A escrita feminina na Itália renascentista do século XVI : poemas e cartas de Veronica Franco e Veronica Gambara /

Beraldo, João Paulo Ribeiro January 2019 (has links)
Abstract: The present Dissertation has at its heart the results of the research in which the theme developed was the Italian female Renaissance writing in the 16th century, which is based on the poetic-epistolary works of two homonymous women, Veronica Gambara (1485 - 1550) and Veronica Franco (1546 - 1591). Our sources were Terze Rime (1575), Veronica Franco's Lettere Familiari a Diversi (1580), Veronica Gambara's Rime and her Lettere. The basic point that is present in the investigation is how the linguistic constructions, the courtesy wordplay (characteristic of courtly art) occurred, that is, how the compositions of the works were constructed. Both poetry and letters were intended by their authors with intent. The poets were inserted in a courtier game. Therefore, we investigate the existing nuances found in the works and the social contours pertinent to the time that guided the writing of the two women surveyed. / Mestre

The Correspondence between Charles Dickens and Bernhard Tauchnitz: General Observations and Newly Discovered Letters

Böhnke, Dietmar 01 June 2018 (has links)
The correspondence between Charles Dickens and Bernhard Tauchnitz (1816–1895), founder of the Tauchnitz Verlag in Leipzig, spans almost thirty years, between 1843 and 1870 – Dickens was one of the key authors in the Tauchnitz Edition, a series of books in English for Continental sale initiated in 1841. So far, only 29 of Dickens’s letters to Tauchnitz were known (and printed in the authoritative Pilgrim Edition), and none of the manuscripts could be consulted. In 1991, Gunter Böhnke discovered 34 of the original letters in Leipzig, of which 14 are unknown and seven others only in short extracts. This article briefly sketches the background of the relationship between Dickens and Tauchnitz, and reprints for the first time these 21 letters as transcribed from photocopies of the originals. In the footnotes, the other 22 known letters to Tauchnitz are also listed. As a whole, they illustrate Dickens’s interest in the publication of his works abroad (including payment for this, obviously), as well as his high regard for Tauchnitz. Among the personal information that can be glimpsed from the letters, the most interesting is probably Dickens’s son Charley’s two-year stay in Leipzig in 1853–4.

"Jag fäller då mången saknadens tår öfver flydda sällare år" : En känslohistorisk studie av amerikabrev från 1886-1925 / "I shed many tears for the loss of better years" : A history of emotions of American letters from 1886-1925

Johansson, Amanda January 2022 (has links)
This study aims to explore the emotional dimension through letters from three immigrants that left Sweden 1887, 1892 and 1901. The questions asked were the following: 1) which emotions are expressed in relation to the Swedish society, 2) which emotions are expressed to the American society and 3) what are the main differences between the emotions of Swedish and American society? With the use of Martha Nussbaum’s theory of emotion, Hugo Nordlands discontinuity perspective and Barbara Rosenwein’s emotional communities as theoretical framework, the results show that homesickness, nostalgia and concern are the prominent emotions in relation to Swedish society. They are related to the emotional objects of family, friends and the letter-writer’s place of origin. Hope and affinity are the prominent emotions in relation to American society, related to the emotional objects of friends, holiday seasons and language. The emotional differences between the Swedish society and the American society are individual, and constitutes from the letter-writers identification with, and adaption to, the American society in addition to their actions, future hopes and dreams.

João Guimarães Rosa, Burití: komentovaný překlad / João Guimarães Rosa, Buriti: commented translation

Dufková, Vlasta January 2012 (has links)
Keywords: João Guimarães Rosa, Brazilian letters, translation poetics The aim was to translate the Brazilian language innovator's novel, add an interpretative commentary and draw conclusions pertinent to Rosaean studies and translation poetics. An introductory first chapter proposes an interpretation of the work in the literary history context. The translation itself attempts to reflect the musicality of the original while maintaining its semantic content. The third chapter analyzes its text with respect to the translation methods and strategies used, and is concluded with an overview stemming from critical reflection. Emphasis is placed on the problematics of poetic language and its translatability, the Mallarméan chance and necessity as well as motivation and arbitrariness of the lansign, and on the ratio of intentionality in translation. The text is analyzed in the light of Saussurean anagrams and the ensuing paragramatic theory as well as Derridaean différance, while the best appropriate to translating seems to be Meschonnic's concept of rhythm as well Mukařovský's semantic gesture. A proof has been established concerning closeness of the Benjaminean concept of translation and Rosa's quest for a "language of metaphysics". The Czech translation published in book form has won the Jungmann Prize...

Barns brev till Jultomten, Läsglädje, engagemang och literacyutveckling

Ivakko, Sirkka January 2020 (has links)
Nyckelord: barnbrev, bild, engagemang, fritidens läsning, inlevelse, literacyutveckling, perspektivering, social kontext / AbstractThis paper is a qualitative study of children´s letters to the editor of Jultomten, during a period of three years at the turn of the century 1900. The letters are analyzed with the aim of increasing the understanding of how children identify with the characters in texts and illustrations, and how their appreciation and involvement enhances their literacy development. The result indicates that children´s reception of the illustrated journal concerns the areas and subjects that are connected to their own experiences. Involvement, empathy and the social context are constructed through the children´s own experiences and living conditions. Finally, it is argued that the findings can be transferred and be valid in expanding children´s literacy development today. Keywords: children´s letters, involvement, illustrations, literacy development, the social context
