Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-Gradua??o em Produ??o Vegetal, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2010. / ABSTRACT The purpose of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of polyacrylamide polymer and irrigation frequency in the growth of eucaliptus (Eucalyptus urophylla). The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse, at the Agronomy Department of Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys, Diamantina-MG, in the period from October to May, 2010. It was conducted in a 4 x 4 factorial way, with 16 treatments and 5 repetitions. There was used a randomized block design with four treatments (doses polymers hydroretentors: 0, 2, 4 and 8 grams per plant). Each block had an irrigation frequency, as following: 1, 5, 10, 20 and 40 days between irrigations. Each plot consisted of 4 bags containing one eucalyptus plant each. There were observed no effect of polymer doses on plant growth. Considering the nutrient content in the plant, only potassium (root) and copper (stem) showed statistical differences, with a dose of 8 grams more. The increase in irrigation frequency caused a decrease in all biometric characteristics and in the accumulation of the nutrients content.
