The diets were evaluated: microalgae Isochrisys galbana (Ig), Phaeodactylum tricornutum (Phaeo), Chaetoceros calcitrans (Cca), Pavlova lutheri (Pl) and combinations (Ig + Cca), (Ig + Phaeo) (Cca + Phaeo) and (Cca + Pl), totaling eight diets provided for a period of 15 days of cultivation. The microalgae I. galbana provided alone had lower survival and growth compared with other diets tested. The use of C. calcitrans and P. tricornutum alone or combined other microalgae showed highest values for survival and growth. The combined diet Cca + Pl, demonstrated the better growth and survival of larval A. brasiliana (261.67 ± 9.64 μm and 31.50 ± 0.87%). All diets evaluated with satisfactory results regarding the growth and survival of larvae of A. brasilaina except I. galbana diet when given alone. The stocking densities evaluated in post-larvae Anomalocardia brasiliana was 40, 80 and 160 ind.cm-2 in a trial period of 28 days. The density of 40 ind.cm-2 had the highest rate of daily specific growth. The highest survival of post-larvae were observed at lower densities 53.24 ± 4.60% (40 ind.cm-2) and 52.95 ± 3.32% (80 ind.cm-2), differing from greater stocking density with 31.54 ± 0.70%. So we concluded that we can produce larvae of A. brasiliana evaluated using any of the diets, except I. galbana was provided separately. In cultivation post-larvae of the same species must perform storage management in density during growth, density 160 ind.cm-2 can be used to achieve the larvae 600 μm in length, greater than 600 μm larvae must be grown at a density of 40 ind.cm-2 to keep the rate of maximum growth rate. A microalga I. galbana fornecida isoladamente, apresentou menor sobrevivência e crescimento em relação as demais dietas testadas.

The experiment was conducted at the UFVJM?s Laboratory of Aquaculture, between July 21 and August 3, 2011. Post-larvae of Nile tilapia in the density of 13.3 post larvae/L were grown in aquariums containing biofilters with 100% calcareous shell, 70% calcareous shell/30% gravel, 50% calcareous shell/50% gravel, 30% calcareous shell/70% gravel, 10% calcareous shell/90% gravel and 100% gravel; and as control sample, a aquarium without biofilter in DIC, summing seven treatments with three replications. Limnological and biometric data were submitted to ANOVA and measurements were compared by Duncan test at p?0.05. To compare the treatments that have evolved a proportion of calcareous shell/gravel, there has been carried out a regression analysis considering a significance level of 5%. All concentrations of calcareous shell/gravel did not influence negatively on morphological parameters and kept water conditions suitable for the cultivation of Nile tilapia, except for the observed levels of ammonia, which were mostly above the recommended for tilapia. However, the apparent non-toxicity of ammonia in the present study may be related to pH values, which remained close to neutral allowing a lower toxicity of the ammonium ion. The proportion of 30% calcareous shell and 70% gravel substrate is recommended as biofilter for presenting the best rate of nitrification during the experiment.

We evaluated the effect of stocking density on larval rearing of Macrobrachium rosenbergii in stocking densities of 50, 70, 80, 90, 100, 120 and 140 larvae/L. The costs of planting, production and economic indicators using three hypothetical hatcheries stocking densities of 50, 100 and 140 larvae/L were evaluated. The results obtained show that the intensification of the system influences the survival and productivity variables. At higher densities, the productivity values were greater, however, from 90 larvae/L the space proved to be a limiting factor, affecting the amount of individuals in the population without compromising the development of larvae. In economic analysis, the rearing in density of 140 larvae/L showed the best economic indicators and endured the best possible market variations. However, the density of 100 larvae/L showed indicators close to those obtained for 140 larvae/L, more efficient rate of metamorphosis and can lead to lower stress levels in the larvae. We conclude that the range of 90 to 100 larvae/L is more appropriate, biological and economically, to produce post-larvae of M. rosenbergii, in a closed system dynamic

