O self dança : uma proposta de individuação hipertextual / The self dances : a proposal for hipertextual indivuation

Marcellino, Vera Cristina 18 August 2006 (has links)
This research proposes itself to the identification of the dynamics and interaction between the creation process in contemporary performance and the individuation process, a Jungian concept of human realization. A priori, considering the interconnection between the creation process and the individuation process, as described by Carl Gustav Jung, as a process which each human being goes through, seeking for its fullfilment as a unique individual. The aim of this interconnection is to get an approximated answer to some intriguing question like, for example: during a time of intense investigation, does the dancer enlarge his or her capacity for reproduction of a gestuality originated from the laboratories? Are there moments during the performance where the perception of the wholeness of the being can be identified? If there is such an identification, which manifested aspects of totality, accessed during the gestual performances allow themselves to be identified as unique (art and Self) ? The methodological basis of this research consists in some sensorial experiences, investigative and reflexive, in a dialogical and discursive environment, in order to the body and psyche differentiations manifest themselves. The evaluation and control of the datas came out from the group assessments during laboratories development, film and photograph process, as well as the plastic register that resulted from these experiences. As a register of the process it was developed a video which is presented in hypertext / Mestrado / Mestre em Artes

A escolha do disco se justifica por encerrar a maturidade musical do saxofonista, por ser Pedrinho o último disco gravado por ele / Abstract: The close relationship of Victor Assis Brazil and the jazz is widespread among musicians, students and music lovers in general, especially for his eloquence as an improviser. However, the specific knowledge about the musical procedures which confirms this intimity ¿ that would clarify such proximity - is rare. This study aimed to analyze the improvised solos of Victor Assis Brazil recorded in the album Pedrinho in order to demonstrate the existence of elements that better explain its relation with the improvisation of jazz imprint. We try to outline the articulations of the main musical elements - described by a range of authors as a constant in the study of improvisation - in order to better understand the phraseological construction, the musical poetry of Victor. The choice of this disk is justified for being the musical maturity of the saxophonist, and also because Pedrinho is the last album recorded by him / Mestrado / Praticas Interpretativas / Mestre em Música

Encruzilhadas do corpo (em) processo : f(r)icção arte-vida na criação de uma dança-teatro brasileira / Crossroads of thebody (in) process : art-life f(r)iction in the creation of a Brazilian dance-theater

Costa, Daniel Santos, 1986- 12 September 2014 (has links)
Orientador: Grácia Maria Navarro / Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Instituto de Artes / Made available in DSpace on 2018-08-26T14:55:44Z (GMT). This master¿s thesis presents the crossroads of a body in a creation process, profaning authorial possibilities for the production of knowledge in the performing arts, from a dialogic perspective, which desires to friction art and life. The body (in) process, seen by the prism of an autobiographical individual that speaks of himself, experiences local epistemologies coming from the universe of Brazilian popular orality as an attempt to escape from centralizing processes. Moreover, he uses autoethnography as a methodological possibility to project his point of view about the world through the performing arts. On this praxis, the sensible body realizes the world and dialogues with it, highlighting a peculiar way of doing - and thinking over - the contemporary scene in this in-between place, the crossroads, a possible space for the hybrid. From such position, it was possible to emerge a privileged point of view in the sense of the multiplicity that the reported space provokes, either when it comes to the possibility of the new, of something that comes to become something else, or even when related to its provocations and references. The experimental process result under discussion is presented in the form of a Brazilian dance-theater, which will be capable of problematizing a theoretical construction through practice. The dialogue revealed a singular subject/character that intersects in their daily life, popular devotions - Umbanda and Folia de Reis, reality and fiction, memory and presentification, constituting a character presenting cultural aspects of a "Brazilian" among the many possibilities "be Brazilian" that the diversity of national culture promotes. Hence, it is elucidated the importance of establishing creation processes for the production of specificities that beget knowledge in the performing arts taking into account the possibilities of discovering personal, singular ways, besides questioning the inversion or the discard of hierarchies, problematizing their essences and producing a scene based on difference, on the destabilization of centers that regulate dominant thinking / Mestrado / Teatro, Dança e Performance / Mestra em Artes da Cena

Expansion of Musical Styles, Function of Texture, and Performing Techniques in Brian Lock's Sonic Archaeologies No. 1: A Performance Guide

