Výpočetní omezená racionalita / Computational Bounded RationalityČerný, Jakub January 2017 (has links)
This thesis formalizes a model of bounded rationality in extensive-form games called game-playing schemata. In this model, the strategies are repre- sented by a structure consisting of a deterministic finite automaton and two computational functions. The automaton represents a structured memory of the player, while the functions represent the ability of the player to identify efficient abstractions of the game. Together, the schema is a realization of a pure strategy which can be implemented by a player in order to play a given game. The thesis shows how to construct correctly playing schema for every pure strategy in any multi-player extensive-form game with perfect recall and how to evaluate its complexity. It proves that equilibria in schemata strategies always exist and computing them is PPAD-hard. Moreover, for a class of efficiently representable strategies, computing MAXPAY-EFCE can be done in polynomial time. 1

Algebraický přístup k CSP / Algebraický přístup k CSPBulín, Jakub January 2010 (has links)
For a finite relational structure A, the Constraint Satisfaction Problem with template A, or CSP(A), is the problem of deciding whether an input relational structure X admits a homomorphism to A. The CSP dichotomy conjecture of Feder and Vardi states that for any A, CSP(A) is either in P or NP-complete. In the first part we present the algebraic approach to CSP and summarize known results about CSP for digraphs, also known as the H-coloring problem. In the second part we study a class of oriented trees called special polyads. Using the algebraic approach we confirm the dichotomy conjecture for special polyads. We provide a finer description of the tractable cases and give a construction of a special polyad T such that CSP(T) is tractable, but T does not have width 1 and admits no near-unanimity polymorphisms.

Convenience to the Cataloger or Convenience to the User?: An Exploratory Study of Catalogers’ JudgmentHasenyager, Richard Lee, Jr. 05 1900 (has links)
This mixed-method study explored cataloger’s judgment through the presence of text as entered by catalogers for the 11 electronic resource items during the National Libraries test for Resource Description and Access (RDA). Although the literature discusses cataloger’s judgment and suggests that cataloging practice based on new cataloging code RDA will more heavily rely on cataloger’s judgment, the topic of cataloger’s judgment in RDA cataloging was not formally studied. The purpose of this study was to study the differences and similarities in the MARC records created as a part of the RDA National Test and to determine if the theory of bounded rationality could explain cataloger’s judgment based on the constructs of cognitive and temporal limits. This goal was addressed through a content analysis of the MARC records and various statistical tests (Pearson’s Chi-square, Fisher’s Exact, and Cramer’s V). Analysis of 217 MARC records was performed on seven elements of the bibliographic record. This study found that there were both similarities and differences among the various groups of participants, and there are indications that both support and refute the assertion that catalogers make decisions based on the constructs of time and cognitive ability. Future research is needed to be able to determine if bounded rationality is able to explain cataloger’s judgment; however, there are indicators that both support and refute this assertion. The findings from this research have implications for the cataloging community through the provision of training opportunities for catalogers, evaluating workflows, ensuring the proper indexing of bibliographic records for discovery, and recommended edits to RDA.

Direct and Large-Eddy Simulations of Wall-Bounded Turbulent Flow in Complex GeometriesGao, Wei 01 1900 (has links)
Direct and large-eddy simulations of wall-bounded turbulent flows in complex geometries are presented in the thesis. To avoid the challenging resolution requirements of the near-wall region, we develop a virtual wall model in generalized curvilinear coordinates and incorporate the non-equilibrium effects via proper treatment of the momentum equations. The wall-modeled large-eddy simulation (WMLES) framework is formulated based on the wall model, accomplished via the stretched-vortex subgrid scale (SGS) model for the LES region. Based on this, we develop high-resolution in-house CFD codes, including direct numerical simulation (DNS), wall-resolved simulation (WRLES) and WMLES for wall-bounded turbulence simulations in complex geometries.
First, we present LES of flow past different airfoils with Rec, based on the free-stream velocity and airfoil chord length, ranging from 104 to 2.1106. The numerical results are verified with DNS at low Rec, and validated with experimental data at higher Rec, including typical aerodynamic properties such as pressure coefficient distributions, velocity components, and also more challenging measurements such as skin-friction coefficient and Reynolds stresses. The unsteady separation behavior is investigated with skin friction portraits, which reveal a monotonic shrinking of the near wall structure scale.
Second, we present LES of turbulent flow in a channel constricted by streamwise periodically distributed hill-shaped protrusions. Two Reynolds number cases, i.e. Reh=10595 and 33000 (based on the hill height and bulk mean velocity through the hill crest), are utilized to verify and validate our WMLES results. All comparisons show reasonable agreement, which enables us to further probe simulation results at higher Reynolds number (Reh=105). The Reynolds number effects are investigated, with emphasis on the mean skin-friction coefficients, separation bubble size and pressure fluctuations. The flow field at the top wall is evaluated with the empirical friction law and log-law as in planar channel flows.
Finally, we present DNS of flow past the NACA0012 airfoil (Rec=104, AoA=10) with wavy roughness elements located near the leading edge. The effects of 2D surface roughness on the aerodynamic performance are investigated. For k8, massive separation occurs and almost covers the suction side of the airfoil dominating the airfoil aerodynamic performance.

Využití vedlejších materiálů z výroby kameniva do vozovky / The use of the secondary aggregates to pavementHurtiš, Maroš January 2019 (has links)
The master thesis deals with the possibilities of using waste aggregate from main rock production to hydraulically bound mixtures, witch are used in base and sub base pavement. The theoretical part describes conditions and properties of bound mixtures, aggregates and cement. The practical part describes the process of design, mixture preparing and laboratory test carried out on them. The bound mixtures are testing in compressive strength, frost and water resistace and resilient modulus.

