Perceived Change in Behavior Associated with Peer Feedback in Work TeamsDeJarnett, Nicole 08 1900 (has links)
This study investigated if the use of a team feedback system resulted in peers perceiving a change in behavior. Personality variables such as conscientiousness, agreeableness, and extraversion were examined as possible moderators. Self-ratings and peer ratings were collected from 164 individuals through the use of the Center for Collaborative Organizations' Team Feedback System. Using polynomial regression, it was determined that time 1 peer ratings predicted behavior change and the combination of conscientiousness variables moderated peer perceived behavior change.

Performance appraisal impact on employee career development and performance: A longitudinal study.Bhagwat, Tanya A. 12 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the implementation of an internally created performance appraisal system as well as the subjects' overall satisfaction with the implementation. The system was implemented at a major technology consulting firm in the US. The subjects of this study were three levels of employees of the firm. An employee survey conducted annually at the firm included questions relating to the implementation of the performance appraisal system. Eight years of employees' responses to three key questions were analyzed. Employees' perceptions of the appraisal feedback aiding increased performance, their belief about the implementation assisting with their career management, satisfaction with the initiative, and their understanding of the requirements for promotion were captured by this survey. Trend analysis indicates that employees at the firm perceived their career path knowledge unimproved, their understanding of promotion criteria unimproved as a result of the implementation. Employees did not indicate overall satisfaction with the implementation and the employee's belief about their skills and abilities utilization did not improve post implementation.

The assessment of individual performance is a process of measuring employee performance indicators. However, if employees do not perceive the process as fair, will react in the opposite way and boycott their own performance. Thus, one way of avoiding the ineffectiveness of performance evaluation is by stimulating fairness in carrying out this practice. Organizational justice is fundamentally important in understanding, anticipating and directing organizational behavior, since the way individuals perceive justice can condition or influence their behavior. The organizational commitment is related to the company's objective in knowing its employees in the work environment and to understand the variables that bind them to the organization, since the commitment of the individual is a unique and exclusive attribute, that is, it can’t be copied by the competition, representing a constant competitive advantage for organizations. The objective of this research was to evaluate the perception of organizational justice on the performance evaluation and to verify the relationship with the organizational commitment, in a concessionaire of collective transportation service, located in the city of Caxias do Sul. The study was an exploratory / confirmatory field of quantitative approach, carried out with the employees of the organization studied, where the tool of analysis of the perception of justice on the performance evaluation elaborated by Sotomayor (2006) and compared their relationships with the organizational commitment addressed in three dimensions with the use of the Meyer and Allen questionnaire (1997). The main results of this research are: that organizational justice measures are contextualized; it can be observed that the dimensions of distributive justice, interpersonal justice and informational justice have a significant and positive correlation with the dimensions of affective commitment, instrumental commitment and normative commitment; in a synthetic way it is possible to say that distributive justice and interpersonal justice predominate relatively in informational justice in the explanation of commitment; that employees are sensitive to the different dimensions of perceived justice over performance evaluation and that these perceptions affect their organizational commitment.

Conditioned acquisition and augmenting effects in causal attributions for employee performanceNieri, Lia Jean 01 January 1995 (has links)
A social analog of a short-delay conditioning paradigm in Pavlovian learning was used to test the prediction that under certain conditions, human causal judgments would reflect acquired response properties that can be either increased (augmented) or decreased (discounted). The learning experiment was masked by describing it as a study testing a computerized employee evaluation system.

Predicting long term job performance using a cognitive ability test.Alexander, Sandra G. 08 1900 (has links)
This study focuses on the relationship of one cognitive ability test on long-term job performance as measured by personnel data. Archival data from over 3,000 employees at an international technology company were used to assess how aptitude test scores relate to both objective and subjective job performance measures. Supervisory performance ratings, level of promotion, and salary increase significantly contributed to variance in test scores; however, these results were inconsistent. Number of training courses did not have a significant relationship with test scores. Additionally, type of turnover did not moderate the relationship between aptitude test scores and job performance. These results indicate that although aptitude test score is related to long term job performance factors, other factors account for the majority of the variance. The implication is that aptitude should not be the sole consideration when predicting long term job success.

Use of feedback to improve institutional staff performanceCrawford, Sue E. 01 January 1987 (has links)
The following study assessed the effectiveness of two simple and inexpensive performance feedback conditions in improving the job performance of institutional staff. Participants were care staff employed at a large center for the developmenta1ly disabled. During two 3 week sessions participants from two separate treatment units received publicly posted feedback graphs with either their own personal names or self-chosen anonymous codes to designate whose graphs were whose. These graphs were posted in each unit's training room and depicted participant performance (use of rewards and prompts) during behavioral training sessions with developmentally disabled clients. These two conditions were investigated to determine whether designation by proper name is important in the effectiveness of public feedback. It was hypothesized that the use of personal names would have a greater effect than anonymously coded feedback. Results indicated that only one participant's performance improved during the personal name condition. For the same participant there was a decrease in performance during the subsequent anonymous code condition. For the other 5 participants, neither of the two feedback conditions were successful in improving their performance.
