Digital Transformation: A Systematic Review of Its Relationship with Model-Based Systems Engineering and Andragogy to Support Training

Tincher, Brent Edward 07 1900 (has links)
Adopting model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools signifies a shift in the complex nature of systems related to digital transformation. This study performs a comprehensive review and analysis to investigate organizational thinking toward training adult learners to use MBSE tools. Recognizing the wealth of experience and unique training needs characteristic of professionals, this study identifies and reflects on the prevalence of andragogy-based learning strategies to support future needs. By aligning MBSE tools with andragogy-based principles, this study seeks to contribute to the body of knowledge for both adult education and systems engineering, supporting a pathway for organizations to navigate and excel in a digitally transformed environment. This study found that organizations do not explicitly recommend a structured andragogy-based learning theory as a critical component to developing training for MBSE tools to support digital transformation. However, many of the principles ascribed to andragogy are commonly used by both organizations and researchers to promote MBSE training to adult learners. potential future development to further advance this work.

Computational spectral microscopy and compressive millimeter-wave holography

Fernandez, Christy Ann January 2010 (has links)
<p>This dissertation describes three computational sensors. The first sensor is a scanning multi-spectral aperture-coded microscope containing a coded aperture spectrometer that is vertically scanned through a microscope intermediate image plane. The spectrometer aperture-code spatially encodes the object spectral data and nonnegative</p> <p>least squares inversion combined with a series of reconfigured two-dimensional (2D spatial-spectral) scanned measurements enables three-dimensional (3D) (x, y, &#955) object estimation. The second sensor is a coded aperture snapshot spectral imager that employs a compressive optical architecture to record a spectrally filtered projection</p> <p>of a 3D object data cube onto a 2D detector array. Two nonlinear and adapted TV-minimization schemes are presented for 3D (x,y,&#955) object estimation from a 2D compressed snapshot. Both sensors are interfaced to laboratory-grade microscopes and</p> <p>applied to fluorescence microscopy. The third sensor is a millimeter-wave holographic imaging system that is used to study the impact of 2D compressive measurement on 3D (x,y,z) data estimation. Holography is a natural compressive encoder since a 3D</p> <p>parabolic slice of the object band volume is recorded onto a 2D planar surface. An adapted nonlinear TV-minimization algorithm is used for 3D tomographic estimation from a 2D and a sparse 2D hologram composite. This strategy aims to reduce scan time costs associated with millimeter-wave image acquisition using a single pixel receiver.</p> / Dissertation

Simulink® Based Design and Implementation of Wireless Sensor Networks

Nune, Raju 12 1900 (has links)
A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a spatially distributed network used to monitor the physical and environmental conditions such as temperature, pressure, sound, humidity, heat, etc. WSNs can be modeled using different simulation frameworks like OMNeT++, Prowler, Atarraya, PiccSIM, Network Simulator, etc. In this research, Simulink framework was used to model WSN system. The complete WSN consisting of transmitting nodes, communication channel, and receiver nodes are built in the Simulink framework. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing technique was used to transmit the information. The implemented wireless sensor system behavior is studied using temperature as the measurement parameter at different values of signal to noise ratio. The plots of bit error rate versus signal to noise ratio and frame error rate versus signal to noise ratio are generated in the Simulink framework. It is easy to study the effect of different physical layer parameters on the performance of wireless sensor networks by implementing WSN in the Simulink framework.

L'ingénierie des documents d'affaires dans le cadre du web sémantique

Jridi, Jamel Eddine 11 1900 (has links)
In this thesis, we present the problems of business document exchanges. We propose a methodology to adapt the XML-based business standards for the Semantic Web technologies by mapping documents defined on DTD or XML Schema to an ontological representation in OWL 2. Next, we propose an approach based on formal concept analysis techniques to regroup the ontology classes sharing some semantics to improve the quality, readability and the representation of the ontology. Finally, we propose ontology alignment to determine the semantic links between heterogeneous business ontologies generated by the transformation process to help entreprises to communicate fruitfully.

Applied Real-Time Integrated Distributed Control Systems: An Industrial Overview and an Implemented Laboratory Case Study

Zaitouni, Wael K 08 1900 (has links)
This thesis dissertation mainly compares and investigates laboratory study of different implementation methodologies of applied control systems and how they can be adopted in industrial, as well as commercial, automation applications. Namely the research paper aims to assess or evaluate eventual feedback control loops' performance and robustness over multiple conventional or state-of-the-art technologies in the field of applied industrial automation and instrumentation by implementing a laboratory case study setup: the ball on beam system. Hence, the paper tries to close the gap between industry and academia by: first, conducting a historical study and background information of main evolutional and technological eras in the field of industrial process control automation and instrumentation. Then, some related basic theoretical as well as practical concepts are reviewed in Chapter 2 of the report before displaying the detailed design. After that, the next Chapter, analyses the ball on beam control system problem as the case studied in the context of this research through reviewing previous literature, modeling and simulation. The following Chapter details the proposed design and implementation of the ball on beam case study as if it is under the introduced distributed industrial automation architecture. Finally, Chapter 5 concludes this work by listing several points leaned, remarks, and observations, and stating possible development and the future vision of this research.

Le support de VoIP dans les réseaux maillés sans fil WiMAX en utilisant une approche de contrôle et d'assistance au niveau MAC

Haddouche, Fayçal 04 1900 (has links)
Wireless mesh networks (WMNs), because of their advantageous characteristics, are considered as an effective solution to support voice services, video and data in next generation networks. The IEEE 802.16-d specified for WMNs, through its mesh mode, two mechanisms of scheduling data transmissions; namely centralized scheduling and distributed scheduling. In this work, we evaluated the support of the quality of service (QoS) of the standard by focusing on distributed scheduling. System problems in the support of voice traffic have been identified. To solve these problems, we proposed a protocol for supporting VoIP, called Assisted VoIP Scheduling Protocol (AVSP), as an extension to the original standard to support high QoS to VoIP. Our preliminary simulation results show that AVSP provides a good improvement to support VoIP.
