[en] THE RELATIONSHIP SCHOOL-FAMILY-NEIGHBORHOOD IN THE FAVELA DA MARÉ AND THE PROGRAM SCHOOLS OF TOMORROW/EDUCATING NEIGHBORHOOD / [pt] A RELAÇÃO ESCOLA-FAMÍLIA-VIZINHANÇA NA FAVELA DA MARÉ E O PROGRAMA ESCOLAS DO AMANHÃ/BAIRRO EDUCADOREDSON DINIZ NOBREGA JUNIOR 11 October 2017 (has links)
[en] This study aims on discussing the relations among public schools, low-income families, and the schools neighborhood, considering poor areas in Rio de Janeiro, specially a community called Maré. The research focuses on the relations within Escolas do Amanhã / Educator Neighborhood (PEA/BE in Portuguese), which considers the perspective of new priority and compensatory ways of education driven to vulnerable areas, as well as school space and time adjustments. A qualitative study of this experience has been conducted in order to analyze elementary and middle public schools in Maré that participate or not in PEA/BE. The objective has been to question if there are differences in the relations among school, family and neighborhood, considering schools which participate in the program and schools which do not. Different educational, school, family and social agents have been interviewed in order to comprehend the way they see this policy. Educator Neighborhood project, in particular, has been developed within Escolas do Amanhã program by the Education Municipal Office (SME-RJ in Portuguese), with the goal of integrating public schools placed in violent areas and with low results in relation to their education network, families and neighborhood, considering territory as an educational and pedagogical tool. The main results of the research show that Escolas do Amanhã / Educator Neighborhood program did not leave a consistent result in building better school, family and neighborhood relations among the schools that participated in the program. One of the possible reasons for it may be the lack of a guideline between PEA/BE and its implementation, as well as problems referring to its political-pedagogical coordination, such as its fragmentation and segmentation. This guideline could come from the Education Municipal Office, pointing to a path that leads to the program s objectives. Therefore, this thesis ends up with some recommendation about public policies that may contribute to closer relations among school, family and neighborhood.

Le mythe de la Vierge Noire de Montserrrat : formation et instrumentalisations (IXe-XXIe siècle) / The myth of the Montserrat Black Virgin : formation and implementation (IXe-XXIe century)Imperiali-Decker, Odile 13 December 2013 (has links)
Thanks to the presence and implementation of the Mare de Déu, the abbey and the mountain of Montserrat became, in the course of the centuries, a religious symbol and a bastion of christianity, and, later on, the guardians of the catalan traditions, culture and identity. The religious founding myth, linked to Montserrat Virgin, is associated with Barcelona Count Guifré le Velu, so that religion and national identity have remained closely interlinked since the end of the Middle Ages. Numerous other legends were created at the same time, but the relationship between Catalan people and the Mare de Déu of Montserrat takes a special orientation and grows in a specific place. The universality of the myths enables a political and religious implementation of the marian image throughout the history of Catalonia, until nowadays. The XIXe century marks a major step in the implementation of the Moreneta and Her connection with the sense of identity. The Montserrat mountain becomes the symbol of the Catalan mother country and the Virgin of Montserrat is transformed into the Virgin of the mother country. The pro-Franco regime meant a deep change. At first, the Moreneta protectd the intellectual and cultural substitution carried out by the Montserrat Benedictines, then their political commitment became total. With the arrival of democracy, Catalonia has been recovering its past, and a new role has been emerging for the Mare de Déu of Montserrat.

Contra Thomam : un aperçu de l’antithomisme à la fin du XIIIe siècle et au début du XIVe / Contra Thomam : an insight into Antithomism at the end of the XIIIth and beginning of the XIVth CenturiesRobin Fabre, Anne-Sophie 29 June 2013 (has links)
The purpose of this PhD is to examine the accuracy of the concept of « antithomism » when applied to late XIIIth and early XIV th intellectual history. I firstly adress the historical context, from 1274 to 1324, and the arguments involving the theaching of Aquinas in various intellectual domains. In doing so I underline the various debates that occur about how to understand Aquinas(work looking specifically at censorship, the controversies between Franciscans and Dominicans and first rules about the various readings of Aquinas’works. The second part goes into further depth about the work of two scholars of the late XIIIthe century, who have been frequently labelled « antithomists » in today’s historiography : Roger Marston, OFM, and Dietrich of Freiberg, OP. I intend to examine how they refuse Thomas’noetic, from both a doctrinal and textual point of view.

