Development of an API for creating and editing openEHR archetypes

Klasson, Filip, Väyrynen, Patrik January 2009 (has links)
<p>Archetypes are used to standardize a way of creating, presenting and distributing health care data. In this master thesis project the open specifications of openEHR was followed. The objective of this master thesis project has been to develop a Java based API for creating and editing openEHR archetypes. The API is a programming toolbox that can be used when developing archetype editors. Another purpose has been to implement validation functionality for archetypes. An important aspect is that the functionality of the API is well documented, this is important to ease the understanding of the system for future developers. The result was a Java based API that is a platform for future archetype editors. The API-kernel has optional immutability so developed archetypes can be locked for modification by making them immutable. The API is compatible with the openEHR specifications 1.0.1, it can load and save archetypes in ADL (Archetype Definition Language) format. There is also a validation feature that verifies that the archetype follows the right structure with respect to predefined reference models. This master thesis report also presents a basic GUI proposal.</p>

Medicininių dokumentų automatizuotos analizės metodikos tyrimas / Analysis of automatic data extraction from medical documents

Kazla, Algirdas 25 May 2005 (has links)
Automatic data extraction from medical legacy systems into archetype-based systems is analyzed, developed and tested in this work. Electronic health record system (EHRS) is a must in today’s healthcare environment. Lots of up-to-date medical systems are still built with classic development approaches, with semantics hard coded into systems. Modern EHRS standards propose new “two-level” methodology, which is based on separation of knowledge and information levels. This work suggests a methodology for heterogenic medical legacy systems that exist today to be transformed into ones, built with “two-level” methodology. Transformation is based on knowledge, residing in new system. By creating a comprehensive transformation scheme, it is possible to analyze and extract relevant data from semi structured or unstructured text fields with mixed information. Suggested methodology is tested with software prototype by extracting laboratory results of clinical blood test from semi structured fields of cardiology database. Achieved results are about 95% of data successfully transferred from legacy system. This approach preserves medical data accumulated during long years of work and transforms it into more useful form, creating structured data from unstructured text fields. It allows an automatic means of information technologies to be used by medicine expert to analyze and interpret legacy data (draw charts, calculate statistics and so on).

Die Eignung von Entrepreneurial Orientation zur Beschreibung von Archetypen bei Kleinen und Mittleren Unternehmen / The Suitability of Entrepreneurial Orientation to Describe Archetypes of Small and Medium Enterprises

Braun, Markus 04 March 2015 (has links) (PDF)
Recently, a major focus in economical research is on small- and medium-sized enterprises and entrepreneurship. As part of this development, many concepts have been transferred and adapted to the Entrepreneurship and SME sector from large corporation research, without being tested for their fit to this area. An (empirical) examination how the underlying models and assumptions transferred apply also to the field of SMEs in general seems to be necessary. One of the tools that gain more attention every year is the concept of Entrepreneurial Orientation. Entrepreneurial Orientation provides a tool that can model the entire lifecycle of an enterprise and integrates elements of entrepreneurship as well as organizational and strategy research. This book does provide a theoretical and empirical evaluation of how Entrepreneurial Orientation may be useful by designing configurations of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Ancient archetypes in modern media: A comparative analysis of "Golden Girls", "Living Single", and "Sex and the City"

Macey, Deborah Ann, 1970- 09 1900 (has links)
xii, 214 p. A print copy of this title is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / Recombinant television, a common television practice involving recycled, prepackaged formulas, updated to create programming that is perceived as novel, impacts more than industry processes. While the industry uses recombinants to reduce risk by facilitating aspects of production and audience affiliation, the inadvertent outcomes include a litany of narratives and characters that influence our worldview. As did the myths of earlier oral societies, television serves as one of our modern storytellers, teaching what we value and helping us make sense of our culture. This study focuses on how the prevalence of recombinant television limits portrayals of women and the discourse of feminism in three popular, female cast American sitcoms. This study comparatively examines the recombinant narratives and characters in Golden Girls, Living Single , and Sex and the City . While these programs are seemingly about very different modern women, older White women in suburban Florida; twenty-something African-American women in Brooklyn; and thirty-something, White, professional women in Manhattan, respectively, the four main characters in each show represent feminine archetypes found throughout Western mythology: the iron maiden, the sex object, the child, and the mother. First, a content analysis determines if a relationship exists between the characters and archetypes. Then, a comparative textual analysis reveals the deeper meanings the archetypes carry. Finally, a comparative narrative analysis examines the similarities and differences among the series. The findings reveal that a relationship exists between each modern character and her corresponding ancient archetype, reflecting particular meanings and discourses. The iron maiden archetypes, for example, generally bring forth a feminist discourse, whereas the child archetypes exhibit traditional values. While the sex object archetypes are self-absorbed, consumed with their own beauty and sexual conquests, the mother archetypes seek psychological wellness for themselves and those around them, generally providing much of the emotional work for the group. As reflected in these popular U.S. television series, the similarities among the archetypes and narratives depict limited views of women's lives, while the variance indicates differences among age, race, and class demographics. These recombinant portrayals of ancient archetypes as modern women suggest that our understanding of women's lives remains antiquated, reductionist, and conventional. / Adviser: Debra Merskin

