Research on The Competition Strategies of Taiwan Lubricants Industry ¡VA Case Study of Company A

Lubricants is the most broadly used item in petrochemical products. It is used in all kinds of transportation vehicles like cars, trains, and aircraft, also factory operations like hydraulic system, rotary device and metalworking process. The lubricant consumption is directly related to local industrial status. Furthermore, the growth rate of national lubricants usage amount is directly related to domestic GDP growth rate. Relative to other Asia Pacific countries, the lubricant market has always been very competitive in Taiwan. According to investigation, there are more than 200 lubricant brands in Taiwan market, including the top two local brands, CPC and FPCC; and international brands like Shell, Mobil, BP, Castrol, NOP and Idemitsu. Besides these well-known brands, a great number of domestic small and medium lubricant companies supply the rest of the market by its own branding or OEM. The research collects and analyzes global lubricant market as well as that of China and Taiwan, interviewing Taiwan lubricant experts and people in the business to discuss current local lubricant industry and future outlook for market competition analysis. The study case is based on the leading brand of Taiwan lubricant market; the company already takes more than 30% of Taiwan market share and still hunger for better achievement. According to case study company's SWOT, industrial environment, future develop direction and trend, this research summarizes and indicates strategical guidance of lubricant market for the company.

The Role Of Industry Structure On Customer Value In Robotic Surgery

Spending on robot surgery is expected to increase by $17 billion in the next 6 years. This new surgical treatment has challenged hospitals with higher costs and varying performance. Healthcare executives struggle balancing the adoption of medical innovations with managing healthcare costs. This dilemma can be further complicated by industry structures relative to capital-intensive medical innovations. This research explores the interaction between industry structure and customer value. Specifically, how can hospitals apply an understanding of supplier industry structure and customer value to improve the value of a robotic surgery program (RSP)? This industry study represents an exhaustive longitudinal review of over 15 years of public data relative to robotic surgery, across three distinct time periods. Within the research, industry structure is evaluated using Porter’s 5-forces model. A framework based upon contributions from Grönroos as well as Menon, Homburg, and Beutin is introduced to assess customer value based upon clinical, financial and strategic (CFS) value. The implications of periodic industry structure on customer value were examined to identify opportunities for hospital executives to increase RSP customer value. There were several empirical and theoretical findings from this research. First, in the face of increasing industry structure the identification of favorable forces may create opportunities to increase RSP value. Secondarily, exploring customer value through the lens of core, add-on, relational and transactional benefits in the sub-context of CFS value aids in the identification of market power influences on customer value. The implications of the absence of high levels of relational and transactional benefits without high levels of core and add-on benefits may influence avenues of pursuit in improving RSP value overall. The research also suggests that clinical and strategic value was present despite varying degrees of industry structure. Finally, this study represents an empirical joint analysis of industry structure and customer value in robotic surgery. Some proponents may find the introduction of an integrative model for measuring customer value in robotic surgery, applicable to other capital-intensive medical innovations or disruptive technologies at large.

Due to the transformation of worldwide economy focus to Asia, many multinational corp. put resources to the eastern market, which is blooming very fast especially in Mainland China. By considering the potential hudge market, plenty of labor supply, and the future investments from the strategic point of view, so, a lot of MNCs aggressively invest in Asia & China directly in order to find the better position. But it seems that Taiwan is out of this great mass fervor. This research is based on a case study by a special chemical company. It contains the discussion of current investment projects among Asia and the interviews with many top managers. This analysis is according to Porter¡¦s diamond model, the influence of industry cluster, the organization & control model of MNC between the parent company and the subsidiary and the industry analysis, to see whether there are influences for the future developments of subsidiary in TW. Based on the result of intetrviews and the cross check with the theories, here are some conclusions. 1.There are some influences for the project selection and development strategy for the subsidiary based on the adopted organization especially for the relationship between parent ompany and the subsidiary and the control model. The subsidiary needs to have the visible exposure in the organization. It¡¦s better to have some internal speakers for the subsidiary to do the internal public relationship. 2.The key factors for considering about the investment are depending on industries. In chemical industry, the most important criteria are the cost & the source of raw materials, the market place and the quality of human resource not the cost of human resource. 3.In future, the Taiwaness industries could not compete with the others by mass productions. They need to differentiate themselves or to upgrade the ndustry. The strategy of the subsidiary of MNC in TW is also need to be adopted. 4.The working people in MNC TW need to compete with the others. They need to have the basic capability of communication, profession and the second speciality. Teamwork spirit and the enjoying in the work are welcomed. 5.The government has the responsibility to build up the fair and competitive investment environment to attract the foreign investment to form the industry clustries, in order to keep the growth force of economy.

