Semantic Search and Retrieval in Radio LogsNossborn, Victor January 2024 (has links)
Troubleshooting radio devices that power modern mobile networks is currently a manual and labour-intensive process, where speed is crucial to minimize network downtime. Therefore, there is a strong interest in building a retrieval system capable of intelligent search and retrieval in radio logs. To facilitate effective retrieval, several retrievers were evaluated using different configurations. First, a RoBERTa language model was further pretrained on a dataset of unannotated radio logs. Then, a proprietary annotated retrieval dataset named the Event LogRetrieval (ELR) dataset was collected and utilized along with the MS MARCOretrieval dataset for training and evaluating the retrieval models. The evaluation compared different retrieval paradigms for log retrieval; evaluated the impact of further pretraining the language model on log data; and investigated which con-figuration yielded the best performance. The results of the investigation show that the late interaction retrieval paradigm used by the ColBERT model performs best for log retrieval. The results also showed that while further pretraining the language model on logs did improve the representations of log data, it did not improve the performance of the implemented retriever. The investigation into the retrieval datasets showed that fine-tuning on the small ELR dataset is insufficient and that fine-tuning on the larger MS MARCO dataset yielded better performance. The best performance was seen though when first fine-tuning on MSMARCO and then on ELR.

Classifying Driver Behaviour For Predicting Risk For Accidents : A case study of forklift operations / Identifiera beteendemönster hos truckförare för att förutspå risk för olyckaZachrison, Unn, Winqvist, Victoria January 2024 (has links)
This thesis explores the possibility of identifying risk behaviour patterns among forklift drivers through the analysis of telemetry data using unsupervised clustering algorithms. The objective is to predict whether certain behaviour patterns increase the risk of accidents. With the increasing accessibility of Internet of Things technology, data from forklifts has become more available, allowing for the study of driver behaviour. The telemetry data utilised is sourced from Toyota Material Handling Manufacturer Sweden’s internal database, collected from Data Handling Units that are installed on forklifts across Europe. This data, referred to as shock data, is triggered when a force is applied to the forklift, such as a collision. The thesis investigates combinations of various clustering algorithms and dataset modifications. The evaluation of the results is conducted using several quantitative measures and visualisation, along with analysis of time distribution, geographical placement, comparison of forklift models, and comparison with "no-shock" data. The evaluation yields K-Prototypes and K-Means as the best performing algorithms, while indicating that soft clustering and density-based clustering are not well-suited for the data. The identified best performing algorithms reveal two recurring driver behaviour patterns: the first one being driving forward at high speed with the lift motor idle, and the second pattern being driving backward at low speed while lowering the forks. Furthermore, a majority of the data points remain unclassified into specific behaviour patterns, suggesting that the dataset or methods used may not be sufficient enough. The inclusion of additional featuers, such as steering angle and forklift height, should be considered for exploration in future work. The thesis demonstrates the feasibility of identifying risk behaviour patterns, with potential for future research expanding on the findings to further contribute to the prevention of workplace accidents involving forklifts.

The effect of a mixed-capability vehicular fleet on Vulnerable Road User safetySjögren, Nicholas, Vu, Huy January 2024 (has links)
This thesis investigates the integration of vehicles with differing levels of automation and connectivity within suburban traffic systems, focusing on their impact on road safety, traffic efficiency, and risk, particularly concerning vulnerable road users. By employing a Cooperative and Connected Automotive Mobility (CCAM) framework, the study examines how vehicles that share real-time information and intentions under different CCAM configurations influence the dynamics of suburban mobility. Utilizing simulation tools like SUMO and Artery, this research conducts multiple traffic scenario simulations to capture the interactions between automated, connected, and conventional vehicles. The simulations specifically target the implementation of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) protocols such as ETSI ITS-G5, directed by the European standard, assessing their efficacy in fostering safer and more efficient suburban environments. The parameters used to determine the performance of a scenario are number of emergency brakes, collisions, average vehicle speed, average relative speed and ratio of departed speed. The findings aim to provide actionable insights into deploying advanced vehicular technologies, ensuring their beneficial integration into increasingly complex suburban traffic networks, thus supporting global road safety initiatives like Vision Zero. This project shows that safety-wise, the general mix of vehicles that provide the safest traffic conditions are the heterogenous mix of 50% automated, with higher levels of connectivity contributing to better metric scores from an efficiency standpoint.

Supporting Relationships in Digital LibrariesAalberg, Trond January 2003 (has links)

The motivation for this work is based on two recognized research issues for digital libraries. One is the need for interlinked and semantically rich information spaces where relationship information is of particular importance. The other is the serviceoriented architecture of digital libraries. The digital libraries of the future will consist of smaller and independent systems that each will provide different functionality and access to different contents.

This work defines and explores a service for managing and using explicit relationships – the Digital Library Link Service. The service implements an instance-oriented approach to relationships that enables any kind of typed relationship to be created among the information objects of digital libraries. The service can be used to create consistent information spaces on top of digital library repositories and enables an associative organization and retrieval of information objects.

This work shows that the use of a fine-grained relationship model implemented as distributed objects enables distribution of the relationship network while still being able to support constraints and maintain consistency. The cost of this, however, is a complexity that can reduce performance and scalability due to the call latency of network communication. A prototype is developed that utilizes caching in order to solve this. Tests conducted show that this technique significantly contributes to the scalability and efficiency. This is particularly important when the relationship information is distributed across different processes with high calllatency in between.

The work further presents a prototype application for enhancing bibliographic catalogues with the rich set of relationship types defined in the bibliographic information model proposed by the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions – the FRBR model. The Digital Library Link Service is used to implement an index that facilitates the navigation of bibliographic relationships in order to explore bibliographic entities along the paths laid out by the FRBR model. This demonstrates the applicability of the service as a flexible tool for associative organization of information objects.

The main applications of the service are limited to systems with a relaxed requirement in terms of automatic processing of larger sets of relationships. The main access paradigm explored for interacting with relationships is by navigation. The need for automatic and efficient processing of a large relationship network, e.g. for the purpose of indexing, can be supported by extending the system with additional functionality. Another recognized problem is that the use of CORBA references to address long-term persistent information can cause referential integrity problems. One possible way to solve this is to assigning objects globally unique identifiers that later can be used to recover from referential integrity problems.
