Evaluation of Problem Driven Software Process ImprovementCarleson, Hannes, Lyth, Marcus January 2016 (has links)
Software development is constantly growing in complexity and several newtools have been created with the aim to manage this. However, even with thisever evolving range of tools and methodology, organizations often struggle withhow to implement a new development-process, especially when implementingagile methods. The most common reason for this is because teams implementagile tools in an ad-hoc manner, without fully considering the effects this cancause. This leads to teams trying to correct their choice of methodologysomewhere during the post-planning phase, which can be devastating for aproject as it adds further complexity to the project by introducing new problemsduring the transition process. Moreover, with an existing range of tools aimedat managing this process transition, none of them have been thoroughlyevaluated, which in turn forms the problem that this thesis is centred around. This thesis explores a method transition scenario and evaluates a SoftwareProcess Improvement method oriented around the problems that theimprovement process is aiming to solve. The goal with this is to establish ifproblem oriented Software Process Improvement is viable as well as to providefurther data for the extensive research that is being done in this field. We wishto prove that the overall productivity of a software development team can beincreased even during a project by carefully managing the transition to newmethods using a problem driven approach. The research method used is of qualitative and inductive character. Data iscollected by performing a case study, via action research, and literature studies. The case study consists of iteratively managing a transition over to newmethods, at an organization in the middle of a project, using a problem drivenapproach to Software Process Improvement. Three iterations of methodimprovement are applied on the project and each iteration acts as an evaluationon how well Problem Driven Software Process Improvement works.By using the evaluation model created for this degree project, the researchershave found that problem driven Software Process Improvement is an effectivetool for managing and improving the processes of a development team.Productivity has increased with focus on tasks with highest priority beingfinished first. Transparency has increased with both development team andcompany having a clearer idea of work in progress and what is planned.Communication has grown with developers talking more freely about userstories and tasks during planning and stand-up meetings. The researchersacknowledge that the results of the study are of a limited scope and alsorecognize that further evaluation in form of more iterations are needed for acomplete evaluation.

Creating a graphical user interface for cross-platform devices with a user-centered agile processBytyqi, Meriton January 2022 (has links)
PC-Dart is a software that the Swedish Armed Forces use to communicate when active on the field. They are limited to using the program only on Windows operating system, and their devices are not suitable for challenging contexts. It is not convenient for the army to bring impractical devices to the field, and it requires the soldiers to bring sleds of batteries and charging equipment with them. This thesis explores the possibilities of recreating the graphical user interface onto other platforms such as Android and Linux. It helps to increase the mobility on the field for the troops of the Swedish Armed Forces, which also means that there is not any restrictions by using their program on one platform. The development of the program required a pilot study on what available cross-platform frameworks to use in terms of developing an application that works on multiple platforms. Together with a relevant framework and a custom user-centered agile work process, this thesis strives to create an application that is cross-platform and with a graphical user interface that old users of the previous program can relate to. The project results show that a graphical user interface can be developed with a cross-platform framework while working in a user-centered agile process. However, it also shows that it can be a lot of work for one person, negatively affecting the process.

La démarche Smart City comme nouveau cadre d'intégration des méthodes issues du génie industriel dans les chaînes logistiques de la fonction publique / Smart City approach as a new framework for the integration of industrial engineering methods in the public sector supply chainAubourg, Gautier 04 December 2017 (has links)
The public sector is a domain in perpetual transformation, due to current economic pressure and constant technological progress. This is particularly the case in Urban Communities, where employees are under intense pressure, notably by the need to ensure services of high quality to their users while minimizing the costs incurred, but also because of the necessity to develop new skills to meet the new requirements of the sector. Current projects involving multiple technologies, the need to work in synergy with the territorial actors becomes essential for the management of the public sector supply chains. The field of industrial engineering has developed various methods which can address these new needs for the public sector. These methods include various theories and practices going from continuous improvement to Supply Chain Management, including customer relationship management. These practices aim above all at improving the coordination and integration of all activities necessary to the development of a product or service. The emergence of new approaches, such as the Smart City, legitimizes the application of industrial methods for the management of services answering the general interest of a territory. Consequently, the objective of this work is to adapt to the Urban Communities of the methods derived defined in industrial engineering and to integrate the approach of Smart City to improve the synergy between the partners, while increasing the productivity of the organization in the supply of more efficient public services.

