Para isto, realizou-se o levantamento dos insetos em potes da Carpoteca do Setor de Dendrologia do Departamento de Engenharia Florestal e da Carpoteca do Herbário VIC do Departamento de Biologia Vegetal, ambas da Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Cada pote foi vistoriado visando verificar a ausência ou presença de inseto. Esses insetos foram contados e os danos foram avaliados em amostras de no máximo cinco frutos ou sementes. Na Carpoteca do Herbário VIC não ocorreram insetos. Dos 1022 potes vistoriados na Carpoteca do Setor de Dendrologia verificou-se a presença de 1333 insetos em 10,08% dos potes. As ordens e famílias encontradas Curculionidae, foram Coleoptera Nitidulidae, (Anobiidae, Anthribidae, Lyctidae, Bruchidae, Byrrhidae, Scolytidae, Silvanidae, Corylophidae, Biphyllidae, Laemophloeidae, Phalacridae, Mycetophagidae e Lathriidae), Hymenoptera, Blattaria e Lepidoptera. As espécies de Coleoptera constatadas foram Tricorynus sp., Lasioderma serricorne, Stator bixae, Acanthoscelides clitellarius, A. schrankie, Acanthoscelides sp. e Merobruchus sp.1 e sp.2. A espécie predominante foi Tricorynus sp. (Anobiidae). Dos 103 potes infestados, injúrias foram constatadas em 74; em 45% destes os danos foramprovocados por Tricorynus sp., em 18% por Lasioderma serricorne (Anobiidae), 9% by Stator bixae (Bruchidae), em 4% por Acanthoscelides clitellarius (Bruchidae) e em 1,4% por A. schrankie (Bruchidae) e Merobruchus sp. (Bruchidae). Os insetos A. clitellarius e L. serricorne foram os que causaram maiores ataques nas sementes; nos frutos foram A. clitellarius e Tricorynus sp. Pelo índice de destruição, Lasioderma serricorne mostrou-se a espécie mais nociva às sementes, enquanto Tricorynus sp. foi em frutos. Constaram-se 35 famílias com 88 espécies botânicas, infestadas por inseto. As sementes da família botânica Sterculiaceae foram as mais danificadas, enquanto os frutos mais danificados pertenciam à família Vochysiaceae. / This work aimed to determine the major species of insects in carpological collection and to determine the most harmful species and the botanical family most attacked by insects. A survey of insects in pots at the Dendrologia Carpological Collection of and Herbarium Carpological Collection was carried out. Each pot was inspected to verify the presence or not of insects. These insects were counted and the damage was evaluated in samples of a maximum of five fruits or seeds. Among the 1022 inspected pots from the Dendrologia Carpological Collection, 1333 insects were present in approximately 10% of the pots. At the VIC Herbarium Carpological Collection, there were no insects. Coleoptera (Anobiidae, Bruchidae, Scolytidae, Curculionidae, Nitidulidae, Anthribidae, Lyctidae, Byrridae, Silvanidae, Corylophidae, Biphyllidae, Laemophloeidae, Phalacridae, Mycetophagidae and Lathriidae), Hymenoptera, Blattaria and Lepidoptera were the orders and families (in parenthesis) found. Tricorynus sp., Lasioderma serricorne, Sator bixae, Acanthoscelides clitellarius, A. schrankie, Acanthoscelides sp. and Merobruchus sp.1 and sp.2 were the Coleoptera verified within the families. Tricorynus sp. (Anobiidae) was the major pest species. Among the 103 infected pots, there were injuries in 74; 45% of damage was caused by Tricorynus sp., 18% of damage by Lasioderma serricorne (Anobiidae), 9% of damage by Sator bixae (Bruchidae), 4% of damage by Acanthoscelides clitellarius (Bruchidae) and 1.4% of damage by A. schrankie (Bruchidae) and Merobruchus sp. (Bruchidae). Acanthoscelides clitellarius e L. serricorne caused the most severe attack to the seeds; A. clitellarius e Tricorynus sp were responsible for the greatest damage to the fruits. Lasioderma serricorne was the most harmful species to the seeds, while Tricorynus sp. was the most harmful for the fruits as shown by the calculated destruction index. Thirty-five families in 86 botanical species were infested by insects. Sterculiaceae seeds were the most injured, as well as fruits in the Vochysiaceae family.
