Jogos de mesa para idosos: análise e consideração sobre o dominó / Board games for the elderly domino: analysis and considerations

Lopes, Ludmila Mara Banks Ferreira 28 April 2009 (has links)
Board games are a type of active leisure that promote the valuation of the elderly in society through the intensification of social relationships; they also promote physic, mental and psychic stimulus helping to reduce or retard the negative effects of the natural act of aging. The knowledge of design studies the objects and it`s relations with men and performs an essential hole in research, acting in the project and the production of game boards appropriated to the elderly considering syntactic, semantic and pragmatic aspects, contributing to guarantee the realization of quality leisure activities. This study analyses the domino, considering the preference of the elderly for this traditional game which is already culturally incorporated to leisure activities of this group of people and has been practiced regularly for men and women in public and private institutions. Several domino set types available in San Paulo city were selected for the analysis with the purpose of evaluating it`s adjustment to this group of people. The doctrinaire base for the analysis had as a reference the aspects of design related to the form (Gestalt issues), the colors, and ergonomics, involving mostly the drawing, the dimension and the handling of the pieces, besides considering also the specific necessities of the elderly, in due to the natural act of aging. The analysis highlight some fundamental aspects of domino, that provided the formulation of parameters to be considered in the project and production of other games designed for the elderly.

Dalgren, Sara January 2010 (has links)

Product development with a focus on integration of environmental aspects

Tingström, Johan January 2007 (has links)
Environmental awareness has increased during the past 2-3 decades, and companies have gone from simply following legislation to adding environmental considerations into their business plans. The ongoing developments make it interesting to study how leading companies integrate environmental considerations into their product development processes. The aim of this thesis is to study how environmental considerations can be integrated into the product development process. It is based on studies made in the Swedish manufacturing industry. The research has used both quantitative and qualitative methods. The foundation for the conclusion was derived from the four different studies building this thesis. The aggregated conclusion from the studies suggests a conceptual model consisting of four cornerstones that should be addressed in order to ease the integration of environmental concerns: the management, product development process, DfE Mindset, and DfE Tools. The development of this model has its foundation in industrial case studies that show how leading companies have integrated environmental considerations in an innovative way. Combined with the conceptual model is a discussion concerning the usage of existing tools and how sub-activities carried out within the development process are less formal than before. This non-rigid structure is in line with what is suggested in current innovation research for radical innovation, since it enables creativity to flourish and does not limit designers. This freedom of action for the creativity of the personnel in the projects has raised the environmental work to a new level. The thesis also suggests how to use analytical and dialogue-based tools in a development project. It is beneficial to have a dialogue tool in the beginning of a project and in a radical innovation project, while it is beneficial to have an analytical tool later on in a project if more that one tool is used or in an incremental innovation project. / QC 20100820.

The aim of the present study is to describe and analyse how an inter-cultural perspective presents itself in the didactic considerations and in the practice of preschool teachers on a multiethnic preschool. The theoretical perspective upon which the study is founded is social constructivism, but in addition to this Ingegerd Municio’s idea of two existing discourses present within the institutions in the Swedish educational system, as well as René León’s concept of a diversified normality, has been used as theoretical tools and points of departure. The empirical investigation consists of a qualitative field study at a multi-ethnic preschool, where participating observation and group interviews have been used to collect data. In these teachers from the preschool have participated. The results and the analysis of the data show that an inter-cultural perspective surfaces in the didactic considerations and in the practice of the preschool teachers in their construction of a diversified normality. The diversified normality thus constructed is constituted through different social processes.

Heidgren, Christina January 2012 (has links)
The purpose of this paper was to review how the assessment of compulsory psychiatric treatment of children and adolescents in Sweden, was motivated by the year 2002-07-01 - 2003-06-30. Through a qualitative approach, a content analysis of records was made with the purpose to help provide a transparent description of the material. The essay is based on records that were previously collected from all child- and adolescent psychiatry clinics in Sweden, which resulted in 142 patients aged 10-18 years and 159 records. The results from this paper, was then analyzed based on six ethical categories that justified the compulsory psychiatric treatment. The results shows that the justification of compulsory psychiatric care is usually evidenced by multi-justifications and that it’s seldom that there is arguments against the compulsory psychiatric treatment in the assessment decision. Persuasive arguments are used to clarify that there is no alternative care then compulsory psychiatric treatment.

Effects Of The Design Of Toys On The Child-toy Interaction In Special Education

Kilic, Emine 01 September 2007 (has links) (PDF)
The play materials designed for special education are commonly used by children with various disabilities. This study overviews these materials from the perspectives of special needs, special user groups and special education. Furthermore, the effects of different disabilities on the interactions of the children with the same toys are investigated, within the light of those special cases. The base of the study is constructed with a literature review on toys, play and special education, followed by observations that are performed in a special education centre with six subjects having different disabilities, namely Rett&rsquo / s syndrome, mental retardation, hyperactivity, Down&rsquo / s syndrome, cerebral palsy and autism. The study is concluded with compared results of the observations and design implications derived from the interactions between the toys and children.

Peditaric Feeding Disorders: Caregiver Perspectives on Child Healthcare in the Latino Population

January 2018 (has links)
abstract: Latino parents of children with feeding disorders completed a survey about their experiences accessing support and the cultural competence of their providers. This work is a follow-up project to a presented American Speech and Hearing Association Conference poster (Stats-Caldwell, Lindsay, Van Vuren, 2017). That project revealed caregivers’ use of social media and indicated an overall perceived lack of support from providers. In the present survey, Latino caregivers identified the resources they consult and rated the level of helpfulness in addition to the types of supports they sought and received from these resources. Results indicate a considerable reliance on pediatricians in both frequency of consultation and helpfulness ratings. No significant difference was seen between the frequency of consultation between pediatricians, speech-language pathologists and other service providers. No significant difference was found in the helpfulness ratings between speech-language pathologists and topic-specific social media pages, nor speech-language pathologists and grandmothers. Participants indicated reliance on social media for informational resources. The influence of social media is discussed. The cultural implications of treating this population are also reviewed. / Dissertation/Thesis / Masters Thesis Communication Disorders 2018
