Obchodní dům "Centrum" v Brně / "Centrum" Department Store in Brno

Hanychová, Hana January 2014 (has links)
The subject of the diploma thesis is the architectural study of the reconstruction and extension of the department store “Centrum“ by an architect Vladimír Karfík, which is situated between the Jánská and Kobližná streets in Brno. This object should have been the highest building in the whole of Europe at its time, but due to the problems, which occurred during the construction, finally only eight storeys out of the original twenty eight were realized. The new object will be a fifteen storey building. Original eight ground floors, from which the last two were subsided, is aligned to a seven storey whole in a new design, and on this unit there is the extension of eight shorter floors, which are on the south side retreating and which are converging to one point like an unfolding fan in the direction to a new extension block with communication and installation cores in the western part. This creates the southern facade of small terraces, and an architectural expression from the perspective of pedestrians acts dynamically and less mighty. The functional utilization is combined, there is a passage with shops, two cafés, services, administration, and on the last floors there is housing. From an architectural point of view the building fits into the structure of urban conservation and the height does not exceed the spires of the church.

Online visual merchandising på shoppingappar : En studie om miljömässiga elements påverkan på impulsköpsbeteende

Berg, Fanny, Fredriksson, Lina January 2020 (has links)
Impulse purchases on mobile applications are an important source of income for clothing companies in today's society. Thoughtful store communication on shopping apps is therefore necessary in the competitive clothing industry. Environmental elements are various communication tools in online visual merchandising (OVM) which have a great influence on consumers' purchasing behavior but whose impact on impulse purchases separately has not yet been explored. The purpose of the study is therefore to elucidate which environmental elements stimulate impulse buying behavior online on mobile shopping apps in the clothing industry. To investigate this, a qualitative study was conducted in the form of semi-structured interviews. According to the study, all environmental elements besides audio on video stimulate online impulse buying behavior on mobile shopping apps within the clothing industry. However, certain conditions exist for the execution of these environmental elements for this stimulus to occur. The study's results therefore show a problem that exists in securing which environmental elements stimulate impulse buying behavior when there are many embodiments of environmental elements that are experienced in different ways depending on who is exposed to them that causes an element to be able to stimulate but also prevent impulse purchases depending on this.

Sustainable Retailing: German grocery retailers and their challenge of communicating sustainability

Saber, Marcus 02 April 2019 (has links)
Enforcing and communicating sustainability is one of the biggest challenges for retailers in today’s business environment. Retailers are facing pressure from various stakeholders since the topic of sustainability is constantly moving up the agendas of companies, politics, and the media. Additionally, it is intensely discussed by a critical public. This dissertation consists of three related studies – one conceptual study and two research studies – that analyze sustainable behavior, reporting and communication in grocery retailing in Germany. In particular, sustainable behavior is compared across different retail formats. In the first study, the business model of grocery discounters and supermarkets is compared with respect to the impact on sustainability. The cost-leadership strategy applied by discounters is analyzed regarding its influence on strong and weak sustainability. The second article focuses on supermarkets, discounters and organic supermarkets. Based on the sustainability reports it is examined which information is disclosed and which legitimation strategies are applied if negative impacts have to be reported. The analysis revealed that, even within the same industry and country, a wide range with respect to quality levels of sustainability reporting exists. Furthermore, all retailers are reluctant about reporting negative aspects and frequently use similar legitimation strategies. The third article deals with communication of sustainability of both supermarkets and discounters comparing sustainability reporting and communication in the stores. It is shown that no clear difference between sustainability reporting of discounters and supermarkets was observable. However, supermarkets outperformed discounters with respect to in-store communication.:I.