In order to assess the relative contribution of several microbial compartments (biofilms, raw water and sediment) we evaluated methylation of samples from ponds of temperate area (Lorraine, France) and from subarctic ponds (Nunavik, Quebec). Biofilms were not found to specifically promote mercury methylation, whereas sediment emerges as the main compartment involved in mercury methylation. The formation of methylmercury is positively linked to the temperature and to nutrients. Thus, by increasing the open water period, the water temperature and of the microbial activity, current climate changes may turn these ponds in preferential location for mercury methylation in the subarctic ecosystem. Finally, the reactivity of green rust, a mineral which can be produced by bacterial activity of environmental biofilms, may compete with mercury methylation by reducing HgII into Hg0

[en] MARÉ S MUSEUM: BETWEEN EDUCATION, MEMORIES AND IDENTITIES / [pt] MUSEU DA MARÉ: ENTRE EDUCAÇÃO, MEMÓRIAS E IDENTIDADESHELENA MARIA MARQUES ARAUJO 15 July 2013 (has links)
Paul Ricoeur, Jacques Le Goff e Beatriz Sarlo. Para o de identidade utilizamos
Stuart Hall, Manuel Castells, Vera Maria Candau e Tomaz Tadeu da Silva. Para
espaços educativos não formais privilegiei Maria Glória Gohn, Jaume Trilla e Elie
Ganem.
No
[en] The research intertwines memory, non-formal educational spaces and identity.
The main objective is to analyze the educational dimension of the Maré Museum
in Rio de Janeiro and its possible contributions to the strengthening of the group
identity related to popular groups through appreciation and reinterpretation of the
history and construction of local memories. I approach the concept, the theoretical
assumptions and challenges of community museums as non-formal educative
spaces, by using the Maré Museum as a case study .
The community museums and ecomuseums emerge in Rio de Janeiro with
the Eco-museum of Santa Cruz in 1983, but became more visible with the Maré
Museum as of 2006, since this is the first museum in Brazil s slums created by the
community itself.
The theoretical framework related to the concept of memory was essentially
based on work of Paul Ricoeur, Jacques Le Goff and Beatriz Sarlo. For the
theoretical framework associated with identity development, I have chosen the
studies performed by Stuart Hall, Manuel Castells, Vera Maria Candau and
Tomaz Tadeu da Silva. For the non-formal educational spaces theoretical basis I
have privileged Maria Gloria Gohn, Jaume Trilla and Elie Ganem. Finally, for the
concepts of New Museology, community museum and ecomuseum I rely
primarily on Mario Chagas and Hugue de Varine.
My methodological approach of ethnographic inspiration was based on oral
history. In the field research I used three types of approaches to the object of
study: observation of different activities in the Museum and of the community at
large, semi-structured interviews to fishermen of the Maré and to the directors and
staff of the Museum of the Maré and analysis of the institutional books of the Museum, namely the Book of Signatures and the Book of Testimonies from
visitors.
As one of the main conclusions of my research on the educational
dimension of the Mare Museum I can state that this museum does have meaning
for the region of Maré and dialogues with the city, the country and elsewhere,
although it does not fully represent all its communities. However, this museum
has been able to develop a community related feature , as it was created by and
has the daily involvement of the social movement and the local community of
their surroundings.
Moreover, the fact that the Mare Museum display a museographic language
which raises references of local history and allows visitors to reflect on them and
build local memories enabling a strengthening of identity, makes its educative
dimension particularly evident and significant.
Finally, the Maré Museum generates visions of ourselves and others by
establishing a more subtle and constant dynamic between individuals identities
and their constructed memories and narrated stories.

