Cardozo, Andrey Lucas January 2017 (has links)
Biodiversidade. Mata Atlântica. Taxonomia. Umbelliferae. / Abstract: Eryngium belongs to the Apiaceae. It has about 220 species distributed in temperate and tropical regions of all continents. In Brazil the genus is represented by 60 species, being widely distributed and present in all states. Its species are usually erect or creeping herbs, glabrous throughout, with aculeate leaves grouped in basal rosette and inflorescences that vary from white to bluish or purplish. Eryngium is easily distinguished from other members of Apiaceae by its head type inflorescences, and by having a single bract per flower. Species of Eryngium can be perennials or biennials, occurring as terrestrial, aquatic or epipetric. This study is the first taxonomic treatment for the genus in Paraná state, and it is based on collections available in several herbaria and additional collections that were carried out in the main vegetation types of the state. In total, 24 species were recorded. Of these, seven are endemic to Brazil, including E. ombrophilum, endemic to Paraná. E. aloifolium and E. stenophyllum var. corymbosum are new records for Paraná and for Brazil, respectively. The areas of Native Grasslands, combining extensive open areas and high altitudes, were the richest for the genus (occur 75% of the species). The fragments of Savannah, although they do not present a large number of species of Eryngium, deserve special attention, because E. rochei occur only in a small fragment of this type of vegetation, making it critically endangered in the state. Identification key, descriptions, images, distributions maps, taxonomic comments and evaluation of the conservation status.for the species from Paraná are provided. Key words: Apiales. Foram encontradas 18 espécies: Pluteus argentinensis, P. cervinus, P. diptychocystis, P. dominicanus var. hyalinus, P. globiger, P. glaucotinctus, P. riograndensis, P. xylophilus, Pluteus sp. 1, Pluteus sp. 2, Pluteus sp. 3, Pluteus sp. 4, Pluteus sp. 5, Pluteus sp. 6, Pluteus sp. 7, Pluteus sp. 8, Pluteus sp. 9 e Pluteus sp. 10. / Abstract: The State of Paraná has a relatively well studied mycobiota, with more than 1700 fungi registered. However, most of the occurrences are limited to the shoreline, the Metropolitan region of Curitiba and its surroundings, where Mixed and Dense Ombrophilous Forests predominate. Little is known about the fungi of the Semideciduous Seasonal Forest, especially in the West of Paraná. This contributes to the knowledge on the Mycobiota of that region, in particular for the genus Pluteus Fr. The fungi of this genus are characterized by pluteoid basidiomas, pink lamellae, smooth basidiospores, reverse lamella weft and absence of universal veil. Pluteus is the largest genus in the Pluteaceae family, with about 300 species, of which 34 are known in Paraná. The study was carried out in two fragments of the Semideciduous Seasonal Forest: São Camilo State Park (PESC), a conservation unit located in the town of Palotina, and the Private Natural Heritage Reserve Açú Farm (RFA), located in the town of Terra Roxa. The study material was obtained from biweekly collections between May 2015 and April 2016. Specimens of the genus deposited in the Universidade Federal do Paraná, Palotina Campus Herbarium were also analyzed and included in this study. A total of 30 collections were carried out in both areas, and 52 specimens were obtained. From this total, 30 were analyzed. For the identification, macroscopic and microscopic characteristics were evaluated according to standardized techniques for this group of fungi. A total of 18 species were identified: Pluteus argentinensis, P. cervinus, P. diptychocystis, P. dominicanus var. hyalinus, P. globiger, P. glaucotinctus, P. riograndensis, P. xylophilus, Pluteus sp. 1, Pluteus sp. 2, Pluteus sp. 3, Pluteus sp. 4, Pluteus sp. 5, Pluteus sp. 6, Pluteus sp. 7, Pluteus sp. 8, Pluteus sp. 9 and Pluteus sp. 10. The last species defined as sp. present possible new discoveries for science. The confirmation and description of