Zanardi, Munir Francisco. January 2011 (has links)
The quality of the ingredients that make up a diet is essential in the reproductive physiology of fish. The lipids have a sparing effect of cost for a diet as a source of energy. Based on these studies, the objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation with different lipid sources on reproductive parameters, arrays of Nile tilapia GIFT strain. To do this diets containing 42% crude protein and 4356kcal/kg EB, containing different lipid sources (linseed oil - TOL, soybean oil - TOS, palm oil - TOP, fish oil - TOPX or cod liver oil - TOFB, with inclusion of 4%) were provided to female tilapia (average weight 150g ±12,6) for 90 days. For the challenge of fasting, three lots of eggs from females of each treatment were collected, mixed and incubated. After the eggs hatch and absorption of the vitelline sac, 300 larvae were distributed in 15 experimental aquaria, and kept fasting until the total mortality. The supplementation of 4% of palm oil in fish diet had a positive effect on somatic rates (hepatic-somatic and visceral fat) in reproductive parameters (total number, fertility and fecundity of eggs, fertility, and total number of larval challenge of fasting); cholesterol and triglycerides and condition factor. The addition of palm oil did not show hepatic alterations due to supplementation. No significant differences were observed in relation to the differential leukocyte counts, and plasma proteins erythrogram total of matrices of tilapia. Histological analysis of liver arrays showed that fish fed with linseed oil showed indicators of a possible liver steatosis. The arrays fed diets containing fish oil and cod liver oil, also presented positive results, however, the... Growth, survival and larval development of sea cucumber Holothuria grisea: feed with different microalgae / Crescimento, sobrevivÃncia e desenvolvimento larval do Pepino do mar Holothuria grisea: alimentaÃÃo com diferentes microalgas

Daniele Ferreira Marques 19 February 2016 (has links)
CoordenaÃÃo de AperfeÃoamento de Pessoal de NÃvel Superior / This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the supply of microalgae Chaetoceros muelleri and Thalassiosira fluviatilis on growth, survival and larval development time of the sea cucumber Holothuria grisea. Holothuria grisea larvae were obtained from a spawning induced by heat shock and were cultured in incubators conical cylinder with volume of 15 L, kept in a density of 0,5 larvae/ml and constant aeration. The temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and water salinity were measured daily and total ammonia analysis (NH3 / NH4+) and nitrite (NO2-) were done on days 05, 09 and 14 after fertilization. Four treatments were tested with five replicates each: a diet with 100% Chaetoceros muelleri; a diet with 100% Thalassiosira fluviatilis; a combined diet containing 50% Chaetoceros muelleri and 50% Thalassiosira fluviatilis (mixed diet); and control (unfed). The feed rate ranged from 20.000 the 40.000 cells/ml for different stages of development. The length of the larvae (μm) was observed on days 2, 8 and 14 after fertilization and survival (%) on days 4, 10 and 14 after fertilization. The larval development time was followed for all treatments. There was no significant difference in temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and salinity, to the different treatments tested. The best treatments in terms of water quality were Chaetoceros muelleri and Control, with the lowest concentrations of total ammonia and nitrite. The highest concentrations of ammonia and nitrite were found in treatments where the microalgae Thalassiosira fluviatilis was present. The survival rate for all treatments decreased over larval development being quite sharp. The best treatment, when considering the larval development time and total length (μm), was Chaetoceros muelleri. Holothuria grisea completed it larval development time in 17 days after fertilization when fed Chaetoceros muelleri, having indirect development with larval stages of auricularia, doliolaria and pentacula until the arrival of the juvenile stage.

