On the Requirements to Implement E-maintenance Cost effectively: Survey Study

Abu Daqqa, Nizar, Alan, Serkan January 2013 (has links)
Nowadays, companies started to realize the impact of a good maintenance strategy on the production process. Quality, performance as well as availability are affected by maintenance; existing maintenance strategies help to optimize the production process to achieve high quality products with a low production cost. A new strategy of maintenance has immerged recently, e-maintenance provides an easy solution to follow up with maintenance, it provides condition monitoring, documentation, and it also gives you the best maintenance solution that fits your goals and vision. Articles related to e-maintenance was studied and analyzed to know the steps to implement a cost-effective e-maintenance. The authors came up with a model that describes the implementation process in three main steps.

A numerical study of single-machine multiple-recipe predictive maintenance

Liao, Melody 01 August 2011 (has links)
Effective machine maintenance policy is a critical element of a smooth running manufacturing system. This paper evaluates a multiple-recipe predictive maintenance problem modeled using a M/G/1 queueing system. A numerical study is performed on an optimal predictive maintenance policy. A simulated job-based maintenance policy is used as a baseline for the optimal policy. We investigate the effects of varying degradation rates, holding costs, preventive maintenance times, and preventive maintenance costs. We also examine a two-recipe problem. / text

Best Practice Maintenance in New Zealand Industry

Moore, James Thomas January 2013 (has links)
Mighty River Power have recognised Geothermal generation as a major strength and growth area for development in the medium term. The company has identified a need to improve maintenance effectiveness and reduce costs. This report investigates current New Zealand maintenance strategies in order to benchmark the effectiveness of Mighty River Power’s current maintenance scheme. The report identifies gaps in Mighty River Power’s current maintenance approach and provides recommendations to improve and optimise maintenance strategy based on case studies in both power generation and related asset-intensive industries.

Comparison of the Navy Working Capital Fund and mission funding as applied to Navy shipyards

Cain, Andrew M. 06 1900 (has links)
The dramatic political and economic events, both globally and within the United States, during the early 1990s led to significant changes to the Navy shipyard organizational structure. As part of the Navy maintenance regionalization and consolidation program, the financial management system used to manage these commands has been changed. Specifically, the Navy has shifted two of its four shipyards, with authorization to shift the other two in FY07, from the Navy Working Capital Fund to mission funding through direct congressional appropriations. This funding shift has raised questions about the advantages and disadvantages each financial system provides shipyards, the operating differences that occur due to the funding change, and the future financial consequences of funding Navy shipyards using direct appropriations. This thesis identifies the advantages and disadvantages of the Navy Working Capital Fund and the mission funding model in the context of a Navy shipyard environment and determines whether the change in financial structure provides an overall benefit that should be pursued for all shipyards. / US Navy (USN) author.

Contribution à la prise de décision dynamique en maintenance prévisionnelle par formalisation d'un principe d'opportunité / Contribution to dynamic decision-making for predictive maintenance : formalisation of an opportunity principle

Thomas, Edouard 15 July 2009 (has links)
The needs to produce “more”, “better” and “cheaper” are today in line with a financial crisis which makes companies struggle with economical issues (related to the obligation to make profits), social issues (related to safety of men and machines) and environmental ones (related to the reduction of nuisance and pollution). At the equipment level, the system maintaining in operational conditions (SMOC) has to deal with these issues. Maintenance is the key process of the SMOC, and one of the most significant processes to lever up the global performances of the system when associated to a prognosis process. This defines predictive maintenance strategies. Those new forms of maintenance make numerous scientific as well as industrial issues rise, and some are tackled in the present document: When to perform a particular predictive maintenance action? How to group together several preventive maintenance actions? What is opportunity for maintenance? Answers to these questions make use of different mathematical tools, such as Bruss algorithm (in stochastic analysis) or equivalence relations (in algebra). Finally, an industrial application on TELMA platform is presented.