the new species will extend the knowledge on the genus Pluteus in areas of Seasonal Semideciduous Forest, enabling a more detailed characterization for the local mycobiota. (sacaca) is a plant species growing in the Amazon region which is popularly used to treat disorders of the digestive tract. We investigated the antiulcerogenic activity and the mechanism of action of the major constituents of the bark of the plant, i.e., the essential oil and dehydrocrotonin (OHC, a sesquiterpene lactone present in large amounts in the bark). Using acute ulcer models induced by agents such as ethanol, HCllethanol, pylorus ligature, indomethacin, and stress in rats and mice, we observed that the essential 011 of the plant and OHC significantly reduced the ulcerative lesions in the various models studied. On the basis of these results, we investigated the possible mechanisms of action involved in the antiulcerogenic action of OHC and of the essential oil. OHC did not increase mucus production by glandular cells isolated from the stomach of rats and had no antioxidant activity on mitochondria isolated from the liver of rats. On the other hand, OHC antagonized in a noncompetitive manner the H2 receptors of histamine in the isolated guinea pig atrium and the M1 receptors, in the isolated rat stomach. Furthermore, OHC caused an increased PGE2 production/synthesis by the cells of the gastric mucosa of rats. OHC did not heal preestablished ulcer in rats after 14 days of treatment. The essential oil altered the acidity and volume of gastric juice when administered intraduodenally, demonstrating a systemic action, increased the production of mucus by glandular cells of the rat stomach, and increased PGE2 production/synthesis by cells of the rat gastric mucosa. In addition, the essential oil was able to heal (a 32% cure rate) preestablished ulcers in rats after 14 days of treatment with the same potency as cimetidine. The present results indicate that the popular use of sacaca infusion containing the essential oil to treat gastrointestinal disorders is perfectly justified by the activities of its major constituents / Doutorado / Doutor em Ciências Biológicas

O. Grose. through cuttings and growing of the in vitro. At the first experiment, the vegetable matter was formed of cuttings that were taken from the basal and apical part of young seedlings of seminal origin. The bases of the cuttings were treated by concentrated solutions containing 0, 1.000, 2.000 and 4.000 mg.L-1 of IBA and inoculated into trays with vermiculite and sand, they were kept in greenhouse with intermittent mist system and shading of 70%. The experiment was arranged in experimental design of randomized blocks with factorial arrangement 2x4 then evaluated after 120 days. For in vitro cultivation, seeds, with seed coat, were previously washed with detergent and water. Subsequently, in a laminar air flow (LAF), the skins were removed and the seeds were exposed to ethanol of 70% for 3 minutes and sodium hypochlorite (2.5%) for 5; 10; 15; 20; 25 and 30 minutes. A triple wash with distilled water sterilized from the seeds was carried out and the inoculation started in culture medium consisting of basic salts of MS. The used design was completely randomized, with 7 treatments with 10 repetitions. Each species was considered an independent experiment. Considering the conditions in which the first experiment was conducted, it is technically feasible the vegetative propagation of S. macrophylla and T. serratifolius, by rooting cuttings from the seminal source material strains originated from seminal even though it did not use AIB. basal cuttings S. macrophylla have higher rooting. For in vitro germination, the number of roots by H. serratifolius stake doubled compared to control at a concentration of 4000 mg L-1 of AIB. The aseptic with 70% of alcohol associated with sodium hypochlorite is effective and it is recommended the time of 15 min. for S. macrophylla and 5 min. for H. serratifolius. The use of sodium hypochlorite over 5 min. H. serratifolius reduced the percentage of seed germination.

