En retorisk utmaning i läkemedelshyllan : En studie om designbyråers visuella retoriska ramar och vägar vid formgivning av receptfria läkemedelsförpackningar / A rhetorical challenge in the drug shelfMagnusson, Hanna, Mierzejewska, Joanna January 2016 (has links)
The purpose of this thesis was based on visual rhetoric theory to examine how design agencies experience the design of over-the-counter drug packaging, what challenges they face, and with which rhetorical appeals they convince consumers, while they relate to the non-art-related conditions, the Swedish Medical Products Agency’s regulations (SMPA). The objective was based on previous research that has begun a discourse on the phenomenon and that designers previously has expressed a lack of dialogue in the graphic expression of over-the-counter drug packaging with the SMPA. To investigate the phenomenon semi-structured interviews was conducted with six professions of five different design agencies whose area of expertise was health and pharmaceutical communication. The results showed that the designers' biggest challenges was to find the balance between the visually attractive as well as the patient safe and reliable graphic expression. The results also showed a challenge in the absence of direct communication with the SMPA in the design process. Such communications had facilitated the process as a dialogue for the graphic expression and its effect on a patient safe packaging, had been possible. The elements in the design process that the respondents considered most essential to persuade the consumers were colors and illustrations. These elements could be widely applied without violating the rules.

"Medieteknik är mitt viktigaste verktyg"Wahlgren, Sophia January 2019 (has links)
The fact that graphic designers need to use mediatechnology in their everyday work indicates that technostress can affect their professional practice. This study therefore aims how much technostress is experienced by graphic designers in the mediaindustry. The purpose of this thesis is to increase the overall understanding of how the technostress expresses itself through their communication and producing when they use their mediatechnology. To clarify what stresses graphic designers, the study will discuss which different stressfactor that can occur when they use their mediatechnology. The various stressors that can arise through mediatechnology is called techno creators. The study therefore intends to aim which techno creator that can occur or are the most experienced in their workprocess.Through qualitative interviews with five graphic designers in Malmö, the study has been conducted with an inductive approach. The empire and the theory have been analyzed with each other, and the research question has been answered in the result. The study points out that two out of five techno creators are experienced by five designers in Malmö.

Hur grafiska formgivare runt om i världen uppfattar skandinavisk grafisk design / How Scandinavian Graphic Design Is Perceived by Graphic Designers Around the GlobeOlsen, Gisela January 2016 (has links)
The aim of the present study was to determine how graphic designers around the globe perceive Scandinavian graphic design. 53 participants from industrial countries around the world partook in the study, which used a combination method of mail interviews and questionnaires. The results of this study indicated that, regardless of continent, Scandinavian graphic design was perceived as simple and functional. The often grid-based layout favored the use of sans-serifs, white space and few graphic elements according to the participants in this study. Achromatic colors such as black, white, and grey without gradients and shadows were preferred. Followed by earthy and pastel hues. Motifs were used sparingly, but when they were, they depicted elements found in nature or geometric shapes. Photos and illustrations were perceived to be equally in use, with a slight inclination towards illustrations being used more. The perceived impact of Scandinavian graphic design was wide-ranging. The participants who found the impact to be high were due to advocating simplicity and functionality, intertwining design fields, and/or raising awareness of conscious graphic design. The participants, who found the impact to be low, believed that too little exposure was a contributing factor. Most participants in this study considered Scandinavian graphic design simpler in comparison to what they can see in their own countries. Furthermore, African, Asian and South American participants perceived the colors to be lower in chromatic value.

When the walls of the room crumble : Anna Berglund 1857-1946. An artistic practice in the break between tradition and modernity.Olsson, Helena January 2022 (has links)
The overall objective of this thesis is to fill a gap in art historical research as well as in the history of women in a more general sense. The main focus is the life and work of artist Anna Berglund (1857-1946), who’s artistic practice spanned the fields of design, decorative art, calligraphy and watercolour painting. The thesis is the first attempt to conduct research into Berglund’s artistic practices. Primary sources from and about Berglund are scarce, as not much has survived the test of time in terms of personal documents such as letters, notes or diaries. Therefore, the political, social and cultural conditions of Berglund’s time and environment have complemented and contextualised the primary source material. Biographical method, archival research, and the application of sociologist Pierre Bourdieu’s field theory have formed the foundation of the thesis. In addition, the thesis is built around questions into 19th century women’s development of social networks and adaptation of strategies to navigate and establish themselves as professionals. The research show that Anna Berglund’s habitus and economic, cultural and social capital enabled her to enter and navigate the field. Furthermore, Berglund developed and adapted professional strategies to navigate the field and to build a network that enabled her to push her career forward. The nature of pattern drawing as a new and quickly expanding professional field in the late 1800s contributed and enabled Anna Berglund, as well as others, to enter, navigate and establish themselves on the field and as entrepreneurs.
