Schleu, Anton January 2020 (has links)
When an aircraft is on the ground, it receives its power by being connected to a GPU (Ground Power Unit), which supplies the aircraft with a voltage of 115 V to a frequency of 400 Hz. Today's modern aircraft consists of more advanced electronics, which can cause interference to the GPU that not previously existed. The purpose of this report is to investigate which load cases can be generated by an aircraft, to be able to reproduce these in the form of a variable last.  Using the load, the GPU's ability to maintain voltage and frequency should be evaluated to check if these are maintained despite interference in the form of alternating loads. The objectives of this report are to determine which load cases can be generated and recreate these through the variable load, to verify and control the developed product together with a GPU. An important delimitation of the report is that the constructed load will not be able to generate harmonics, which is commonly found among today's aircraft. The load will therefore only be able to switch between being inductive or capacitive. The result of this report shows that by constructing a load with the load case cos-φ 0.5 0.6 0.7 0.8 0.9 and -0.5 -0.6 -0.7 -0, 8 -0.9, it is possible to simulate an aircraft in the form of inductive and capacitive alternations. It has also been seen by measurements that the constructed load causes disturbances in voltage and current similar to those seen in measurements on a real aircraft. This report concludes that it is possible to construct a variable load that can generate load cases similar to a modern aircraft, both theoretically and practically. It also possible to mimic real interference measured on a GPU, thereby evaluate its ability to handle complex load cases.

Mobile Heart Rate Variability Biofeedback Improves Autonomic Activation and Subjective Sleep Quality of Healthy Adults - A Pilot Study

Herhaus, Benedict, Kalin, Adrian, Gouveris, Haralampos, Petrowski, Katja 16 May 2024 (has links)
Objective: Restorative sleep is associated with increased autonomous parasympathetic nervous system activity that might be improved by heart rate variability-biofeedback (HRV-BF) training. Hence the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of a four-week mobile HRV-BF intervention on the sleep quality and HRV of healthy adults. - Methods: In a prospective study, 26 healthy participants (11 females; mean age: 26.04 ± 4.52 years; mean body mass index: 23.76 ± 3.91 kg/m²) performed mobile HRV-BF training with 0.1 Hz breathing over four weeks, while sleep quality, actigraphy and HRV were measured before and after the intervention. - Results: Mobile HRV-BF training with 0.1 Hz breathing improved the subjective sleep quality in healthy adults [t(24) = 4.9127, p ≤ 0.001, d = 0.99] as measured by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. In addition, mobile HRV-BF training with 0.1 Hz breathing was associated with an increase in the time and frequency domain parameters SDNN, Total Power and LF after four weeks of intervention. No effect was found on actigraphy metrics. - Conclusions: Mobile HRV-BF intervention with 0.1 Hz breathing increased the reported subjective sleep quality and may enhance the vagal activity in healthy young adults. HRV-BF training emerges as a promising tool for improving sleep quality and sleep-related symptom severity by means of normalizing an impaired autonomic imbalance during sleep.

0-Hz-IF FSK/AM Sub-Carrier Demodulator on a 6U-VME-Card

Weitzman, Jonathan M. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 28-31, 1996 / Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / Aerospace Report No. TOR-0059(6110-01)-3, section 1.3.3 outlines the design and performance requirements of SGLS (Space Ground Link Subsystem) services. GDP Space Systems has developed a single card slot FSK (Frequency Shift Keying)/AM (Amplitude Modulation) demodulator. An application of this service is the US Air Force Satellite Command and Ranging System. The SGLS signal is tri-tone-FSK, amplitude modulated by a modified triangle wave at half the data rate. First generation FSK/AM demodulators had poor noise performance because the signal tones were filtered and processed at IF frequencies (65, 76 and 95 kHz). Second generation demodulators suffer from "threshold" due to non-linear devices in the signal path before the primary noise filtering. The GDP Space Systems demodulator uses a 0-Hz- IF topology and avoids both of these shortcomings. In this approach, the signal is first noncoherently down converted to baseband by linear devices, then it is filtered and processed. This paper will discuss the GDP 0-Hz-IF FSK/AM (SGLS) demodulator.

Bedja, Mfoihaya 10 May 2010 (has links) (PDF)