Pardo, Daniel (Flutist) 05 1900 (has links)
British composer Brian Lock merges the composition styles of Alexander Goehr, Henryk Górecki and Witold Lutoslawski in his innovative works for instrumental sounds and electronics. His most recent work for flute, Sonic Archaeologies No.1, was premiered at the University of North Texas by Mary Karen Clardy, flute; Brian Lock, piano/electric keyboard; and Daniel Pardo, laptop/live mixing. The purpose of this dissertation is to provide flutists with artistic and technical guidance in preparing this work for flute, prerecorded orchestra, interactive electronics and improvisatory accompaniment. Sonic Archaeologies No. 1, a piece in five movements (Black Rain, Psychomania, Kodo, Susperia, and Deep in the Machine), incorporates contemporary techniques to create sounds other than the Western concert flute, with the use of live reinforcement devices such as microphones and time-based audio effects within a D.A.W. (Digital Audio Workstation.) Reggae, Hip-Hop and cinematic styles are juxtaposed within the work, fusing current genres with traditional rhythmic forms like the ones found in a bourrée. As the solo instrument, flute provides more textural than melodic elements, and the performer is required to interact with an unpredictable sonic soundscape as a result of the improvisatory element of the keyboards and computer. The notation of Sonic Archaeologies No.1 invites interpretation blending and altering traditional sounds through microphones and a processed signal flow. The performance guide will address acoustical considerations when the flute sound is being manipulated by dynamic and time-based processors in live performance; the interaction between the flute, electronics and acoustic spaces; the elements of sound production that provide interpretation of contemporary popular styles; and the opportunities for the performer to find, explore and develop artistry beyond the limitations of music notation.

Madiot, Laura 08 1900 (has links)
This university research comes from the desire of discovering how the various professionals in the event industry, who experience the unexpected daily, manage to cope with the unexpected easily. This curiosity, fueled by my professional interests, made me wondering more precisely on the topic. In order to bring some answers, this research offers a review of the literature developed around two concepts: improvisation and interprofessional collaboration, put into perspective by a theoretical framework on sensemaking. The results of this study are twofold. First of all, they allow us to continue the studies already carried out on concepts used by addressing a new organizational context. In accordance with the existing definitions of improvisation, three resources enabling planners to improvise have been identified: the coordination guide, the conditions of roles' flexibility, and the enactment process. Moreover, by the exploration of these three resources, this research enables, in a second step, to identify new dynamics resulting from the association of the concepts of improvisation, interprofessional collaboration, and sensemaking. Among other things, we have discovered that a boundary object can be used as a resource for improvisation and this is why all the members of the collaboration must be able to understand it; the conditions that are favorable to the conduct of interprofessional collaboration also influence the management of improvisation ; finally, the sensemaking production in unexpected situations varies according to the profession of each member of the collaboration. All these results, as well as the study of an unexplored organizational context, provide various avenues for further studies.

Tardrew, Vincent 11 1900 (has links)
This thesis proposes an analysis of the composition process via melody, polytonality and polyrhythm through piano improvisation, ending with the orchestration of the five musical pieces composed during the two years of the master's in instrumental and vocal composition at the University of Montreal, from September 2017 to April 2019. These pieces are a Sextet, an Octet, a Movement for two pianos and percussions, 5 Miniatures for orchestra and Tristesse de la lune, a melody on a poem by Charles Baudelaire, totaling 33 minutes of music. We try to situate in a general context the place of these processes through the different references of the author to open fields of possibilities they bring to the future.

Tommy Smith's Two Sonatas, "Hall of Mirrors" and "Dreaming with Open Eyes": A Performance Guide and Analysis

Dunbar, Sarah 08 1900 (has links)
Tommy Smith is considered by many to be one of the greatest jazz saxophonists not only in Scotland, but world-wide. Celebrated for his virtuosic performance skills, tremendous compositions, and prized albums in the jazz idiom, Smith has also had great success as a composer and performer of the classical genre. Fusing the styles of jazz and classical, he composed and recorded two sonatas, entitled, Sonata No. 1 - Hall of Mirrors and Sonata No 2. - Dreaming with Open Eyes, on his 1998 album, Gymnopédie: The Classical Side of Tommy Smith. Unique pieces, they are not considered standard repertoire in the classical saxophone world, however, they are welcomed, substantial works for either the soprano or tenor saxophone and piano. Composed in a classical style and performed with jazz inflections and improvisation, these sonatas are challenging pieces to learn and execute at a high level. For many classical saxophonists, improvising a cadenza or utilizing standard jazz performance techniques could dissuade them from performing these terrific, distinctive works. This study is intended to aid in the learning and presentation of these two pieces, and includes transcriptions from Tommy Smith's album, errata, and performance analyses for each sonata.

Stopp! Min kropp!

Lindberg, Ariana January 2021 (has links)
The aim of this study is to contribute to the understanding of intergenerational touch within dance education in upper secondary schools in Sweden, focusing on contact improvisation. In this study, interviews with dance teachers in four upper secondary schools have been used to examine teachers' ideas and choices regarding intergenerational touch in contact improvisation through idea analysis. This study explores how teachers relate to the no-touch discourse and the domain-specific ideology within the contact improvisation movement. It also examines what an ethical approach to intergenerational touch in contact improvisation within upper secondary education could be. The study shows that some strategies teachers use in relation to intergenerational touch could function to downplay or adapt to the no-touch discourse, but no causality can be proven. There is also a proximity between some strategies and the domain-specific ideology within the contact improvisation movement. An ethical approach to intergenerational touch requires teachers to be aware of influences from different idea systems and to be reflexive regarding their own history and basic assumptions. It also requires teachers to get to know their students well and be sensitive to them in every moment.
