criteria and
spectral efficiency definitions considered appropriate for existing telemetry applications
and deployment of new generations of spectrally efficient systems are illustrated. Specific
ACI and spectral efficiency performance requirements adopted by the Department of
Defense (DoD) and Advanced Range Telemetry (ARTM) project are highlighted.