Previous issue date: 2012-06-26 / Universidade Federal de Sao Carlos / This project investigated an Agile Development Process for groupware on theWeb 2.0. The
process has its based in different technologies, especially those of the Scrum agile method,
integrated with functional testing at the acceptance level. To assist this integration, we
established a greater intercommunication between the process disciplines, using the User
Stories as artifacts in all disciplines. The process aims to take advantage of the agility of the
Scrum without losing quality in the development of applications. It was developed based
on the Scrum process, with the addition of technologies that support the creation and use
of artifacts in the search for integration with functional testing. The process uses three disciplines,
each one refining the User Stories, which occur in different degrees of abstraction
throughout the development. These stories should be a most faithful portrait possible of user
needs and are used both in the form of cards (Story Cards), for requirements specification,
and in an executable format to guide the implementation and work as functional testing.
Mockups are used to complement the requirements specified in the cards, assisting in the
task of representing the requirements. This set is the basis for the creation of User Stories
in executable format. Other modeling artifacts, like Class Diagram, can also be specified in
order to elicit requirements of the application. The procedure is supported by tools developed
to enable the integration of the functional tests. These tools define a tests specification
language to write User Stories, created as a DLL for Visual Studio, and a converter of these
User Stories for functional testing in C# code. Thus, the proposed process provides a greater
integration of tests during the development and execution of each discipline in order
to produce higher quality applications. To test the process, applications were developed in
the domain of groupware in Web 2.0. The adoption of this area was motivated by the idea
of exploring the development of collaborative software that supports group work of people
involved in common tasks.

Previous issue date: 2014-08-22 / Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte / The information tecnology (IT) has, over the years, gaining prominence as a strategic
element and competitive edge in organizations, public or private. In the judiciary, with the
implementation of actions related to Judici?rio Eletr?nico, information technology (IT),
definitely earns its status as a strategic element and significantly raises the level of
dependence of the organs of their services and products. Increasingly, the quality of services
provided by IT has direct impact on the quality of services provided by the agency as a whole.
The Minist?rio P?blico do Estado do Rio Grande do Norte (MPRN) deployments shares of
Electronic Government, along with an administrative reform, beyond these issues raised,
caused a large increase in institutional demand for products and services provided by the
Diretoria de Tecnologia da Informa??o (DTI), a sector responsible for the provision of IT
services. Taking as starting point strategic goal set by MPRN to reach a 85% level of user
satisfaction in four years, we seek to propose a method that assists in meeting the goal,
respecting the capacity constraints of the IT sector. To achieve the proposed objective, we
conducted a work in two distinct and complementary stages. In the first step we conducted a
case study in MPRN, in which, through an internal and external diagnosis of DTI,
accomplished by an action of internal consulting and one research of the user satisfaction, we
seek to identify opportunities of change seeking to raise the quality perceived of the services
provided by the DTI , from the viewpoint of their customers. The situational report, drawn
from the data collected, fostered changes in DTI, which were then evaluated with the
managers. In the second stage, with the results obtained in the initial process, empirical
observation, evaluation of side projects of quality improvement in the sector, and validation
with the managers, of the initial model, we developed an improved process, gazing beyond
the identification of gaps in service a strategy for the selection of best management practices
and deployment of these, in a incremental and adaptive way, allowing the application of the
process in organs with little staff allocated to the provision of information technology
No poder
todo.

Since its establishment in 2017, there has been a dramatic increase of e-scooters in Sweden and especially in Stockholm city. This radical change in transport has shaken the current traffic environment. Accidents and parking problems have been the focus of media reporting of the phenomenon. The purpose of this report is to investigate how the companies that develop e-scooters work with safety for the users and adapt their product development to Swedish laws and traffic rules. The study also deals with how to safely integrate new means of transport into society. In order to lay a foundation, a literature study has been conducted and a theoretical frame of reference has been developed. Information was gathered through qualitative semi-structured interviews with three companies that develop e-scooters, responsible for e-scooters in Stockholms Stad and respondents from the Swedish Transport Agency with a government assignment to clarify the situation. The interviews have been transcribed, coded, subdivided into themes and analyzed. Today, most e-scooters in Stockholm are classified as bicycles. This means, in addition to requirements for brake and bell, that the speed must not exceed 20 km/h and the engine power must be no more than 250 W. Several affecting parties consider this classification problematic and a common wish among all interviewed respondents is to find a classification or approach to the e-scooters that gives clarity for which rules that applies, clarifies ambiguities and promotes future development of the e-scooters. The results of the study have shown that a large focus in the development process is on safety and a large part of the work to enhance safety takes place during the evaluation phase. The development is incremental in order to constantly improve the safety for the users of the e-scooters and prevent accidents from happening. Today, companies are working with a relatively linear development process, but in order to handle future challenges, a more agile work process could promote product development. Since the phenomenon of e-scooters is still new, the accident statistics are very limited. However, the statistics that exist point out that the accident rates with e-scooters involved is not higher than for traditional bicycles. The study also shows that there is a dialogue between Stockholms Stad and the leading scooter companies in Stockholm in order to safely integrate the means of transport into city traffic.