Closing the Gaps in Rural Healthcare in Texas: A Formative Bounded Case StudyBogel, Marianne 01 January 2019 (has links)
Maldistribution of healthcare professionals persists in remote and rural communities throughout the world. Adoption of a Community Paramedic (CP) program could improve access to quality healthcare for rural communities. The conceptual framework defined rural communities by their distinct characteristics — community efficacy, weaknesses, attitudes, assets, deficits, local culture, and the driving and restraining forces — and not defined by their small populations or distances to cities. The theoretical foundation was a synthesis of theories of Bandura, Rogers, and Lewin. This study assessed community characteristics that may influence the likelihood of success, sustainability, or program failure of the Australian CP model in a single remote Texas border community. In this qualitative formative bounded case study, 3 bounded groups were examined; data collection was by in-person interviews. Group members were purposively selected: 5 residents and 3 EMS members. The 3rd group consisted of 4 randomly self-selected resident interviews, field observations, news articles, and local social media. Data transcripts were coded using theoretical coding based on the conceptual framework and theoretical foundation. Strong individual and group efficacy, efficacy resilience, adaptability, strong communications, overlapping groups, and a strong sense of community program ownership were evident in this study. The probability of establishing an effective CP program based on the Australian model is high based on study findings. Improved access to quality healthcare in remote and rural communities could result in improved health of community members and significant social change.

Price models with weakly correlated processesRichter, Matthias, Starkloff, Hans-Jörg, Wunderlich, Ralf 31 August 2004 (has links)
Empirical autocorrelation functions of returns of stochastic price processes show
phenomena of correlation on small intervals of time, which decay to zero after a
short time. The paper deals with the concept of weakly correlated random processes to describe a mathematical model which takes into account this behaviour of
statistical data. Weakly correlated functions have been applied to model numerous
problems of physics and engineering. The main idea is, that the values of the functions at two points are uncorrelated if the distance between the points exceeds a
certain quantity epsilon > 0. In contrast to the white noise model, for distances smaller
than epsilon a correlation between the values is permitted.

Vo svetle intuicionizmu: dve štúdie v teórii dôkazov / In the Light of Intuitionism: Two Investigations in Proof TheoryAkbartabatabai, Seyedamirhossein January 2018 (has links)
In the Light of Intuitionism: Two Investigations in Proof Theory This dissertation focuses on two specific interconnections between the clas- sical and the intuitionistic proof theory. In the first part, we will propose a formalization for Gödel's informal reading of the BHK interpretation, using the usual classical arithmetical proofs. His provability interpretation of the propositional intuitionistic logic, first appeared in [1], in which he introduced the modal system, S4, as a formalization of the intuitive concept of prov- ability and then translated IPC to S4 in a sound and complete manner. His work suggested the search for a concrete provability interpretation for the modal logic S4 which itself leads to a concrete provability interpretation for the intutionistic logic. In the first chapter of this work, we will try to solve this problem. For this purpose, we will generalize Solovay's provabil- ity interpretation of the modal logic GL to capture other modal logics such as K4, KD4 and S4. Then, using the mentioned Gödel's translation, we will propose a formalization for the BHK interpretation via classical proofs. As a consequence, it will be shown that the BHK interpretation is powerful enough to admit many different formalizations that surprisingly capture dif- ferent propositional logics, including...

Cílování cenové hladiny s nedokonalou racionalitou: heuristický přístup / Price Level Targeting with Imperfect Rationality: A Heuristic ApproachMolnár, Vojtěch January 2020 (has links)
Price Level Targeting with Imperfect Rationality: A Heuristic Approach Vojtěch Molnár Abstract The thesis compares price level targeting and inflation targeting regimes in a New Keynesian model without rational expectations hypothesis. Economic agents instead form their expectations using heuristics-they choose between a few simple rules based on their past forecasting performance. Two main specifications of the price level targeting model are examined-the agents form expectations either about price level or about inflation, which is ex ante not equivalent because of sequential nature of the model. In addition, several formulations of the forecasting rules are considered. According to the results, price level targeting is preferred in the case with expectations created about price level under the baseline calibration; but it is sensitive to some model parameters. Furthermore, when expectations are created about inflation, price level targeting over time loses credibility and leads to divergence of the economy. On the other hand, inflation targeting model functions stably. Therefore, while potential benefits of price level targeting have been confirmed under certain assumptions, the results suggest that inflation targeting constitutes significantly more robust choice for monetary policy.

Beslutsfattande : En studie av näringslivet i Borås / Decision making : A study of the trade and industry in BoråsAlriksson, Victor, Ankarberg, Isabella January 2019 (has links)
Decisions can be made by following a rational model or by irrational bases. When decisions is based on irrational grounds the decision can follow the person's intuition, which is based on earlier experience. The individual might say they follow their intuition but in reality they are affected by their feelings. A problematic detail both for scientists and decision-makers when trying to analyze if they made a rational decision is that the brain actually have made a decision several seconds before it reaches your mind. In reality this means that it is almost impossible to know if a decision really is rational. The purpose of this essay is to study 47 decision-makers that are working in companies which are members of E-handelsstaden Borås. We have studied the decision-makers with the help of a questionnaire that shows how they describe the decision-making process from an idea to a decision. The answers from the questionnaire helped us to understand if they described their decision-making process as being based on a rational model. The analysis is done by reading relevant decision theory and literature which is compiled in the frame of reference. With our study we can come to the conclusion that there's a difference between men and women in how rational they describe themselves. In a comparison of the questions it shows that women describe themselves more rational than men in six out of nine cases. Both men and women aren't fully rational, in fact in average they are bounded rational. It means that they realize it's not possible to make fully rational decisions because of external factors which can affect the decision process.Note that the study is written in Swedish.