The odyssey of Dune : epic, archetype and the collective unconscious

Rafala, Carmelo 09 1900 (has links)
This thesis examines epic impressions between two disparate literary genres, the classical Homeric epic and the science fiction novel, Frank Herbert's Dune in particular. This is done by applying Jung's archetypes and his notion of the collective unconscious to both literary works. This thesis argues that, through intertextual dialogue, continuities can be seen to exist between the Homeric epic and Dune and other science fiction texts of a similar nature. Chapter one examines epic impressions through a study of the classical heroic superhuman. This superhuman, his birth, divine attributes and heroic adventures shall be isolated and applied to both the classical hero and the hero of Herbert's narrative. Chapter two will examine the relationship between prescience ("hyperawareness") and the divine oracle of the classical epic. Chapter three will examine the archetype of the "Terrible Mother" and the masculine fear of feminine powers that works to keep the feminine subordinate. / English Studies / M.A. (English)

Pelas insólitas sendas de Arnoia, Arnoia, de Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín: a ressignificação de arquétipos literários do Maravilhoso / By the unusual paths of Arnoia, Arnoia of Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín: the resignification of literary archetypes of the marvelous

Rafaela Cardoso Corrêa 31 March 2011 (has links)
Dessa maneira, o insólito, pacificamente esperado e mesmo demandado no Maravilhoso, surpreende na narrativa ferriniana / Arnoia, Arnoia, of the Galician writer Xosé Luís Méndez Ferrín, uses literary structures of the archetypal Wonderful, giving new resignification to them. The hero, in front of trials that he experiences, goes out of town in search of a ideal, being accompanied by a character and various magical objects. A stroll along the paths of Arnoia, Arnoia obliges to critically reread elements of literary construction, since the Galician has incorporated the mythic tradition, in especially the Celtic medieval literature, the Galician has appeal, too, for the Celtic culture to express their imagination. Arnoia, Arnoia brings to various factors peculiar to the contemporary Wonderful, availing himself of them to build new senses. Thus, the unusual, peacefully expected and even demanded in the Wonderful, surprises in ferrinian`s narrative

Subsolos portenhos : o intertexto Arlt-Dostoiévski

Ribeiro, Vitor Alexandre January 2007 (has links)
This work deals with the interplay of contexts involved in the Arlt-Dostoevsky intertext. It asserts that, behind the intertextual space, there is a clash and an interrelation of contexts through literary representation and modeling, where the literary representation of a context a mediate and structure the interpretation and the fictionalization of a given receptive context b. In this consists the concept of intercontextualization, which lays the basis for this study on the Arlt-Dostoevsky intertext. In the case of Arlt’s transtextualization of Dostoevskyan fiction, the literary-archetypal constitution is of fundamental importance. Therefore, the underground archetype is investigated as the representational instance of clandestine, subversive and noncanonical traditions. These traditions – which I call underground traditions –, mediated through the Dostoevskyan fictional material, represent to Arlt a global and wide alternative to the criollo tradition as fabricated by the Argentinean elite as a cultural support for their political agenda. I do not intend here to present an in-depth historical analysis of the specific contextual elements connected to each of texts in dialog. Instead, I propose to set the theoretical principles to the intercontextual reading of the literary archetypes and their role in the process of reception-creation.

For this exam, we will apply the Imaginary criticism, and realize a short explanation about mythic archetypes theories from C.G. Jung, Mircea Eliade, E.
