The thesis is entitled "The Image of the Burgher from Prague Johanna Barbora Englová, Born Zimmerová through the Family correspondence in the 19 th century" and it presents J. B. Englova´s destiny (18101874) on the basis of both correspondence and some ego-documents analysis. She was Emanuel Engl´s mother (18441907) who was an early Czech politician. Thanks to her, even the Prague civic society can be observed. The thesis is divided into five main chapters. At first, the life within the House of Habsburg monarchy in the 19 th century is described. Afterwards, the thesis is being focused on the situation in Prague, the civic society and its possibilities as for the social life. The second chapter pursues Johanna Englova´s family life. The third chapter is the crucial one it presents social connections which Johanna Barbora Englová made throughout her life and which can be observed within the well-preserved correspondence. The last chapter presents the salon, balls and the society as a part of Johanna Englova´s life. The thesis is trying to present contacts, relationships and social situation on the given example of both former and new family of Johanna Barbora Englová. The part of the thesis consists of an all round analysis of chosen sources. Moreover, the thesis reflects a social upswing of Johanna Barbora Englová and the process of becoming a part of the civic smart set in Prague. The thesis is followed by the list of sources, bibliography and online sources. The diagram, table, genealogy and the part with visual materials are listed in the annexe.

Previous issue date: 2015 / This research asks how Josef Umann contributed to the economic, social and educational development of Cecilia line community, in the city of Venancio Aires, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The objective was biografar Josef Umann, German migrant who immigrated to Brazil in the second half of the nineteenth century, due to the European crisis triggered from the industrialization process, highlighting the economic, social and educational context of Cecilia line community. This scope was awarded through the oral narratives of Hugo Umann, Jaeger Standard, Nilda Umann, respectively, grandson, granddaughter and daughter of Josef Umann, Hilda Agnes Hübner Flowers, historian of the German immigration theme in Rio Grande do Sul, acquired with the methodology of oral history complemented by other documentary and image sources as: minutes, photographs, gravestones, museum pieces, poems, books and other media accessed during the research. The primary argument was to consider that Josef Umann was an immigrant and settler Cecilia line that greatly contributed to its development, precursor in promoting reading and education. Data analysis was performed by: a transcription of the interviews recorded in digital equipment, transcription and validation; document analysis; and the comparison of survey results with the official story. The findings of this demonstrate the importance of Josef Umann Cecilia in line community in the educational , economic and social nature . The immigration issue in Brazil has been much discussed , however, permeate the process of integration into the culture, education and identity of the people " Brazilian" still deserves to be a natural source of studies and research. / Esta pesquisa questiona como Josef Umann contribuiu para o desenvolvimento econômico, social e educacional da comunidade de Linha Cecília, situada na cidade de Venâncio Aires, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul. O objetivo foi biografar Josef Umann, retirante alemão que imigrou para o Brasil, na segunda metade do século XIX, em decorrência da crise europeia desencadeada a partir do processo de industrialização, ressaltando o contexto econômico, social e educacional da comunidade de Linha Cecília. Esse escopo foi contemplado por intermédio das narrativas orais de Hugo Umann, Norma Jaeger, Nilda Umann, respectivamente, neto, bisneta e nora de Josef Umann, Hilda Agnes Hübner Flores, historiadora sobre o tema imigração Alemã no Rio Grande do Sul, adquiridas com a metodologia da história oral temática complementada com outras fontes documentais e imagéticas como: atas, fotografias, lápides de túmulos, peças de museus, poesias, livros e demais suportes acessados ao longo da pesquisa. O argumento preliminar consistiu em considerar que Josef Umann foi um imigrante e colonizador de Linha Cecília que muito contribuiu para seu desenvolvimento, percursor no fomento a leitura e educação. A análise dos dados foi realizada mediante: a transcrição das entrevistas gravadas em equipamento digital, transcrição e validação; a análise documental; e a confrontação dos resultados da pesquisa com a história oficial. Os achados deste demonstram a importância de Josef Umann na comunidade de Linha Cecília no cunho educacional, econômico e social. O tema da imigração no Brasil já foi muito discutido, entretanto, permear o processo de integração na cultura, educação e identidade do povo “brasileiro” ainda merece ser uma singular fonte de estudos e pesquisa.

Submitted diploma thesis shows the portrait of Josef Fišer (1878 {--} 1944), the headmaster of a grammar school, regional historian, chronicler, cultural worker and a member of a range of societies. Josef Fišer was born in Klenčí pod Čerchovem, but he spent the majority of his life in Moravské Budějovice, where he stood in the head of a newly established Czech high school. The aim of this work is the interpception of Josef Fišer{\crq}s life, historical work and the picture of his personality in the eyes of his contemporaries. This diploma thesis also describes Josef Fišer as a high school pedagogue. Josef Fišer is undisputedly important person for the region of Moravské Budějovice. Up to present days there hasn{\crq}nt been published any monograph about him. Therefore Josef Fišer{\crq}s personal works saved in the branch of the State district archive in Třebíč {--} in Moravské Budějovice {--} played the crucial role in the creation of this work. In the first line there were newspaper{\crq}s and periodical{\crq}s articles or studies published in the occasion of the Fišer{\crq}s death or birth jubilee. The whole text is divided into six chapters, which are subdivided into subchapters. Textual or picture enclosures are joined to the diploma thesis to enrich the whole text.