A Study of Strategy Evaluation of Steel Materials Shot-Blasting and Painting Industry

ABSTRACT ¡§A¡¨ company concentrates on ¡§Water Jet¡¨ business for more than twenty years, it had grown slowly and steadly. For this reason, the founder would like diversify his existing business from coping as the spinouts of Plastic Group and CPC Corporation, Taiwan. ¡§A¡¨ company did some investments, they are shot-blasting and rust remover automatic machine. And because politic, economic and environment evaluation factors, the spinouts couldn¡¦t be build up as they expected. Thus, results of related business were not good. The research analyze the related potential business by interact effects of vertical integration to break through its difficult position and then expend its business to step into the ¡§Blue Ocean Market¡¨. The research way of this case was adopted a two-steps method. The first step was quality inquiry, and than made use of AHP method to do some related pilot survey. Ten companies of three types industry were subjects of this study. They were the manager of piping assembly industry, structural steel industry and steel plates industry. There were ten questionnaires in quality investigation and quantification item of each step. All together, there were forty questionnaires. The key point of this research was to do qualitative statistical analyze and compare and calculate index weight to apply the order of priority for suitable business classification. By the AHP¡¦s research and questionnaires of the vertically integratation of sandblasting factory in the in the field of Taiwan, we have found the medium-term and long-term result is atmospherics and steady on the first phase which we have asked people to choose the appropriate category. What the heaviest weight of the quantifiable computation is the steel sheet industry (47.1%)¡Aplumbing industry is next best(29.2%). Therefore, the second stage of the research is order of steel sheet industry. The result of qualitative statistic in second stage are ¡§high value-added¡¨ and ¡§optimistically long-term¡¨. The order of result of quantifiable questionnaire is ¡§tank manufacture¡¨, 34.6%; ¡§bridge reinforcement¡¨, 31.3% and ¡§sewage pipe¡¨, 27.8%. As to ¡§large case beam¡¨ just accounts for the weight 6.4%, it does not adapt to make the vertical conformity of process products in sandblasting industry. The weight of the first three products is very close, that means three products also to be adaptable to make the vertical conformity. The proposed changes are the transition from a relational database to a non relational one and a new web application for data visualization. The last part of the thesis describes the implementation of these changes and their evaluation.

The research in natural & organic cosmetics field is particularly scant, and especially in Sweden, no research has been done on the industry of natural & organic cosmetics. In consideration of the global eco-trend and also in order to overcome this research gap, this current thesis is focused on studying Swedish natural & organic cosmetics industry, which nowadays appears to be competitive and challenging as never before. Sweden is one of the most environmentally conscious countries where the consumption of cosmetics reached 15 billion SEK in 2011. There are number of companies and brands which categorize them as natural, and continuously look for ways to attract new and keep existing customers. The increased consumer demand for natural & organic products can be observed, consumer awareness coupled with willingness to purchase products that fit their principles and values, as well as consumer price-sensitivity as a result of global recession and their pursuit of making the best value of money. The requirement of natural beauty products are increasing and are available on environmentally-conscious Swedish market. The motivation behind this study is to enhance understanding about the natural & organic cosmetics industry in Sweden, and take a deeper look by over viewing some companies which are presented on this market. Understanding the industry structure is particularly important. Modified Porter’s five forces model has been used in this thesis in order to make the industry analysis.

