Um Programa de Gerência de Pavimentos para o Comando da Aeronáutica - Estudo de caso : bases aéreas da região sul / A pavement management program for the brazilian air force - case study: air bases of the south region

Cordovil, Ricardo Miranda January 2010 (has links)
This dissertation concerns in the development of a prototype of a preliminary Pavement Management System for the network of military airports managed by the Brazilian Air Force (COMAER) and aims to provide a methodology for the implementation of the pavement management within the Brazilian Air Force, in order to support the development of the multi-year plan of works. To do it so, the existing information system and the inventory of airfields pavements subject to the Fifth Regional Air Command (COMAR V) was raised, the history of the condition and intervention of decks in the past five years, project data, costs, air traffic and from these elements and performance measures of the pavements studied was an elaborate multi-year investment proposal in terms of conservation works in order to extend the pavement life wich aim at a more rational utilization of resources. In addition, to integrate the fragmented information between the various links of Engineering System throughout Brazil, it was developed a database system to enable to consult and register evaluations through the INTRAER, the internal network of the Brazilian Air Force.

AQM Shell Development - Creating a Framework for Airspace and Airfield Operations and Air Quality Visualization Software

Peterson, Todd Alan 15 October 1997 (has links)
It is believed that the analysis of air traffic impacts on air quality will benefit from attention to the three-dimensional nature of the air traffic network as well as the actions of individual aircraft during the study period. With the existence of air traffic simulation models, the actions of individual aircraft may already be defined in a simulated environment. SIMMOD, the Federal Aviation Administration's airport and airspace modeling software, performs such models of scheduled air traffic. The results of such models may be used to determine the impacts of scheduled air traffic on air quality as well as other parameters. This report addresses the interpretation of output from SIMMOD models for use in air quality analysis and visualization of the air traffic network, and the application of these techniques in a stand-alone computer program. This program, named AQM for its purpose in assisting development of Air Quality Models, provides a working framework for future development of software for detailed air quality analysis and visualization. / Master of Science

Isolation in the South: Poverty and Transportation Infrastructure in the Black Belt

Shapley, Derrick Ryan 11 December 2015 (has links)
This study examines the relationship between transportation infrastructure and social well-being in the United States South, especially in the Black Belt. Specifically, this study focuses on the impact of airport accessibility and improvements on social well-being within the community capital framework in which built capital and political capital acted as a foundational basis for the broader concept of positive community capital. The results indicated that many cumulative disadvantages exist in the Black Belt of the southern United States. The research found that a higher level of airport accessibility is associated with a lower level of poverty and higher levels of health outcomes and net migration. The research further found that having a college and university in a community is associated with higher high school graduation rates, lower poverty rates, and lower unemployment rates. This research has important implications for addressing the cumulative disadvantages and isolation in the Black Belt.

A computer simulation model to predict airport capacity enhancements

Nunna, Vijay Bhushan G. 22 October 2009 (has links)
The ever increasing demand on the air transportation system is causing a lot of congestion and delays, leading to large monetary losses and passenger inconvenience. This has prompted the development of many analysis tools to help the understanding of the airport system where some improvements could be performed to enhance the capacity of the airports. The Center for Transportation Research at Virginia Tech, in line with the FAA’s Capacity Enhancements Plan, is developing strategies to alleviate the airport congestion problem by developing a model (REDIM) to design and optimally locate high-speed exit taxiways. The objective of this research is to develop a computer simulation model to predict the airport capacity enhancements due to the above mentioned high-speed exit taxiways and as well as due to other changes in operational procedures, aircraft characteristics, airport environmental conditions, etc. RUNSIM (RUNway Simulation Model), a discrete event simulation model was developed using SIMSCRIPT 11.5 language. This model simulates dual operations on a single runway, with capabilities of simulating FAA standard and REDIM designed high-speed exits, variable intrail separations, different aircraft mixes, and weights, arrival rates and patterns, etc. Currently it has a 30 aircraft data base to perform the simulation. Its output includes such global statistics as total arrival and departure delays, weighted average ROT and its standard deviation, aircraft exit assignment table, arrival and departure event lists. It has the capability to perform multiple iterations on a single application, which helps in performing statistical analyses on the results for better inference. / Master of Science
