Service Design / Service Design

Fišerová, Barbora Unknown Date (has links)
The diploma thesis describes the design of your own web application within the long-term collaborative project co.llaborate.online. In a small team, we reflect on our own workflow and designer work. Currently, the common goal is the design and development of MVP for processing text, images and other graphic material into any graphic output - graphic editor co.design. As part of the project, we have also focused for a long time on the concept of compatible MVPs for text editing or data management and user research. The starting point of co.llaborate.online is the principle of DRY (Don't repeat yourself) and the principles of web technologies. We test how certain workflows can be automated and facilitate the collaboration of designers, text authors, editors, proofreaders, etc., or emancipate users from unnecessary activities.

Proměny zpravodajských hodnot fotografiíí v ročenkách Týdne a Lidových novin / Shifts of news values of photographs in the year-books of Týden and Pátek lidových novin magazines

Werner, Lukáš January 2013 (has links)
The topic of the thesis is the comparison of photographs in year-books of magazine Týden and year-books of Lidové noviny newspaper from the point of view of the News values, as set by Johan Galtung and Mari Ruge and their successors, and also with respect to other qualities and values which are crucial in the process of selection of news photographs. The year-books of chosen media are the summaries of their production of given year, they are the selection of events which are considered the most important of that year. From the visual point of view, the year-books have much more space devoted to photography than their standard issues. The number of photographs and their size are therefore much higher. The thesis compares two pairs of year-books with a nine-year interval between them. This makes us compare the shifts and changes of their qualities in time, using a quantitative analysis research. The important part of the thesis is devoted to the routines of editorial staff, who are responsible for the selection of photographs. To explain this part, we used interviews with photo-editors or image editors. In these interviews we put emphasis on the very fundaments of editors work, the factors and circumstances which limit and affect his work and we also identified the values or qualities of photographs which are...

O narrador contemporâneo e a análise de originais / The contemporary narrator and the manuscript assessment by unpublished authors

Ferrari, Vanessa Ramos 18 April 2017 (has links)
From a corpus of six manuscripts which had been turned down for publication by Companhia das Letras in 2014, this paper analyzes the main characteristics of contemporary narrators based on their syntactic choices, narrative voice, jargon and crutches, originality, rhythm, verisimilitude, metaphors, dialogues and precision. The classification was achieved from the reading of manuscripts submitted for publication at Companhia das Letras by their authors from 2009 to 2015. While sorting these texts, five narrative types appeared more frequently and, therefore, a typology of narrators was created to systematize these narrative voices and their peculiarities. The narrators, named as Nostalgic, Moderate, Poetic, Snobbish, and Autobiographical are examined from the point of view of the editor, and through stylistics, for the complexity of the novel, textual criticism, and using Bakhtin\'s discourse analysis. With the help of the essays by Erich Auerbach, Bakhtin, Chekhov, H. S. Becker, Steven Pinker, Francine Prose, Stephen King, David Lodge, Schopenhauer and José Luiz Fiorin, this paper attempts to answer why so many authors rely on fragile stylistic resources of little expressive force and on false premises about good literature and the art of narration. The results point to narrators who do not know the difference between being able to communicate in a given language and using it as a stylistic instrumento Added to this, there is the complexity of the novel, a genre that contemplates endless possibilities and therefore turn assertive decisions more difficult. The study yet shows that narrators rely on an old idea of what good literature is - dogmatic, incomprehensible, complex, inaccessible and produced by a small group of writers. Lastly, also according to Bakhtin\'s theory, which states that every discourse is political and therefore molded by the power relations, the narrators use obscure and wordy narratives to disguise insecurities or feel protected from possible criticism.

Editor Choose The News And Graphic Design

Tsai, Pey Rong Unknown Date (has links)

Inger iterativ arbetsstruktur fler fördelar än nackdelar inom level design till Unreal Tournament 3? : Reflektioner kring arbetsprocessen bakom "DM-Theatre"

Berg, Kenneth Arcade January 2008 (has links)

Excellent in-house journals in South Africa : case studies of five leading publications / E. Wood

Wood, Elvira January 2006 (has links)
Although companies and organisations worldwide publish in-house journals, there is no comprehensive theory (including technical and normative dimensions) available on this important public relations instrument. In particular, no research is available on what the characteristics of excellent South African in-house journals are or ought to be. In this study a number of dimensions are thus introduced in order to help create a comprehensive framework for analysing in-house journals, in particular South Africa’s leading in-house journals. Firstly, James Grunig’s excellence in public relations theory (published in 1992), which incorporates the concept of two-way symmetrical communication (which in turn is informed by a “symmetric” world view), is put forward as basic point of departure. Secondly, a set of technical criteria for excellent in-house journals gleaned from a wide range of sources, is compiled. Furthermore, the internal and external environments in which South African in-house journals function are identified. The role of other new media (such as e-mail, intranet, television and radio) is also taken into account. Five leading South African in-house journals are then analysed and the views of editors reflected. It was found that Abacus (Absa Bank), Harmonise (Harmony Gold Mining Company), Hello the future (MTN), Pick ’n Patter (Pick ’n Pay) and Sandaba (Sanlam) all measured up well against the theoretical statements flowing from the said theoretical points of departure. However, the analysis did also bring to the fore deviations from the said statements which give new insight into what is required to publish an excellent in-house journal. In conclusion, the criteria are evaluated against some of the more detailed findings of the analysis and adapted to create a set of theoretically based guidelines that can be used by South African companies, focusing inter alia on how the unique character and environment of a company influence its internal communication, to create excellent in-house journals. In final analysis, it is argued that all factors, starting with the philosophical points of departure informing communication strategies, management’s attitude toward internal communication, organisation culture, the socio-political environment in which in-house journals function as well as the technical aspects of these publications, need to be considered when formulating criteria for “excellent” in-house journalism. This study thus endeavours to contribute to the professional integrity of public relations in a sea of asymmetric, marketing-driven internal communication. / Thesis (Ph.D. (Communication Studies))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2006.