Industry analysis to guide the asset strategy of the human nutrition and health premix business of Company XYZ

They operate globally through 14 manufacturing sites. HNH premix North America manages a network of three production facilities plus several warehouses on the east and west coasts of the United States. The purpose of this thesis is to provide insights for informing the asset strategy for the human nutrition and health premix business of Company XYZ focusing on the analysis of competitive forces and market drivers for the herbs and botanicals segment. Specifically the thesis aims to achieve the following three objectives: 1) identify potential supply chain bottlenecks and capacity constraints by mapping out the supply chain and examining the production flow, the installed capacity, and current asset strategy; 2) identify key market drivers and related industry trends by assessing the competitive forces and change forces affecting the industry growth rate; 3) present synthesis of strategic issues and strategy recommendation for asset allocation strategy. The analysis involves examination of the supply chain logistical flows for raw materials used in current production of blends and premixes as well as the supply chain for herbs and botanicals. It also includes the assessment of current production capacity by providing a detailed overview of production facilities, blending equipment, production lines and geographical coverage. The aim is to assess the existing procurement capabilities and to identify potential bottlenecks that may constrain the supply chain flow as the demand for HNH premixes grow. The industry analysis was undertaken to better understand the outlook for the premix industry and the factors driving and impeding the growth in the herbs and botanicals sector. The current premix competitive environment was evaluated for the food & beverage as well as dietary supplement sectors. In addition to calculating the industry’s concentration and Herfindahl-Hirschman index (HHI), Porter’s Five Forces framework was used to analyze the intensity of competitive forces in the industry and the attractiveness of the HNH premix industry as the demand for premixes in that segment continues its growth trajectory. The qualitative assessment of the industry structure and competitive forces was conducted using data from interviews with experts designed and conducted in the fall of 2016. The results indicate that the current asset footprint, procurement base, and supply chain capabilities of Company XYZ will allow it to position itself as a leading supplier for the growing HNH nutrition segment. In addition, the results indicate that given the high-value low-volume nature of herbs and botanical blends there are no significant strategic advantages to be gained from changes in geographic asset footprint. However, these results do not account for actual production costs and overheads at each location since the analysis did not include a financial assessment. The results from the analysis of socio-economic trends illustrate that moving forward the companies in the dietary supplement sector focused on applications that support brain and cognitive functioning will account for the largest increase in demand for herbs and botanical blends. It was recognized that Company XYZ currently finds itself in a “red ocean” where it competes over market share in a slow-growth and highly competitive industry. Two potential strategies that will help transition a company into a “blue ocean” – a high growth and low-rivalry environment involve: i) taking over customers’ in-house blending activities by offering a better value proposition through Company XYZ’s economies of scale, superior quality standards, and blending capabilities; and ii) enhancing diversification into the herbs and botanicals segment of the HNH premix industry focusing on brain health applications.

<p>Background: The construction industry is Sweden’s single most important industry branch with a significant influence on Sweden’s wealth. The political restrictions that once controlled the industry are today almost gone. This combined with an unbalanced supply and demand situation on the Swedish constructions market, caused by urbanisation, has led to increased pressure on the Swedish construction companies who now are forced to find new methods in their struggle to contain or increase their competitive advantage. </p><p>Purpose: The purpose of this thesis is to survey: which strategic variables are of great importance in today’s Swedish construction industry with focus on the four main actors, JM, NCC, PEAB and Skanska. Furthermore is the purpose to give these actors advice regarding how to contain or increase their competitive advantage. </p><p>Method: This thesis takes the shape of a case study even if not all the criteria’s embedded in this line of academic study has been reached. The thesis is mainly built upon five interviews conducted with the four companies and with an expert in the construction field. During the creation of this thesis information has also been gathered through publications such as industry literature annual statements and scientific journals. </p><p>Conclutions: We have reached the conclusion that the studied companies, in several aspects, acts as if the industry still where regulated, the main reason for this behaviour is, according to us, the conservative thinking. Therefore we see a great potential for development and use of partnering in the construction process between the involved companies. We also see that cost benefits can be realised trough the development of prefabrication standards in the industry. It is also our opinion that cost benefits can be achieved through a centralised purchasing department.</p>

<p>This paper aims to examine how the driving forces of the Swedish CNG market have impacted OKQ8’s strategies. This has been conducted through the four drivers’ coercive-, market-, resource- and social drivers. The papers conclusion is that all drivers impact on OKQ8’s strategy but that coercive drivers have the most significant impact on the CNG market and OKQ8’s strategy. OKQ8’s decision to establish a cooperation together with E.ON was smart decision since they minimized their own ambiguity in this market that depends on governmental policies and incentives.</p>