Investigações morfológicas e metabólicas ao longo da ontogenia das larvas da garoupa verdadeira Epinephelus marginatus (Teleostei: Serranidae) / Morphological and metabolic investigations during the ontogeny of dusky grouper Epinephelus marginatus (Teleostei: Serranidae) larvae

Mello, Paulo Henrique de 26 October 2015 (has links)
This project analyzed the fatty acids profile, embryogenesis and ontogeny of the digestive system of dusky grouper Epinephelus marginatus larvae during the first days of development. Furthermore, we described how the embryos are divided, hatch and develop its main features, and how develops its digestive system during the first days of development, and how they use the FA during the first 8 days of development. We observed that the grouper larvae present relative slow development of their digestive structures, however, the larvae are able to capture, ingest and digest preys already from 4º DAE. The dusky grouper eggs are composed by high percentages of PUFA in phospholipids and for the hatching process it uses preferably the SFA of phospholipids. Additionally, the n3 series PUFAs overlaps the n6 series, especially DHA, which exhibited high values compared to other marine species both on phospholipids as in the triglycerides during the first three days of development. The larvae exhibit a high requirement of HUFAs DHA/EPA, and during this phase is important to use live food of small size (copepods or “SS strain” Brachionus rotundiformes) enriched with the ratio of DHA/EPA levels above 2.0. Thus, all the knowledge generated during these days of development allow us the application of this knowledge in the embryogenesis and hatchery process of the dusky grouper contributing to leverage its domestication and production in captivity and eventually draw up a restocking program of this species contributing to their conservation.

In northeast, the prawn fishery has a great importance in Low São Francisco Basin. The large scale postlarvae production continues being the main problem for commercial culture and natural stocks maintenance. This work aimed to test different diets in Macrobrachium carcinus larval culture in order to improve the performance of prawn post-larvae production, with the utilization of fish flesh (Ff) and a formulated diet (Fd), or in association with adult artemia biomass (FfB and FdB, respectively), resulting in four treatments and six replicates. Were used twenty-four 20 L circular recipients provided of water recirculating and aeration systems, where were stocked 25 larvae (zoea V-VI) per liter. The diets were offered four times a day (07:00, 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00 hrs) during 49 days. Water temperature was 27.5±1.2ºC in the morning and 28.4±1.3ºC in the afternoon; the total ammonia nitrogen and nitrite were 0.2±0.2 and 0.5±0.8 mg/L, respectively, while pH and salinity maintained around 8.2 and 24, respectively. The average larval survival was 3.47±1.56, 7.40±2.99, 14.83±2.64 and 7.57±2.31, respectively for Ff, FfB, Fd and FdB treatments. Ff treatment obtained the lowest survival due to larvae reject by the fish flesh. Fdand FdB treatments showed significant difference (P≤0.05), with better survival obtained by FdB diet. The highest survival was obtained by the Fd diet (14.83%), that showed itself as the more appropriated alternative to use in M. carcinus hatchery, but the adult artemia biomass showed that could provide better survival rates when associated with other feeds.

Two salinities (25 and 35) and three densities (3, 6 and 12 larvae.mL-1 - experiment 1) and (2, 4 and 8 larvae.mL-1 - experiment 2) were tested under three water exchange times (24, 48 and 72h). Response surface diagrams were generated for survival and larval growth data for estimation of optimal conditions. The salinity above 32.5 provided the highest larval survival in the first week (≥ 50%), but this was not different from the saline range between 25 and 31 with water changes above 70h. Between the 7th and 14th day of larvae survival was higher at salinities below 26 (≥ 14%). Growth was higher in the two experiments at salinities below 27. Water changes greater than 36 h increased growth and larval survival in the two experiments. All densities used in both experiments were not statistically different for growth (P> 0.05). However, survival was highest in experiment 1 at densities of 6 (32.56%) and 12 larvae.mL-1 (37.1%) and in the second all densities were statistically the same. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended that larvae of C. rhizophorae be cultivated at salinities of less than 27 and water changes above 36 h with densities of 12 mL-1 larvae and 8 mL-1 larvae, first and second week, respectively.