In Brazil, Roraima State has appropriate soils and climate conditions for its cultivation in savanna (lavrado) and rainforest areas, with wide altered/degradatedareas to be converted into productive fields. Cultivation outside floodplains can improve fruit availability, since flowering occurs almost all year round and more pronounced fruiting in periods coinciding with the end of the dry and early rain seasons. The objective of this study was to evaluate the vegetative development of 6 camu-camu subsamples selected from INPA in a savanna area, in Boa Vista, Roraima, and in a transition savanna/forest area, in Mucajaí, Roraima. The experiments were conducted in two areas of EMBRAPA, the Água Boa Experimental Station, with coordinates at 2°39'59'' N and 60°50'21'' W, with climate type Aw, according to Köppen climate classification and at the Serra da Prata Experimental Station, in Mucajaí, Roraima whose geographical location is found at 60°58'40"W; 2°23'49"N, with climate type Am. For growth analysis, parameters such as basal trunk diameter (mm), plant height (cm), number of basal shoots and number of terminal shoots were evaluated. Measurements were made at 90 day intervals in order to define the growth curve of each subsample. At 30 months after planting in the savanna area, the UAT 1896-7 subsample showed a higher number of terminal shoots comparing to the other subsamples, and had higher development in height than UAT 1596-7 and UAT 1096-5 subsamples. The UAT 1596-7, UAT 1096-5 and UAT 0796-8 subsamples showed similar terminal shoots values forming a group with intermediate characteristics. Parameters in basal diameter and number of basal shoots, were not significant between the subsamples at 30 months after planting. However, there was more abundant flowering, especially in subsample UAT 1896-7, with 3195 flowers. The UAT 1596-7 andUAT 0796-8 subsamples showed similar values, with 470 and 400 flowers, respectively. The UAT 1796-7 and UAT 1096- 5subsamples presented 338 and 81 flowers, respectively. The subsample URUBU-2 showed no flowering. In the transition savanna/forest area, the UAT 1096-5 subsample showed the best vegetative growth, presenting higher number of terminal shoots, greater height, and early flowering comparingto the other subsamples at 30 months after planting. UAT 1896-7 and UAT 0796-8 subsamples showed no statistical difference from UAT 1096-5 regarding the number of terminal shoots, but showed slightly lower height, with a statistically significant difference. In relation to precocity, peak flowering occurred in January, 30 months after planting, with the UAT 0796-8 and UAT 1096-5 subsamples excelling over others, with 500 and 435 flowers in total, respectively. The experiment Genotype x Environment analysis was considered fixed for genotype (subsamples) and random for environments (areas of study). There was no difference between the two areas for all parameters evaluated including basal diameter (mm), plant height (cm) and number of terminal branches except for the number of basal branches. The interaction among subsamples and environments at 30 months after planting showed similar effects in savanna and savanna/forest transition, showing that the subsamples have stability in both areas.

So far, no data are available on mortality and recruitment rates from tree species in flooded forests in the Central Amazon. These data are essential to estimate the carbon balance in AGWB of different sucessional stages varying in stand age. The objective of this study is to estimate the carbon balance of the AGWB in permanent sample plots in different successional stages of the várzea in the Mamirauá Reserve (central Amazon) based on increment, mortality and recruitment rates. The permanent sample plots have area 1 ha and have been established in 1999 in different successional stages with current stand ages of 30, 135 and 250 years. From each tree with diameter at breast height (DBH) above 10 cm, the DBH was remeasured in 2008. Trees that died during the period 1999-2008 were registered. From trees that passed over the DBH of 10 cm during this period (recruitment), diameter was measured and the trees were mapped by theirs coordinates (x/y). The data from the forest inventory were transformed into estimates of AGWB and carbon storage (50% of the AGWB) by three allometric models using three predictors (DBH, wood density, tree height). Wood density was obtained from a data base, and tree height was estimated by species-specific regression models describing the relationship between DBH and tree height. Mean diameter increment rates declined with increasing stand age from 0,42 cm year -1 (30-year-old successional stage) to 0,35 cm year -1 (30-year-old successional stage) and 0,32 cm year -1 (250-year-old successional stage). The same trend was observed for the mean annual mortality rate which decreased from 4,28% (30- year-old successional stage) to 3,31% (135-year-old successional