[pt] PRIMITIVE: A EXPERIÊNCIA DO PRIMITIVISMO EM APICHATPONG WEERASETHAKUL / [en] PRIMITIVE: THE EXPERIENCE OF PRIMITIVISM IN APICHATPONG WEERASETHAKULTHIAGO BRITO BRANDAO 06 April 2021 (has links)
[en] From Gaugin to Picasso, the primitive is an important concept in the
development of the European avant-garde. A difficult term to deal with,
historically tied to the process of colonialism and eurocentrism, it came as a
surprise to find it as the title of a project from one of the most inventive and
radical artists of the 21st Century: the thailandese Apichatpong Weerasethakul.
Created in 2009, the Primitive Project is a reencounter of Weerasethakul with the
northeast of Thailand, the region of Isaan, and consists of a art installation, made
up of seven video-installations and two short-films, an artists book of the CUJO
platform, and of the feature film Uncle Boonmee who can recall his past lives,
awarded the Palme D or in Cannes, in 2010. Starting with a theoretical, critical
and historical discussion on the concept of the primitive in the 20th century, the
dissertation elaborates a reading of the images and concepts that constitutes the
Primitive Project, indication how Weerasethakul appropriates the concept of the
primitive, transforming it in a space for experiencing new possibilities of
engagement with the audiovisual form.

[pt] MOBILIDADES E PERMANÊNCIAS: ANÁLISE DOS DESLOCAMENTOS MIGRATÓRIOS EM RIO DAS PEDRAS / [en] MOBILITY AND PERMANENCE: ANALYSIS OF MIGRATORY MOVEMENTS IN RIO DAS PEDRASKASSIA DE PAULA RANGEL PEDROSA 07 November 2023 (has links)
[en] This dissertation addresses the issue of migratory displacement in Rio das
Pedras, a favela in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, and investigates how the
concept of permanence contributes to the field of studies on mobilities. The
research is based on an empirical work that uses the participant observation
technique and the trajectory analysis methodology, in addition to a review of
the theoretical literature. The historical context focuses on a period of intense
migratory flow from the Northeastern states to the city of Rio de Janeiro,
during a phase of significant expansion in the sectors of civil construction and
services. The objective of the investigation is to reflect on the affectionsand
feelings that arise as a result of displacement, considering that this
phenomenon is not limited only to the spatial dimension, but also relates to
the subjective and social scope. In this way, other transversal themes that
contribute to the understanding of permanencies are analyzed, such as the role
of memory as an explanatory element of the movement of trajectories.
Furthermore, we examine the production of moralities and their impact on the
creation of sociability. Finally, we investigate how these aspects are
manifested in the specific context of territoriality, taking into account the
challenges of urban violence in contemporary society.

construyendo y contando nuestra historia. / The present theoretical-artistic, with great documentary contribution, research thesis deals
with archeology as a discipline that consolidates historical truths, and the platforms that give
them validity. In this way, Reconstrucciones Imaginarias investigates the factors that explain
the creation and destruction of a form of history, as well as the mechanisms used by
legitimation platforms to define the value of different perspectives on history. That is why this
research raises the following question: is it possible that there are different truths from which
our history has been built and that it is the mechanisms that legitimation platforms possess
that determine the value we attribute to these truths? The project has been approached through
the history of a cultural object: the interpretation of the temples of Cerro Blanco and Punkurí
created by Julio C. Tello in 1938 in the National Museum of Anthropology History and
Archeology of Peru. The objective of the thesis is to reflect on the conditions that allow
maximizing or minimizing a given fact in the construction of history. It also seeks to rescue
the value of the different narratives or stories in the construction of historical truth and to
demonstrate the mechanisms used in the legitimation platforms to consolidate these truths. In
summary, this paper seeks to study how we are building and telling our history.

vivir y habitar diferentes memorias.

On May 31, 1970, a large earthquake occurred in the mountainous area of Peru, Huaraz.
Although that date is currently remembered through a ceremony, the survivors of the
earthquake do not forget what was “a break in their lives.” In this sense, the virtual community
“Huaracinos of the 70s” has represented a means to preserve the collective memory of said
event. In this case, the consequences that they remember from the earthquake are diverse, since
they took them down paths that they did not think to take and, in some cases, they took them
away from their city. The present research seeks to understand the sense of community and
place attachment in a group of survivors of the 1970 earthquake in Huaraz, based on collective
memory, through socio-constructionist epistemology. To this end, two groups of participatory
interviews were carried out with survivor members of the previously mentioned virtual
community. The results show that the sense of community has been enhanced through
identification with the virtual community and the emotional connection shared between its
members. Furthermore, there is a strong emotional closeness to the city, which they resort to
for collective and personal activities, demonstrating that, despite finding a transformed Huaraz,
there is still an attachment to said place. In this way, even 53 years after the disaster, both the
sense of community and the attachment to Huaraz are reinforced by their common history,
strengthening collective memory.

