Utilization Of The Illinois Test Of Psycholinguistic Abilities With Educationally Handicapped Children

Smith, Joan Melvin 01 January 1970 (has links)
This study was initiated to determine the value of the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities in identification, diagnosis, placement, and program development for children designated as Educationally Handicapped. Related to the problem were three basic questions: (1) Does the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities identify specific sensory modality deficiencies in Educationally Handicapped Children? (2) Do Educationally Handicapped boys differ from Educationally Handicapped girls in their sensory modal profiles? and (3) Are there differences between Educationally Handicapped boys who are performance oriented on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children and Educationally handicapped boys who are verbally oriented on the Wechsler Scale in their sensory modal abilities?

Perceptions Of Family Life Attitudes Among Male College Students And Their Fathers

Sprague, Helmar Duncan 01 January 1966 (has links)
The purposes of this study are: (1) to help fill an important void in the literature, the lack of substantive empirical investigation of relationships between generations of fathers and their sons; (2) to investigate the assumption that similar attitudes exist between fathers and their sons; and (3) to attempt to supply the necessary data regarding father’s and sons’ attitudes toward family life which may aid those who deal in a helping relationship with these fathers and sons.

Perceptual Approaches For Disadvantaged Anglo-American And Mexican-American Students

Leppke, Ronald Dean 01 January 1967 (has links)
The purpose of the study was to evaluate the extent of influence of pre-academic patterns of experience upon verbal and motoric ability. A second purpose of the study was to ascertain the relative merits of language development and perceptual training curricula in overcoming the academic handicap of low English language verbal ability. The study was specifically concerned with: (1) discovering if environmental indices such as parent occupation or frequency of adult-child verbal interaction relate to verbal and motoric scores, (2) documenting any effect of motoric influences upon verbal ability, (3) evaluating verbal and motoric environmental influences for their effect upon scores of motor and verbal ability, (4) comparing the effects of perceptual training and language development curricula with those of the typical curriculum, and (5) evaluating more general academic effects of bilingualism.

Differences In Personality, School Attitude, And Visual Motor Performanceamong Specific Types Of Underachievers

Bachtold, Louise Marie 01 January 1963 (has links)
It was the purpose of this study (1) to identify and to group underachievers in the fifth grade through achievement teat scores, report card ratings, and teacher evaluation; (2) to obtain a measure of personality characteristics, expressed attitudes toward school, and visual motor coordination; and (3) to compare the responses of each underachieving group with those of each other group, and with the responses of able successful students.

A Comparative Study Of Creativity In Comprehensive And Continuation High School Students, Grades Eleven And Twelve.

Chimento, Russell Louis 01 January 1973 (has links)
It was the purpose of this study to investigate and compare relationships which exist between the tested creative behavior or eleventh and twelfth grade continuation high school students and their counterparts in a comprehensive high school. Creativity scores were obtained for each of three ranked IQ groups of students tested at each of the two participating schools. Creativity scores were obtained for each of the four creative ability factors, Fluency, Flexibility, Originality, and Elaboration as measured by the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking, Figural--B.

A Comparison Of Two Approaches To Training For Mothers Of Kindergarten Children Evaluated As Deficient In Readiness Skills.

Eymann, Edythe Klassen 01 April 1974 (has links)
PURPOSE: It was the purpose of this study to compare the academic gains of kindergarten children showing six to eighteen months' deficiency in readiness skills as measured by the ABC Inventory in September, 1973. This comparison was based on parent education experiences and a structured mother-child games technique durinq the early months of the subjects' kindergarten school year.

The Accuracy Of Interpersonal Perception Of Junior High Age Adolescents And Their Fathers Of Mothers' Personality As Measured By The Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis.

Hill, Wayne Howard 01 May 1978 (has links)
The purpose of this research project was to determine whether junior high school age adolescents and. their fathers could accurately predict mothers' personality traits on the Taylor-Johnson Temperament Analysis (T-JTA) inventory. The relative accuracy of prediction was also determined for gender and average versus superior intellectual ability of junior high school students.

An Investigation Of The Relationship Between Creativity And Socio-Economic Status, Race And Sex Of Seventh-Grade Pupils.

McDaniel, Ennis Ray, Jr. 01 January 1973 (has links)
This study investigated the relationship between the selected variables of socioeconomic status (SES), race and sex of seventh grade students as measured by the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking. The Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking, Verbal Form A and Figural Form B were administered to 192 seventh grade students. Fouty-eight Asain, 48 black, 48 Spanish surnamed and 48 white students, each equally distributed across the SES levels were chosen using a partially stratified random sampling procedure. Half of each group was male. The data were analyzed using a three way analysis of variance procedure.

An exploratory investigation of the integration and reintegration of educationally handicapped pupils as related to selected organizational variables existing within schools

Noble, Edward Lee 01 January 1977 (has links)
PROBLEM The major problem under investigation was to determine the significance of organizational factors in schools on the ease of accomplishing the Educationally Handicapped program goals of integration and reintegration as prescribed by the State of California. PURPOSE The study's major purpose was to determine what effect, if any, do the organizational environments of schools have on program goals of integration and reintegration for the Educationally Handicapped? A secondary purpose o£ this study was to determine what effect, if any, do the selections of procedures used by teachers to return Educationally Handicapped pupils to the regular classroom have on the program goals of integration and reintegration for the Educationally Handicapped?

Sterilization Effects On Couples Measured By MMPI, CPI, PVA And Leary ITP

Cottrell, Joan Sweetland 01 January 1984 (has links)
In order to determine the effects of sterilization on couple dynamics, 182 couples (116 vasectomy couples, 30 tubal ligation couples, and 36 comparison couples) were administered the MMPI, CPI, PVA, Leary ITP, and a questionnaire both pre- and one year post-sterilization. Interpersonal, personality and demographic variables were analyzed using discriminant analysis, analysis of variance, or chi-square techniques to determine if any variables correlated with (1) the decision to undergo sterilization in general and (2) the decision for the male or female to be sterilized. The hypothesis that partners in the "sterilized" groups would have more symmetrically dominant interpersonal styles than partners in the comparison group was supported by the Leary ITP but not by the CPI. A number of other hypotheses such as changes toward more dominant styles in females and increased readiness for new experience (PVA Modernity scale) were not supported. Two unpredicted findings were (a) vasectomy couples had significantly more symmetrically affectionate relationships (P.L. .05) and (b) a non-significant tendency for tubal ligation couples to have less hostility in their relationships after sterilization. The utility of conjoint research in psychological investigations of sterilization was discussed.
