Indoor Positioning Using Angle of Departure Information

Gunhardson, Erica January 2015 (has links)

Manipulating Somatic Cells to Remove Barriers in Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Reprogramming

Chung, Julia 07 June 2014 (has links)
Development leads unidirectionally towards a more restricted cell fate that is usually stable. However, it has been proven that developmental systems are reversible by the success of animal cloning of a differentiated somatic genome through somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Recently, reprogramming of somatic cells to a pluripotent embryonic stem cell (ESC)-like state by introducing defined transcripton factor has been achieved, resulting in the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), which resemble ESCs. iPSC reprogramming is of great medical interest, as it has the potential to generate a source of patient-specific cells. However, the dangerous delivery method, low efficiency, and slow kinetics of the reprogramming process have hampered progress with this technology.

Pine Bark Beetles

DeGomez, Tom, Young, Deborah 04 1900 (has links)
Revised; Originally Published 2002 / 4 pp. / Pine bark beetles in Arizona are generally of the genus Ips or Dendroctonus. Fading foliage in the tree is often the first sign of a beetle attack. Prevention is best practiced since control is not possible once the beetles have successfully colonized the tree. Colonization is dependent upon trees being in a vulnerable condition caused by stress from various agents and site conditions.

A study of power electronic building block (PEBB)-based integrated shipboard power systems during reconfiguration

Adediran, Adeoti Taiwo 30 September 2004 (has links)
The U.S. Navy has developed in their ships, and is continually improving, electric propulsion, ship service power, and electric loads. The latest topology under design is the integrated power system (IPS). The IPS entails the all electric ship concept with electric propulsion, direct current (DC) distribution, and modular technology. In the all electric ship concept, ship propulsion and ship service loads are powered by alternating current (AC) generation. For the IPS, power electronics conversion is to be utilized to convert alternating current (AC) generation to direct current (DC) distribution. As state-of-the-art power electronics, the Navy plans to use power electronic building blocks (PEBB) technology in its IPS. A U.S. naval shipboard power system is required to be a highly reconfigurable system to enhance its survivability and reliability. Reconfiguration is a change in the shipboard power system state for various reasons such as new topology, changing missions and emergencies. It was decided to study the behavior of a PEBB-based integrated shipboard power system during reconfiguration. Since no real time operation data was available, the problem was studied through the simulation of reconfiguration scenarios on a scaled-down computer model of an IPS in MATLAB. Reconfiguration scenarios were determined and staged, and an AC/DC power system stability assessment methodology was applied by decoupling the IPS test system around an intrazonal bus. The coupled system of the test IPS, consisted of two dynamic 4160 VAC generators, two rectifiers, two DC-DC converters between the rectifiers' output looped bus and the downstream intrazonal 775V busses, inverters, buck converters, AC loads and DC loads. There was modeling of excitation perturbations which introduced errors in the assessment of the stability requiring an approximation analysis. The study found that the DC bus of interest was stable for all nine reconfiguration scenarios staged, but it found that other busses were not stable for two of the scenarios. The study further found that lower stability margins occurred at lower frequencies of about 1Hz for stable scenarios. It concluded that there were tangible benefits to advancing the shipboard power system architecture to the IPS topology because of the good stability results.

Srovnání druhového spektra patogenů lýkožrouta smrkového a jeho predátorů pestrokrovečníků rodu Thanasimus chycených do feromonových lapačů / Comparison of the species spectrum of spruce bark beetle pathogens and its predators from genus Thanasimus caught in pheromone traps

Šídová, Michaela January 2016 (has links)
Spruce bark beetle (Ips typographus (Linnaeus, 1758)) is our most serious pests, frequently invading spruce stands. The most important predators of I. typographus are two species from genus Thanasimus - Thanasimus formicarius (Linnaeus, 1758) and Thanasimus femoralis (Zetterstedt, 1828). Monitoring of these three species were carried out from April to August, using pheromone traps type Theyson with pheromone lures designed for their capture. New pheromone lure attracting beetles of genus Thanasimus has been tested. It was used a total of six traps that were placed at three locations. Two traps were always placed at one location, one with pheromone lure Pheroprax attracting spruce bark beetles and the second one with pheromone lure called Thanasiwit attracting beetles of the genus Thanasimus. All traps were checked once a week. A total of 10 291 of spruce bark beetles were captured, 25 specimens of T. formicarius and 7 individuals of T. femoralis. Spruce bark beetle flight activity had two generations and one sister brood. The first catches were recorded on 26 April 2015 and the end of the flight activity was recorded on 26 July 2015. The species T. formicarius flight activity was from 12 April 2015 to 2 August 2015 and during this period two generations were recorded. For T. femoralis flight activity was from 17 April 2015 until 9 August 2015, during this period we also recorded two generations, which took place before and after the flight activity of I. typographus. Laboratory work was conducted after the end of captures. From every of sample twenty individuals were dissected and then inspected using a light microscope to presence of pathogens. The most frequently identified pathogen of spruce bark beetles were nematodes, but only in one case nematods were identified in T. formicarius. Other pathogens were found only in the spruce bark beetles and they included microsporidia Chytridiopsis typographi, neogregarine Mattesia schwenkei and nematodes of the genus Contortylechus sp.

Analysis of heat shock protein genes expression in spruce bark beetle \kur{Ips typographus} and their importance for survival upon exposure to heat

ŠVEHLOVÁ, Kateřina January 2011 (has links)
The aim of this work was to examine the expression of certain Hsp genes upon heat exposure in spruce bark beetle Ips typographus. We determined the level in unstressed and heat-exposed animals, and attempted to assess the importance of Hsp proteins for animals' survival upon heat treatment. We used RNA interference to knock down the expression of these genes, and analyzed the influence on animals exposed to elevated temperatures.

Systém prevence průniků využívající Raspberry Pi / Intrusion prevention system based on Raspberry Pi

Hirš, David January 2021 (has links)
The number of discovered vulnerabilities rapidly increases. For example in 2019 there were discovered 20 362 vulnerabilities. The probability of cyber-attacks realization is high. Therefore it is necessary to propose and implement automated and low-cost Intrusion Prevention or Intrusion Detection Systems (IPS/IDS). This implemetation can focus on home use or small corporate networks. The main goal of the system is to detect or mitigate cyber-attack impact as fast as possible. The master's thesis proposes IPS/IDS based on Raspberry Pi that can detect and prevent various cyber-attacks. Contents of this thesis are focus on description of cyber-attacks based on ISO/OSI model's Link and Network layers. Then there is description of IPS/IDS systems and theirs open source representatives. The practical part is focus on experimental workspace, hardware consumption of choosen detection systems, cyber-attacks scenarios and own implementation of detection program. Detection program is based on these chosen systems and puts them together to be easily manageable.
