Modelagem e simulação do circuito de moagem do Sossego. / Modeling and simulation of the Sossego grinding circuit.

Bergerman, Maurício Guimarães 10 August 2009 (has links)
The practice of computer simulation is traditionally used for the optimization of industrial grinding circuits. The methodology usually includes surveying campaigns at the selected circuit, followed by data analysis, mass balancing and modeling. The latter consists in fitting mathematical models of each process equipment. Once the simulator is calibrated, a number of simulations may be carried out in order to explore different operating scenarios, related to optimization on the basis of selected performance indices. The simulation is thus an alternative for extensive and expensive pilot plant campaigns, as well as industrial tests. Accordingly, simulation is a low cost and low time demanding alternative, allowing the detailed assessment of several flowsheet options and/or operation conditions, even though it demands a qualified person and a professional software. This work presents an application of computer simulation program carried out at the Vale´s Sossego industrial grinding plant, located at the south-east part of Para state. As the Sossego circuit includes the first large diameter semiautogenous mill installed in Brazil, the literature review was largely focused on operating and optimization aspects of such a process, thus seeking to consolidate this kind of knowledge in Brazil.

Homens de letras, homens de ciÃncia: discurso raciolÃgico na literatura brasileira em CanaÃ, de GraÃa Aranha / Men of letters, men of science: raciolÃgico speech in Brazilian literature in Canaan, Aranha

Ryanne Freire Monteiro Bahia 30 March 2016 (has links)
The starting question guiding this study is: how the races (s) discourse (s) is expressed (m) in Brazilian literature through the work Canaan (1902) Aranha? The overall aim of the thesis is to realize the racial speech modes of expression in the above work and establish the network of symbolic and social relations that dialogue directly and indirectly with his stance in his first novel which deals with immigration. More specifically, we seek to: a) analyze the way Aranha presented and discussed by means of their characters topics race, progress and civilization, key terms for the Brazilian racial speech; b) Peering social place Aranha and racial theories that influenced the "theses" presented in Canaan; c) Explore the way by which the racial ideology guided the debate on the bill of Brazil and the Brazilian identity; d) To investigate the senses of European immigration process (for Aranha, German) for Brazil and the relationship between blacks and whites in the early twentieth century and the beginning of the sword republic. Methodologically, there was a documentary research that had as data collection instrument to analyze the qualitative speech, following the basic guidelines of Orladi (1988, 1992, 1993) and Foucault (2009). In conclusion, it was realized that the literary work Canaan presented a kaleidoscope of related ideas to the common discourse at the time, since the nietzscheniano superman Lentz, passing to racial references Reef School to discuss, ultimately, the national identity and how this would be affected by foreign immigration phenomenon.

Mineworkers' quality of life in remote communities : a multiple case study in the Brazilian Amazon

Costa, Silvana Dunham da 05 1900 (has links)
The mining industry has long played a significant role in regional development in remote regions throughout the world. For the last two decades, the industry has faced high expectations regarding sustainable development and corporate social responsibility, particularly in remote and environmentally sensitive areas. Mining community models and mineworkers’ accommodation strategies in remote locations have varied greatly, yet there has been little documented reflection on the various models’ performance or on their implications for the quality of life (QOL) of mineworkers and their families and for the pre-existing local communities. This multidisciplinary case study research used a subjective quality of life approach to investigate the levels of satisfaction with QOL and specific aspects of QOL domains in three communities: the company town, the gate development community and the integrated community. The triangulation of data from qualitative and quantitative methods was used to examine the major QOL factors that should be taken into account by mining companies, local governments and policy makers when planning for mine development in remote areas. Findings suggest that differences exist between the mineworkers’ levels of satisfaction with specific QOL aspects and how QOL predictors are defined in distinct mining community models. Even though the case studies represent clearly different models of mining communities, in general, mineworkers in the three communities seem to be only moderately satisfied with their quality of life. It is also suggested that employees living in two almost opposite models—the company town and the gate development community—seem to have similar levels of satisfaction with overall quality of life, suggesting that the investment in infrastructure and services limited to the boundaries of the company town is not reflected in a generally improved perception of overall quality of life in this community. Findings also support the argument for an environmental and social impact assessment process for new mines in remote areas. This process should include a full and integrated consideration of the economic, environmental and social impacts of the workforce migration to remote areas and the consequent intensification of the already rapid urbanization of environmentally sensitive areas such as the Brazilian Amazon.