The thesis deals with interpretation Josef Hora´s (1891-1945) collection of works in context of literature of 1st half of 20th century. It is primarily focused on changes of Hora´s poetics in his poetical production. In addition the subject of interest is also author´s artistic and publicistic production. All these parts are related with his life and another literary production at that time. In the first chapter is Josef Hora´s biography devoted to influences on his works. The second chapter interprets author´s poetical production. His books of poetry are sorted in a chronological sequence for better understanding their mutual influences and the influences of period, when they were written. The third chapter refers to a trend of Hora´s proses in a chronological sequence as well and their interpetations. The fourth chapter specifies Hora´s Russian, South Slavic and German translations. The fifth chapter touches his publicistic production, particularly favourite themes and genres In the sixth chapter there is enumerated bibliography of Josef Hora and finally, all discovered facts are recapitulated and generalized in the summary.

The event known as the miracle of Cihost happened in a small village Číhošť in the region of Havlickuv Brod at the end of 1949, beginning of 1950. A crucifix moved on the altar during a sermon. The event led to an investigation and the detention of local priest, Josef Toufar, by the State Secret Police. Father Toufar became one of the first victims of the newly established totalitarian regime. This work called "The Media Portrayal of the Miracle of Cihost Over the Change of Time" presents the case known as the miracle of Cihost over three historical periods. The first period is connected with the origin of the case, therefore the end of 1949, beginning of 1950, the second period, which deals with events in Cihost to a certain extent, is the reform year 1968 and the last period is represented by the velvet revolution in 1989 which changed the established manner of functioning of state apparatus in our country and during which time the existing media system also transformed. The aim of this work is to point out the differences in the interpretations of this case in separate historical periods as each period deals with the case in question very differently. The relationship between Czech and Russian avantgarde has not been properly examined, therefore the aim of this research was to understand the real facts and uncover “ the blind spots“ connected with the specific development of avantgarde architecture in Czechoslovakia and Soviet Union. A comprehensive and moreless thorough detailed reconstruction of the interwar period has been created with the help of comparative and historiographic analysis. This period used to be interpreted quite contrarily under the political pressure of the Soviet regime. The thesis analyses the influence of the political regime on architecture, determines the reflection of the events in the Soviet Union on the opinions of Czechoslovak architects by means of testimonies about mutual contacts, mutual criticism and cooperation in the sphere of architecture. The thesis brings and concludes new information regarding Czech architects who were designing and working in the Soviet Union. The research is based on archive documents, articles from specialized contemporary magazines and debates between Czech and Russian architects.

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze ideas how to deal with the german question after the Second World War which were brought up by one of the largest postwar ecumenical organizations - Christian Peace Conference. Using this example, the author of this thesis wants to describe nature of the organization whose establishment was initiated by the cooperation between theologians and active Christians from the Eastern bloc and their Western counterparts, particularly the ones from the Federal Republic of Germany. Therefore, the thesis presents ideas of Christian Peace Conference and then compares them with the development of international relations during the Cold War and shows potential political implications of these ideas. This issue also illustrates the evolution of negotiations among European actors in the international arena after 1968. Lastly, the thesis addresses the question how could an organization like Christian Peace Conference work in the socialist state the German Democratic Republic was.

The diploma thesis deals with the journalistic work of the theatre critic Josef Träger in the period of the so-called Third Republic (1945-1948). It describes the process of forming attitudes of the journalist towards post-war theatre, presents a representation of the dominant discourse and its transformation during the given period. This thesis focuses on the content analysis of theatre papers, conceived as a kind of "case study", it relates to the basic themes and problems of Czech post-war theatre. It is argued that this approach enables the analyst to pose questions concerning the ideological character of theatre criticism. This thesis discusses ideas of avant-garde creators and theorists, in whose public work it identifies the main source of inspiration for the revolutionary transformation of Czech theatre in 1945. It explores the influence of the Communist Party in the given period, targeted interventions in the Czech media and theatre system and manipulative practices leading to the strengthening of its power in the post-war state. Master thesis focuses on the life story of Josef Rabas, the multiple world champion of the International six days enduro competition. Thesis uses biographical research together with oral history method to capture the storytelling of his life journey. The emphasis is placed not only on the chronological description of the person's life but also on the explanation and understanding of contextual impacts of the period in which he lived. Another followed line is the explanation of the chosen career path where we search for possible contradiction to family's tradition. Besides being the motorcycle racer, Josef is a grandson of the academic painter and renowned artist Václav Rabas and a son of Jan Rabas, a lawyer and one of the signatories of the "Dva tisíce slov" document. Therefore, we also emphasized the family's socio-political context.

Josef Fanta is mainly known only as an architect, author of the Prague Central Station building and has never been studied in more details. The main aim of this diploma paper is trying to evaluate the almost 100 years lasting life and work.