stage) reaching 3,33% in the 250-year-old successional stage. The trees with the highest mortality rates were: Cecropia membranaceae, Rhodostemonodaphne sp. and Pseudobombax munguba (30-year-old successional stage); Nectandra hihua, Oxandra riedeliana and Pouteria elegans (135-year- old successional stage); Mabea sp., Oxandra riedeliana and Paramachaerium ormosioides (250-year-old successional stage). However, the mean annual losses of AGWB were much higher in the 135-year-old and 250 year-old stands (4,2 Mg ha -1 year -1 and 5,3 Mg ha -1 year -1 , respectively) in comparison to the 30-year-old stage (3,1 Mg ha -1 year -1 ). The mean AGWB production from the remaining trees declined along the sucessional gradient from 6,8 Mg ha -1 year -1 (30-year-old stand), to 6,2 Mg ha -1 year -1 in the 135-year-old stand to finally 5,1 Mg ha - 1 year -1 in the 250-year-old successional stage. The recruitment only contributed 0,60 Mg ha -1 year -1 in the 30-year-old stage, 0,24 Mg ha -1 year -1 in the 135-year-old stage and 0,30 Mg ha -1 year -1 in the 250-year-old stage. Estimating the carbon balance (AGWB gained by increment of the remaining trees and recruitment minus losses of AGWB by tree mortality) indicates that the young successional stage has a carbon sequestration of 2,0 Mg C ha -1 year -1 . With increasing stand age the carbon sequestration decreases to 1,1 Mg C ha -1 year -1 in the 135- year-old stage and reaches an equilibrium in the oldest stand. The AGWB only has a significant function in the carbon sequestration in first decades of primary succession. Mature forests above 200 years old indicate an equilibrated carbon balance in AGWB.

In Brazil, the family is represented by the genus Sloanea, with circa 40 species, and the genus Crinodendron with a single species native to the cloud forests of Santa Catarina in South Brazil. This work is a taxonomic treatment for the species of Sloanea occurring in the Ducke Reserve, located nearby Manaus, Central Amazon. The treatment includes identification to key species, followed by morphological descriptions, list of material examined, taxonomic and ecological notes, and illustrations and distribution maps for each species. To confirm the name of each species found in the area, I used published descriptions and keys from floras and monographs, illustrations and digital images of types. Eighteen species in total and three new species to science were recognized. Species differed on vegetative characters and it was possible to elaborate a key based only on these characters. Flower characters and mainly those from the stamen may be essential to allow the correct identification. Although some taxonomic problems could be solved by this study, the number of samples of Sloanea for the area remains low, making it difficult to understand the morphological similarities and differences among species. The lack of fertile material for one species (Sloanea sp. D) precluded its correct identification. More collections are needed for the diversity of Sloanea to be fully understood, not only from the Ducke Reserve, but over the whole Amazon region.

We used the methodology typical of phytosociological surveys, analyzed Soil samples and measured the distance between the clearings and the edge of the forest. We used Canonical Correspondence Analysis (CCA) to examine the relationship between the floristic composition and the environmental variables. All 10 gaps had low diversity and evenness and a larger number of pioneers than the climax species, with a greater concentration of specimens in the lower height classes, and included exotic species. Herbaceous species predominated in gaps 19, 25 and jazida 33 while woody species predominated in jazida 21, jazida 22 and RUCs and LUCs. Some gaps almost completely closed canopy layers with the understory poorly stratified, mainly when the the canopy was dominated by exotic species as Clitoria racemosa and Syzygium jambolanum or there was densgrowth of native species of Inga. According to the CCA, the occurrence of the most frequent species, Bellucia grossularioides, and the most abundant species, Fimbristylis diphylla, are related to lower levels of Al and Ca respectively. The occurrence of the majority of herbs (Poaceae and Cyperaceae) was positively related to Al concentration and the distance between the clearing and edge of the forest, while that of most of woody species were related with moderate levels of Mn. The gaps (19 and 25) are related with herbaceous species while deposits, RUCs and LUCs are more related to woody species. The gaps 19 and 25, deposits, RUCs and LUCs are associated with Al, distance between gap and edge of the forest and low concentrations of Mn. The results indicate that the clearings were in the early stages of ecological succession and that the exotic species S. jambolanum and C. racemosa, and the native species of the Inga, are the main inhibitors of natural regeneration of native species.

