HTTP Based Adaptive Bitrate Streaming Protocols in Live Surveillance Systems

Dzabic, Daniel, Jacob, Mårtensson January 2018 (has links)
This thesis explores possible solutions to replace Adobe Flash Player by using toolsalready built into modern web browsers, and explores the tradeoffs between bitrate, qual-ity, and delay when using an adaptive bitrate for live streamed video. Using an adaptivebitrate for streamed video was found to reduce stalls in playback for the client by adapt-ing to the available bandwidth. A newer codec can further compress the video file sizewhile maintaining the same video quality. This can improve the viewing experience forclients on a restricted or a congested network. The tests conducted in this thesis showthat producing an adaptive bitrate stream and changing codecs is a very CPU intensiveprocess.

Optimalizovaný streaming videa na platformě Android / Optimized Video Streaming on Android Platform

Spurný, František January 2017 (has links)
The subject of this term project is the analysis and description of possibilities in video streaming optimization, and the design of a client/server application to implement optimized video streaming in practice. The client side of the application is realized with a mobileapplication for the Android platform, which in addition to video streaming implements the functionality of a file manager over directories and files saved in the cloud.

Model adaptivního streamování videa přes HTTP / Model of HTTP adaptive video streaming

Kasianenko, Dmytro January 2016 (has links)
Key tasks of this work are to create the simulation of a wireless network in ns-3 and to stream a video over this network by using MPEG-DASH technology. It describes the tools and methods how to encode a video according to MPEG-DASH. It is explained what is needed to run video server, which uses MPEG-DASH technology to stream videos. Then, it is described how a simulation of wired and wireless WiFi and LTE networks is created. The simulation starts a server and shows how it works, how many nodes can be used and chooses suitable segment duration.

Association between Maternal Depressive Symptoms with Overweight/Obesity among Children Aged 0-5 Years According to the 2016 Demographic and Family Health Survey

Echevarría-Castro, Nataly, Matayoshi-Pérez, Andrea, Alvarado, Germán F. 01 July 2020 (has links)
Background: Overweight and obesity among children under the age of 5 have become a public health problem. The worldwide prevalence is 4.9% and 6.0%, whereas in Peru it is 7.4% and 1.9%, respectively. The causes of these problems are multifactorial and must be studied to prevent the multiple consequences on children's health. Methods: Secondary data analysis of the 2016 Demographic and Family Health Survey (DHS). The sample size was 7935 children and their mothers. The dependent variable was childhood overweight/obesity, measured according to the Z-score of the BMI >2 standard deviation (SD), while the main independent variable consisted of the maternal depressive symptoms (DS) (Patient Health Questionnaire-9 score >10 points). The software STATA/MP 14.0 was used for statistical analysis. Results: The prevalence of overweight/obesity among children aged 0-5 years was 4.5% and the prevalence of moderate and severe maternal DS was 7.1%. No maternal depressive symptoms were found to be associated with the outcome [adjusted PR = 1.36 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.59-3.09 p = 0.47]. An association was found between socioeconomic status (SES) Q3 (adjusted PR = 3.86 95% CI = 1.9-7.6 p < 0.0001), Q4 (adjusted PR = 5.53 95% CI = 2.76-11.1 p < 0.0001), Q5 (adjusted PR = 6.9 95% CI = 3.24-14.7 p = < 0.0001), maternal BMI (adjusted PR = 1.06 95% CI = 1.03-1.08 p < 0.0001), and cesarean delivery (adjusted PR = 1.42 95% CI = 1.01-1.99 p = 0.042). Conclusions: No association was found between maternal depressive symptoms and overweight/obesity among children aged 0-5 years. The upper SES quintiles, maternal BMI, and cesarean delivery were associated with the outcome. / Revisión por pares

Effectiveness of an ergonomic program for cosmetologists

Walter, Jacqueline 01 July 2010 (has links)
July 2010. "Submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Department, College of Allied Health and Nursing, Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida" Objective. The following research questions were posed: (1) Does participatory ergonomic education and programming influence occupational performance among cosmetologists? (2) Does ergonomic education and programming influence quality of life among cosmetologists? (3) Does ergonomic education and programming influence pain among cosmetologists? (4) Does ergonomic education and programming influence numbness and tingling in the upper extremities of cosmetologists? The purpose of this study was to: (1) implement a participatory ergonomic program for cosmetologists and (2) to examine the effectiveness of the implemented program in decreasing signs and symptoms associated with work-related musculoskeletal disorders. Method. A multiple baseline, single subject design was used. Data were collected from seven subjects for a total of 12 weeks. The intervention was introduced to subjects at different times throughout the study and consisted of general ergonomic education, a participatory ergonomic interview session, and basic range of motion stretches. Outcome measures included the QuickDASH, a 10-point pain scale, and a 10-point numbness and tingling scale. Data were analyzed using visual analysis techniques including the two-standard deviation band method and the binomial test method. Data trends were assessed to further support the results. Results. The results of this study indicate that ergonomic programming improved occupational performance, improved quality of life, decreased upper extremity pain, and decreased upper extremity numbness and tingling for several of the participants. The results of this study also produced statistically significant changes in QuickDASH scores indicating improved quality of life and improved occupational performance. Statistically significant change in pain scores and numbness/tingling scores indicated that several participants experienced decreased pain, numbness, and tingling in the upper extremity. Conclusion. The results of this study support the assumption that cosmetologists experience symptoms consistent with work-related musculoskeletal disorders and respond to participatory ergonomic programming similar to other working groups. The results of this study support the main principles of the participatory ergonomic approach which focus on involvement of the worker. The participatory ergonomic approach used in this study aligns with the client-centered principles found in the practice of occupational therapy and therefore provides evidence of effective occupational therapy intervention.