[en] MEMORY OF THE OFFENSE: TRANSITIONAL JUSTICE, HUMAN RIGHTS AND THE TRANSMISSION OF MEMORY / [pt] MEMÓRIA DA OFENSA: JUSTIÇA DE TRANSIÇÃO, DIREITOS HUMANOS E TRANSMISSÃO DA MEMÓRIAMARIA IZABEL GUIMARÃES BERALDO DA COSTA VARELLA 08 January 2024 (has links)
criação do novo.
[en] This thesis aims to critically address the encounter between the way memory is understood in the field of transitional justice, on the one hand, and, on the other, how it is conceived from the work of Walter Benjamin, and conveyed by Primo Levi s literature. This is, more precisely, an attempt to draw from Benjaminian theory and Primo Levi s literature to think critically about the form of memory and its limits when embedded in the field of transitional justice. This is because, we argue, there are certain assumptions implicit in this field that give rise to questions about its transitory nature, and that delimit the power of memory as a means to critique the present and, thus, to drive the creation of the new. To address the theme, we address, in the first part of the thesis, conceptual and genealogical contours of transitional justice; the forms of expression of memory, from the understanding of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR); and some of the assumptions of the field. In the second part of the paper, we present some of the aspects that mark the conception of memory in Benjamin, in order to achieve another perspective on the potency of the relationship between the transmission of past experience and the present. Then, we approximate Benjaminian conception of memory, and the literary form created by Primo Levi to transmit the memory of the offense.

[en] This dissertation proposes to walk through this land of caboclo following the trails that the arrows of the forest spirits, historically, opened through the forest. Starting from an exusiac analysis key, I assume a circular methodological perspective to contemplate spaces of coexistence between Órun and Aiyé that make up the ways of organizing black territorialities in the dispute for good living in the midst of ciscoloniality. Making critical use of the official records of the Palmares experience, I intend to understand the formation of a counter-colonial multiethnic society between the end of the 16th century and the beginning of the 18th century; as well as their legacies of permanence for the grammar of liberty adopted and replicated by black strongholds in the city of Rio de Janeiro from the end of the 19th century, such as Little Africa, until the present time – in the edges of Tijuca Forest with Morro do Salgueiro, Horto Florestal and the Vila-Parque da Cidade favela. Even in the face of a reality that only allows black and indigenous people to die, targeting our death with policies of terror created from the shedding of our blood to irrigate the gardens of Casa-Grande... a sophisticated and insubmissive black feminine articulation insists, with the little that they usually have at their disposal, to define and redefine themselves as a community in the territory; facing diasporic extermination and forced migrations. By approaching categories such as Amefricanity and Afrobioethics, I rescue the specific unity that unites us in a notion of life guided by Afro-centered values, inherited from the memory of our ancestors, so that we can continue to talk about dreams, to build a future and to exist in our pluralities on this side of the Atlantic Ocean.

[en] This research has as its theme the body as a space of ancestral memory, with the
proposal to intervene in its representations, through the creation of the Ahosis Dolls,
based on the experiences offered to the artisans of the Onikojá Institute, in the

samba. As a methodology, notably, action research proposed the experimentation
of body movements associated with the cultural manifestations then listed, in order
to promote the expansion of the motor repertoires of the artisans involved, in the
perspective of favoring the creation of dolls with new postures that refer to the
memory ancestor of African origin. Although impacted by the social isolation
imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, the development of this methodology became
possible with the holding of remote meetings, as well as with the possibility of
partnership with the DHIS Laboratory, in which the activities promoted by the

[en] APPRENTICESHIP IN CINEMA BETWEEN GENERATIONS: FROM HUMBERTO MAURO TO THE AUDIOVISUAL POLE OF ZONA DA MATA MINEIRA / [pt] APRENDIZADOS INTERGERACIONAIS EM CINEMA: DE HUMBERTO MAURO AO POLO AUDIOVISUAL DA ZONA DA MATA MINEIRAANDREA VICENTE TOLEDO ABREU 17 June 2020 (has links)
[en] This work articulates empirical and theoretical elements in the understanding of relational and intergenerational experiences of knowledge construction having as reference the tradition of studies that analyze the links between cinema and education. It was important to understand how a historical tradition of learning by and for cinema was configured in Cataguases / MG. The Cinema Cycle in Cataguases (1920s) had a significant impact on the constitution of the original bases of Brazilian cinema not only because it instituted a certain way of making cinema, but also because it created ways to bring together people from different origins, interests and perspectives around creation and dissemination of cinematographic works. Thus, it was possible to identify and analyze possible connections between experiences, memories and ways of transmitting knowledge generated by these people and the contemporary creation (2010) of an audiovisual production pole in the same city. The study sought to understand the structure of this Pole which took up the story of filmmaker Humberto Mauro to consolidate itself as a cultural experience; how the people who were / are in front of it seek the past to refer to a powerful cinema present; what were the conditions of possibility that caused the cinema to reappear in Cataguases almost 100 years later; and why there are concerns at the Pole in an attempt to build relationships with the school. For this, connections between past and present were identified through interviews, Pole documents, journalistic articles and academic and literary publications that address the life and work of Humberto Mauro. The material produced was analyzed in the light of the works and theoretical perspectives by Norbert Elias and Pierre Bourdieu. Such fundamentals are related to the sociology of social processes of long duration which takes human coexistence as the primary source of learning. The contemporary cataguasenses are heirs of the knowledge built in a process whose internal convergence is given by the cinema and continues configuring new knowledge and new ways of producing it. The memory of this process is present on the city floor, in monuments, in squares, in the streets, in institutes, in foundations and mainly in social practices.