In Brazil, 122 species in 9 genera are distributed throughout the country, but they are most diverse in the Amazon rainforest where it is one of the most abundant families. It is known worldwide as "Brazil nut family" because the seeds of Bertholletia excelsa, which is the commercially most important species of the family. As although it is one of the most important families in the Amazon there are few anatomical and morphological studies of the family. The collection of fertile material is hampered by the height of the trees and the irregularity of flowering and fruiting. Because species are very similar in vegetative morphology, it is very difficult to identify them when they are sterile. Thus, this study we examined the morphology of 10 species of Lecythidaceae and sought useful characters of leaf anatomy to determine these species. We observed 57 external morphology characters, both vegetative and reproductive, and 84 leaf anatomy characters. These served as a basis for the development of identification keys and descriptions of the species. From the external morphological characteres we made a key to identification using both reproductive and vegetative characters and also a key using only vegetative characters, which proved reliable in species identification. The characters of leaf anatomy were used to prepare a another key based on the pattern of leaf venation and a further key based on characters of the leaf blade, midrib and petiole. The venation pattern was very similar among species and was not considered a helpful character in taxonomy of Lecythidaceae and other anatomical features were more important in separating the species. The midrib showed the most important characters for reliably determining the species. Because the leaves are found throughout the year in the trees, it makes possible to identify the species even in the vegetative stage using simple and quick techniques of leaf anatomy.

SANTOS, Simone Cristina dos 02 December 2016 (has links)
The species Lactuca sativa L. and Allium cepa L. are among the most used as test organisms in plant bioassays. The knowledge of the cultivars about the physiological and genetic aspects is a fundamental step for the standardization and selection of the best genotypes for bioassays. The objective of this work was to characterize, classify and later validate with CdSO4 the cultivars of Lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) and Cebola (Allium cepa L.) on germination, initial growth and cytogenetic parameters. For this purpose, seeds of 14 cultivars of Lettuce and 13 of commercially obtained Onion were germinated in Petri dishes (70 mm) with 3 mL of distilled water. Plates were mounted in B.O.D (24 ° C) with photoperiod of 12 hours. The evaluated parameters consisted of: percentage of germination, rate of germination, number of normal seedlings, root and shoot length, fresh and dry biomass, mitotic index, chromosomal abnormalities and DNA content. The data were submitted to analysis of variance, the averages being compared by means of the Scott-Knott test (p <0.05), and to the multi-criteria analysis, using Technique for Order Preference by Similarity (TOPSIS) to obtain a ranking of these Cultivars. According to the statistical analysis of the data, the cultivars of Lactuca sativa L. more suitable to the plant bioassays were Summer Babysitter, Great Lakes and Grand Rapids, while for Allium cepa L. Periform Bay, Gold Valley and White Creole were highlighted. From the ranking obtained by TOPSIS, Summer Babysitter and Periform Bay were the best cultivars for Lettuce and Onion, respectively. Both presented higher frequency of chromosomal abnormalities, being chromosome lost and stickiness the predominant anomalies in L. sativa L. and A. cepa L. respectively in the controls. In the toxicity test with the presence of Cadmium metal, the cultivars of both species were sensitive, since the metal interfered in the root and shoot extension, fresh biomass and mitotic index, and increased the frequency of chromosomal abnormalities except For Creole, since Cadmium stimulated the IM. / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES
