Effectiveness on Education and Training of Store Staff in Convenient Franchise Chain StoresStudy of Critical Success Factors - Example of a Convenient Store

Wang, Jhy-cheng 15 June 2009 (has links)
Since 2003, the density of convenient stores in Taiwan has surpassed it is in Japan and Taiwan has become one of the most competitive regions in the world. The business mode in modern convenient chain stores is established by a standard operating process to duplicate rapidly to form franchise in a short period of time and build up advantage of economies of scale. The advantage will then reduce the overall operating cost to increase the profit. In order to solve the problem of manpower shortage generated from the speeding expansion of stores, joining ¡§franchise¡¨ would become the ideal solution. The core development of known-how for the four major convenient chain stores, 7-ELEVEn, FamilyMart, HiLife, and OK, is based on business mode of franchise chain stores. As of the end of 2008, the total number of four major convenient chain stores has exceeded over nine thousand. The majority of them are franchise stores and the franchise rate reaches 87.5%. Therefore, how to establish a complete staff education training to ensure operating quality and maintain store competitiveness is one of the keys in the business strategy for main franchise branch. This paper uses a certain major convenient franchise store in Taiwan as the target, and focuses on the effectiveness on critical success factors of staff education and training in the convenient franchise store. This paper adopts AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), exploring from the reference and an interview in depth with company supervisors from the case to conclude five evaluation indicators of critical success factors and twenty-six success factors to create AHP questionnaires. Then, twenty-five senior store supervisors and franchise store managers were required to process questionnaire interview and select the critical success factors. The three top evaluation indicator of critical success factors in second layer of structure of the staff education and training in convenient franchise stores in order are: (1) staff attitude; (2) reward and punishment measures; and (3) training course planning. The top five critical success factors in the third layer of structure are: (1) the degree of learning requirement for part-time staff required by store manager; (2) vivid and lively teaching method; (3) degree of store learning atmosphere; (4) connection between learning effectiveness and franchise renewal; and (5) acceptance of store manager towards education training.

The training of a forensic accountant in South Africa / J.D. van Romburgh

Van Romburgh, Johannes Daniel January 2008 (has links)
Although the financial and social implications of the recent major corporate scandals like Enron, Parmalat and Fidentia (Cameron, 2007) were extremely severe and the reputation of the external auditor scarred, one could state that never before was the role of the external auditor so much under the spotlight and the global focus on fraud and corruption so intense. So, for example was the passing of the Sarbanes Oxley Act and S AS 99 in the United States merely as a direct consequence of a post-Enron remedial action (Silverstone and Sheetz, 2004:11-14). Not only globally, but also in South Africa, the focus shifted from mere expressions of opinions on financial statements to a greater awareness, detection and control of commercial crime. This is substantiated by what appears to be the large growth in private forensic investigative and accounting groups, increasing governmental investigative units and extensive media coverage of fraud and corruption scandals (i.e. Shaik, Leisurenet and Fidentia). The objective of this study is to highlight the important role(s) and prominence of South African forensic accountants through a conceptualization and clarification of: • the term "forensic accountant", • the services rendered by forensic accountants and the demand for forensic-related services, and • the importance of perceived benefits of forensic accounting training. The main objective of this study is therefore to determine a core curriculum content of topics of knowledge and skills required, which is essential to the training of a forensic accountant in South Africa. From the literature review and empirical survey, a definition for a forensic accountant is proposed, it was found that the future demand and interest in forensic-related services will increase, that benefits obtained from forensic accounting education were significant and a core curriculum of 46 forensic accounting topics were identified and ranked in terms of importance. / Thesis (M.Com. It is understood that the sexual education load of being worked without school interdisciplinary. We realize that there is no need for a specific discipline for this thematic, but the school must propose systematically planned actions for all activities developed in the theme. In this perspective the school managers, teachers and educators will be empowered through initial and continued to feel safe and prepared for such an action. The present research had the objective of investigating an interventional performance in sexuality of the school managers who participate in an extension course in sexual education of a municipal education network in the interior of São Paulo, seeking to know if actions and projects of sexuality in schools and is reflected in the political pedagogical project of its roots. The research was carried out in school units, but specifically at the headquarters of school administrators. About methodology consists of a qualitative and descriptive and analytical approach, being that they participate in the same series of managers who completed a training in sexual education. The instrument of data collection was a semi-structured interview. Concomitantly to this, we sought to analyze the Political Pedagogical Project (PPP) of the participants' schools about the insertion of sexuality themes as actions planned. The analysis of the results shows that managers could not articulates planned actions in the pedagogical political project due more unprepared to develop actions, such as projects focused on discussion of this subject in the school mains. What they have accomplished until the present moment were specific actions in the school scope. These findings point to the importance of the implementation of public policies about sexuality for all education professionals to participate in order to subsidize continuing education in this area so that they can be prepared and sensitized to the need for their inclusion in the PPP and the planning of intervention actions and projects without school law aiming to secure an emancipatory education

Education and security : design and evaluation tools for deliberate disease risks mitigation

Mancini, Guilio M. January 2016 (has links)
This thesis addresses the role of education to mitigate the risks of deliberate disease, including biological weapons. Specifically, it aims to analyse how education was constructed as a potential instrument to mitigate specific security risks; if and how education could impact on risks; and how effectiveness of education as a risk mitigation measure could be improved. The research framework combines concepts of security, risk and education within a general constructionist approach. Securitization is used to analyse attempts to construct education as a tool to mitigate specific security risks; risk assessment is used to identify and characterize risk scenarios and potential for risks mitigation; and instructional design and evaluation models are used for the design and evaluation of education. The thesis contends that education has been constructed as a mitigation tool for what were presented as urgent security risks of deliberate disease. Nine attempted securitization moves are identified and assessed. Improved competences identified in four thematic areas, and built with education, can mitigate risks in specific scenarios via impacting factors that primarily influence risk likelihood. The thesis presents several examples of achieved learning objectives, and tools that can be useful to evaluate behavioural and risk impacts, though empirical results on these levels here are still scarce. Design and evaluation tools, illustrated through a large amount of original and pre-existing data from a range of countries and contexts, are presented that can improve effectiveness of education as a deliberate disease risks mitigation measure.

Community counselling: a contextual curriculum design for Christian higher education in Africa

Smyth, Ashley A January 2006 (has links)
Thesis (MTech (Education))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2006 / A uniquely African framework for training community counsellors is urgently required to address the range and impact of contemporary community counselling needs in Africa. Training methodologies utilised in Christian higher education throughout Africa shoulddynamically reflect on the socio-cultural context in order to gain a regional understanding of community counselling needs and apply distinctively regional interventions. This study has found that a limited number of Christian higher education institutions in Africa is actively engaged in undergraduate training of community counsellors - primarily in the sphere of Christian counselling. At the same time, the range and severity of community mental health needs is accelerating rapidly, requiring a new generation of community counsellors who have received relevant and effective regional training at an undergraduate level of study. Presently, amongst those institutions where such training is provided, the emphasis within the curriculum has revealed a marked bias towards western knowledge constructs and values - particularly in parts of Africa where European influences are so strong. The study reveals that psychosocial phenomena as experienced in the context of developed societies of Europe and North America have questionable relevance to the distinctive regional challenges facing Africans today. This study presents a case for Christian higher education in Africa to adopt a uniquely African framework for training community counsellors to address the range and impact of contemporary community mental health needs. The study has explored a curriculum development process that dynamically reflects on the socio-cultural context in order to gain a regional understanding of community mental health needs to ensure that community counsellors are provided with effective intervention skills. A unique strategy for integrating the outcomes of such a community assessment into a relevant curriculum design is presented. This strategy comprises a four-step community assessment model utilising focus groups to investigate the range and severity of counselling needs in communities throughout the Great Lakes region (Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and Burundi). The results of this community assessment provide guidelines intended to assist Christian higher education in this regional selling to re-curriculate existing undergraduate curricula in community counsellor training and to develop new curricula. The author demonstrates how lessons learned from conducting one such regional study can be meaningfully applied to other regions on the African sub-continent. The global relevance of this study is reflected in the interface between the 'bio ecological systems theory' of Uri Bronfenbrenner (Bronfenbrenner, 1979) and the pedagogic paradigm developed in this study. Both emphasise the vital importance of exploring and understanding socio-cultural frameworks if training methodologies are to be psychologically and culturally valid.

The research thus had locus as a techie course in the distance and the historical assumptions of Personal Aesthetics and Image as wire guides the research object composition. The motivation for the choice of the proposed theme is justified by the lived experience of the researcher as a teacher at a basic level courses, technical and technological. The research methodology was created from the qualitative approach. As for the methodological procedures, we opted for the field research in light of the Actor-Network Theory. The work is organized into three chapters, the loom: the first wire, which presents the basic threads that underlie the construction of the research object and their meanings; Tessitura: A Trama Image and Meaning, which is the intertwining of the wire guides to the base wire for the formation of the plot, considering that tessitura some elements for data analysis, as sources that support or refute statements and declarations and Trama of meanings in the light of Latour's theory (2012), while theoretical framework that supports this research, were enlisted human and non-human actors who provided data for the construction and analysis relevant to the object. For data analysis was used as theoretical and methodological basis of the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD) methodology developed by Lefevre (2005) consisting of a set of processes and procedures resulting in speech synthesis, derived from individual speeches fragments gathered by similarity senses becoming significant matter. Constitutes as a methodological procedure for collecting information, the open interview technique with the teacher students of Technologist course Aesthetics and Personal Image in the distance the presence support pole / Manaus, criteria chosen for the sample universe, as well as interviews with tutors and pole coordinator, actors involved in the fabric that constitutes the investigated network. As a result, the study showed no discussion of the conceptual foundations of aesthetics and personal image in the training course technologist in the distance, limited access to technological mediators and their potential for human actors in the process of teaching and learning at the pole, descaracterizando thus the function of technological mediators for mere intermediaries factor that affects the development and quality of the offered course.