No. of bitstreams: 1 Sergio Antonio Medeiros Marinho.pdf: 1525129 bytes, checksum: e9715c6a0e0a7fd913de2b446f42c1ed (MD5) Previous issue date: 2007-06-25 / The commercial production of the surubim Pseudoplatystoma corruscans is growing more and more at the country, where several they are mainly the aspects related to the creation of that species, that it requests cares ends, in the initial phases, of the which, although it is big the number of individuals produced in an only spawning, the organisms are extremely fragile. The substitution of several plânctons species in the diets of the larvas, for other less costly, in other words, artificial diets are being white of several researches .O success in the cultivation, is directly related the a quality feeding, and in enough amounts to the specific needs of each species. The experiment was accomplished, during the period 08 to 19 February of, 2007, in the Station of Fish farming of Itiúba, belonging to the Company for Development of the San Francisco and of Parnaíba - CODEVASF, in the Municipal district of Porto Real do Colégio, Alagoas-Al. The used larvas were obtained, to leave, induced reproductions of P. corruscans. The objective was of verifying, the effect of different diets, in the survival, growth and earnings of weight of the Pseudoplatystoma corruscans in the first days of life. After the appearance, the larvas were estimated (10.000 in each unit), conditioned in incubators type funnel with capacity of 200 liters, covered with screens type " sombrite ", and flow of water maintained to 8 L/min. After the opening of the mouth, in the first feeding until the end of the experiment, four different diets were offered, with four repetitions, in a frequency of 12 times a day (of two in two hours), in an experiment entirely casual. The diets consisted of different alimentary items: (Diet 1) – 8g of raw egg yolk, of chicken (O); (Diet 2) - 4g of brachoneta, Dendrocephalus brasilliensis, in powdered (B);(Diet 3) -8g of raw egg yolk and 4g of Artemia sp. náuplios (OA); (Diet 4) - 4g of náuplios of Artemia sp (A). models of multiple lineal regression were elaborated, using analysis of united variance (ANOVA) based on the test F of Snedecor and made the tests of comparison of averages, variance analysis (based on the test F), to verify the similarity in the first three days of the larvas, with different diets. In the first day of the experiment the larvas presented medium weight and medium length of 0,34 ± 0,01 mg and 4,1 ± 0,06 mm, respectively. The best result, it was obtained with the treatment raw egg yolk +Artemia nauplios, reaching 4,9 ± 0,31 mg, 15,4 ± 0,52 mm and 81,23 ± 0,52% of survival measured, being 6% superior in relation to diet with Artemia nauplios in the requirement survival not having differentiates signification (p <0,01), and 40% superior in relation to the treatment with the diet powdered branchoneta, having significant difference (p <0,01). The obtained results make possible to end, that in these cultivation conditions, a diet to the base of raw egg yolk, it can be used as food, during the first three days of feeding of larvas of surubim Pseudoplatystoma corruscans, being able to, to be substituted without damages, when related to the growth and survival of the larvas, minimizing like this, the production costs in this phase.

The pesticides are agents of greatest potential in degradation of aquatic environments, since, through the flood of agricultural areas, flowing organic or inorganic substances, natural or synthetic. Among the pesticides most used currently, include the non-selective herbicide glyphosate and organophosphorus compounds. To understand and prevent the damage caused to the environment, researchers have used multiple biomarkers as an effective tool for evaluation of environmental contamination. This study was divided into two studies: a manipulative experiment and other natural. The first study aimed to investigate the neurotoxic effects and about the system in larvae of Rhamdia quelen exposed to sublethal concentration of glyphosate. In this study it was possible to conclude that, in spite of the animals exposed to glyphosate having highest percentage of survival, there was an early induction of cholinesterase activity and antioxidant system, followed by the difficulty of maintaining the activities of antioxidant system in later times, resulting in a greater injury at the cellular level. The stress that animals suffer when they are exposed to the herbicide glyphosate causes a change in your metabolism being characteristic of elastic resistance. In the second study, the objective was to evaluate changes in antioxidant system and neurotoxic R. branneri present in streams with different levels of environmental contamination during autumn and winter. In this analysis, the response of biomarkers is related to the temporal variation, and possibly the exposure of these animals to pesticides. With the results obtained showed that the local biota responded differently in each season, signaling that the fauna is in contact with oxidizing agents and cholinesterasic in the period of autumn, when there is increased frequency of planting and use of pesticides / O avanço das técnicas agrícolas possibilitou melhoria e maior produtividade de alimentos, mas também fez com que o uso exacerbado e inadequado de agroquímicos promovesse efeitos agudos a espécies não-alvo.
