Skantz, Kristoffer January 2021 (has links)

An inevitable self-destruction? : A qualitative study on how liberal thinkers explain the crisis of the liberal international order

Shiltagh, Nabil January 2021 (has links)
With the aim of contributing to the recent debate on the fate of the liberal international order, this thesis has examined how prominent advocates of the liberal international order explain its contemporary state of crisis. Taking a point of departure in John Mearsheimer’s critical argument of three essential flaws in the liberal order, I have expanded these flaws into three theoretical areas. These theoretical areas highlight fundamental components in the liberal international order that, according to Mearsheimer, endogenously undermine the liberal international order which will eventually lead to its demise. These theoretical areas are the expansion of the liberal order, resistance in liberal democracies and the threat of China. Analyzing the ideas of liberal advocates within these theoretical areas, I have found that they have offered strong arguments on why the liberal international order will not perish. Although the liberal advocates see a crisis of governance and legitimacy in the liberal order, they believe that the order’s beneficial and robustious architecture constrain states from abandoning the international institutions of the liberal international order. However, drawing on previous research, I have discussed the plausible possibility and consequences of an increasingly powerful China rising within the order. I have concluded that the liberal advocates have not satisfactorily explained this threat of China to the contemporary U.S-led liberal order.

Berenett, Emanuel, Fredriksson, Olle January 2022 (has links)
This thesis’s main purpose is to understand the recent debate in Sweden concerning the vaccine passport that was caused due to the recent spread of the corona virus. The focus is on what a variety of arguments and positions from different public political debaters have taken in a number of issues regarding vaccine passports. If they have been ideologically consistent regarding their previous ideologic positions in other debates in Sweden. First the thesis describes the three main ideologies used (liberalism, socialism and conservatism) and outlines their main positions. By doing so, the thesis can later compare what Swedish opinion leaders have argued in regards to the vaccine passport and therefore find out if they are relatable to their main ideology.  This has been made possible by the implementation of the design of an Ide whose purpose is to investigate and try to understand why different sides of this debate think about how they think about vaccine passports along with if it seems consistent.. The result points to that it can indeed be found ideological inconsistencies in some varieties. For example, if opinion leaders affiliated with the liberal ideology finding the vaccine passports useful might seem to clash with the main positions of the liberal ideology.

Segerström, Arvid January 2021 (has links)
The introduction of welfare markets in publicly financed healthcare system has together with digital innovation of healthcare delivery led to a rapid growth of direct-to-consumer telemedicine services. In Sweden, the rise of such digital doctors has sparked a debate and there are indications that these developments might affect the overreaching goals of Swedish healthcare delivery on equal terms and according to need. This thesis examines the emergence of the new digital healthcare market and the political debate surrounding these developments, in order to answer the overreaching question of what these developments mean for equity in health in the Swedish healthcare system. This is done by describing developments on the digital healthcare market in Sweden and by conducting an idea analysis of the political parties’ views on these developments. Findings indicate that healthcare providers have great influence on the digital healthcare market in Sweden at the expense of public actors. Results from the idea analysis shows that political parties mainly discuss health equity in relation to the digital healthcare market in line with social or liberal egalitarian ideas of health equity.

Úvod do myšlení Vratislava Effenbergera(Dialektika vzniku pojmu ideových modelů) / Introduction to the conceptual basis of Vratislav Effenberger's thought (Dialectics of the genesis of the concept of idea models)

Svěrák, Šimon January 2021 (has links)
Dissertation Abstract Introduction to the conceptual basis of Vratislav Effenberger's thought (Dialectics of the genesis of the concept of idea models) Mgr. Šimon Svěrák The thesis introduces a reader to the basic aspects of the theoretical system of Vratislav Effenberger, the main theoretician of post-war Czech surrealism. It does so through the construction of a developmental dialectic of the main concepts of Effenberger's work of the 1960s, which culminates in the concept of so-called idea models. In this period, Effenberger primarily addresses the question of the nature of the existential forms of the concept of total meaning in the post-war social and psychological situation. He formulates his reflections as a critical reassessment of the theoretical legacy of Karl Teige and a question of the possibility of further continuity of the Surrealist worldview. The thesis demonstrates that Effenberger first rejects the notion of ultimate meaning, through which psychosocial reality can be grasped as a meaningful whole, and replaces it with a notion of conflict. However, the internal logic of his theoretical system gradually leads him to the conclusion that human consciousness cannot exist without the idea of ultimate meaning and that such meaning exists only in the form of the idea model. The idea model is...

Nygård, Moa January 2021 (has links)
This study has been carried out in collaboration with Statens tjänstepensionsverk (The National Government Employee Pensions Board, SPV). The government agency handles occupational pensions for those who is, or has been, a government employee. The purpose of this study was to develop a useful tool for collaborative idea generation and compare an implementation with traditional web programming against developing an extension for a cloud platform. The methods used in the project were interviews with employees at the company, development of a web page with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP and development of an extension for a cloud platform. The idea generation prototype developed was tested in two usability tests. The result shows that the produced prototype reached the goal of being simple to use and easy to get started with seen from a usability perspective. There was also some potential for improvement with even clearer descriptions and less risk for the user to use the tool incorrectly. During the project some difficulties with developing against the cloud platform occurred leading to the database communication not being implemented. The conclusion is that it can be easier to program with more traditional web programming for a developer who is not used to the cloud platform. However, for a company it can be more effective to integrate the application to an already existing platform to be able to save data in one place.

A Study to Determine the Relationship of the Direct Instruction Program <em>Corrective Reading</em> on <em>Terra Nova</em> Tests Scores in One School System in East Tennessee

Werner, Dawn Heterick 16 August 2005 (has links) (PDF)
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the Direct Instruction program Corrective Reading on standardized achievement test scores specifically of reading scaled score gains in grade levels three through six in a selected school system in East Tennessee. The causal-comparative quantitative approach was the foundation for this study. Reading scaled score gains from the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program (TCAP) achievement test Terra Nova given in the years 2001-2002 and 2003-2004 were analyzed by grade level using ANOVA and t tests to determine if the implementation of Corrective Reading had an impact on students' achievement. No statistically significant results (p = .05) were found between the year before implementation and the year after implementation with the exception of one grade level. Furthermore, no significant differences were found at any grade level between students participating in Corrective Reading and students not participating in Corrective Reading on the 2003-2004 TCAP Terra Nova test. In addition, gender, Title I status, Special Education status, and teacher status were analyzed for interaction between groups and Corrective Reading. Only one grade level, by gender, showed a significant difference in scaled score gains. There was a significant difference by Title I status at two grade levels. Special Education students had significant reading scaled score gains at two of the four grade levels with Special Education students who received special accommodations showing significant gains at two grade levels. Students who were taught Corrective Reading by a certified teacher showed significant reading scaled score gains at one grade level, whereas the other grade levels had no significant difference.