This ministry emerged from the cearense religious centenary starting in 1999, first of a divine revelation of leigman affirming that father Jecér Góes Ferreira was the grate leader chosen to constitute a new denomination within the Brazilian religious field. The grate concept desired by this new confessional denomination follower lies in its capacity to combine metaphysical elements of Christian’s theology with ordinary questions of these gentiles, which generates an extraordinary capacity to incorporate the ontological socialization mechanisms dispensed by the institution. Through the “Canaã theology” one can observe the real importance to the loyal followers of the moral aspects which is capable of certifying an aseptic conduct, sustained by the faith manifested in an absurd and unrecognizable divine power, the characteristic of doctrine is identified as being most important sense for these people’s lives would reside in the non conformism with wordy ways, from where one would reach the necessity to set forth a march towards the desired salvation for the description and analyses of the phenomenon studied here, I used categories taken from the common sense, used by “cananenses” in their process of community interaction which is built inter subjectively. It was possible to reach way the specific usage forms of these native categories, inducted into the community through the chirurgical work done by this church, to perform its efficient power over these followers through the reinforcement of ideas and values that era common un its members, and at the same time, showing the sententious and rewards that could be reach if determined believers which are elective, are adopted when referred to aspects related to the individual search of salvation.

This Dissertation, entitled Environmental Education in Canaan of Carajás: the Program of Environmental Education developed for the Vale Company at the Adelaide Molinari School. It aims in the context of the Line of Research Educational Public Politics of the Program of Posgraduation degree in Education (PPGED) of the Federal University of Pará. The Program of Environmental Education (PEA) of the Vale company is constituted in the researched phenomenon, being instituted as specific objective the analysis Program of Environmental Education developed for the Vale Company at the Adelaide Molinari Municipal of Fundamental Teaching School, located in the Vila Planalto, municipal district of Canaan of the Carajás-PA. The research has qualitative approach as methodological line, with observations in loco at the Adelaide Molinari School, having the interviewees' speeches as the bases of analysis of PEA from the Vale Company. The result of the research demonstrates that the Program of Environmental Education developed at the Adelaide Molinari School treats the environmental subject merely in the physical and naturalism aspects in detriment of the socio environmental subject . That fact favors indirectly the Vale Company, through your content orientation worked inside of the school, it not provokes the community's questions about to the degrading actions promoted by the company. The research pointed the lack of the starting of the Municipal Politics of Environmental Education for the local public power. It was also verified that that absence favors the action of the Vale Company, that it inserts its educational activities in the Municipal System of Teaching under the allegation of the existent partnership between the company and the power local public, which provokes that the Program of Environmental Education leaves its activity condition to be developed in the perspective of the education non formal and become a guideline of formal environmental education in the Municipal district.

This research aims to analyze the “social” corporate policies implemented in communities affected by mining-metallurgical projects. Its main objective is to identify how policies are structured, what communication strategies are used, and what are the socio-environmental impacts caused in affected communities. Critical social theory was used to analyze the data and information obtained, which involved mining companies from the three mesoregions that make up the state of Pará. In the empirical research, representatives of communities, government, corporate companies and private organizations were interviewed using the following methodological tools: on-site observation/interviews, field diary, writing and transcription of interviews, analysis and systematization of interviews, and essay writing. The main results of the research indicate that the "socially responsible" stance affirmed by the corporate companies is based on the need to create consensuses in the communities, to reduce local poverty and to establish the legitimacy of the company over the territory; and also that strategic communication methodologies have influenced the way of thinking and acting of those affected by the mining and the professionals involved, due to the existence of life conditions materialized in everyday life and create illusory concepts to explain the reality of those who suffer the socio-environmental impacts of mining-metallurgical projects. In addittion, it is concluded that despite the economic growth generated by mining and the investment in “social” corporate policies to mitigate socio-environmental impacts in the cities surveyed the communities affected by mining-metallurgical projects continue to suffer from violations of rights and intensification of social, political, economic, cultural, territorial and labor inequalities.