Retrospective epidemiological study of vesivirus prevalence and natural transmission in cattle and horses in the USA / Retrospektiv-epidemiologische Studie zur Prävalenz und natürlichen Übertragung von Vesiviren bei Rindern und Pferden in den USAKurth, Andreas 29 June 2004 (has links) (PDF)
Screening of cattle sera: distribution of vesiviruses in terrestrial domestic animals. To broaden the knowledge of vesivirus occurrence and distribution dynamics in domestic livestock, we attempted the first extensive study in cattle to assess the distribution of vesiviruses by examining the seroprevalence. Cattle were chosen to be studied here, because this livestock is well characterized, they are suffering diseases with high percentages of unknown aetiologies and extensive animal data are available. Furthermore, several case reports exist on the isolation of vesiviruses from cattle. The objective was to evaluate the distribution of vesiviruses in cattle, correlate vesivirus infection with disease manifestations and estimate the possible impact on other animals and humans. Roughly seven hundred bovine sera from nine States within the United States were acquired and were tested for antibodies against vesiviruses. The sera tested were drawn from a total population of about 9 million cattle in nine States with a geographical distribution ranging from northern Alaska to tropical Hawaii. Screening of horse sera and tissue: correlation of vesivirus prevalence and mare reproductive loss syndrome (MRLS)? A newly emerged disease in horses was analyzed in the second half of this research project. Since all tests for the common toxic abortogenic agents had failed, a further nationwide investigation was initiated for uncommon and unknown infectious agent(s). Caliciviruses, and vesiviruses in particular, are a well established cause of abortion in swine and seals. Nevertheless, these viruses are not routinely tested for or diagnosed. When the Laboratory for Calicivirus Studies at Oregon State University was asked for specific help in this investigation, pertinent seroepidemiological studies were entrusted to me under the guidance of Professor Dr. Alvin W. Smith. After the first serological examination of equine blood samples from mares that had aborted in 2001 and an equal number of sera from unaffected animals from 2000 were examined, tissue samples from aborted fetuses and two other sets of blood samples from ETC-exposed mares from two experiments were acquired. These have been tested for vesivirus-antibodies and antigen. Furthermore, additional samples of ETC were tested for vesiviruses by RT-PCR.

Stepwise differentiation of pancreatic acinar cells from mES cells by manipulating signalling pathwayDelaspre, Fabien 04 February 2011 (has links)
fenotip acinar in vitro.
l’especificació pancreàtica i acinar i l’expansió/diferenciació de
progenitors acinars.
Despite known involvement of pancreatic acinar cells in exocrine
pathologies (pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer), the lack of
normal cell-based models has limited the study of the alterations
that occur in the acinar differentiation program. We have
previously shown that mESC (murine embryonic stem cells),
which are pluripotent, can acquire an acinar phenotype in vitro.
This was achieved, in part, by a combination of signals provided
by the culture of foetal pancreases which was, however, no
specific for the acinar lineage. The aim of this work was to
develop a protocol selective for the acinar lineage based on the
sequential activation of signaling pathways that recapitulate
pancreatic development in vivo, through the definitive endoderm
formation, the pancreatic and acinar specification and the
expansion/differentiation of acinar progenitors. Treatment of
embryoid bodies with Activin A enhanced the expression of
endodermal genes as previously described. Subsequent treatment
with Retinoic acid, FGF10 and Cyclopamine, an inhibitor of the
Hedgehog pathway, resulted in the enhancement of pancreatic
progenitor markers Pdx1, Ptf1a and Cpa1 but also of those
expressed in the hepatic lineage, which were reduced by BMPs
inhibition. Cells were further cultured in Matrigel using a 3D
culture system in the presence of follistatin, dexamethasone, and
KGF leading to a significant enhancement of the mRNA and
protein levels of acinar markers while decreasing the expression
of endocrine ones. Moreover, active Amyl was released into the
medium. These data indicate that the selective activation of the
acinar differentiation program in ES cells can be achieved by
stepwise induction of signaling pathways involved in pancreatic
exocrine development providing a potential tool for studying
pancreatic differentiation and pancreas-related diseases.

Caractérisation des systèmes hybrides pour le traitement des eaux pluviales : mitigation des substances prioritaires et émergentes / Caracterisation of hybrid systems for the treatment of urban stormwater : fate of emerging pollutantsSchmitt, Noëlle 09 September 2014 (has links)
This work deals with the treatment of effluents from a small urban residential catchment area drained by a separate sewer network. The treatment is made with a sedimentation pond and a constructed wetland. Instrumentation and samplings enable hydrodynamic and physic-chemical monitoring. Results show that the system deeply contributes to reduction of pollution before discharge into receiving water. The pollutant loads are reduced between 70 and 100% for all pollutants (except BOD5 and nutrients, between 4 and 100%). The sedimentation pond plays an essential role in eliminating pollutants in particulate phase, more specifically PAHs (100%). The constructed wetland treat pollutants in particulate phase that are not retained by the pond, but also pollutants in dissolved phase (nutrients, organic matter, metals and pesticides).

The Rift Valley fever (RVF) is an arboviral zoonosis, first identified in Kenya in 1930, which has spread over many African countries. The RVF virus (RVFV) is a mosquito-borne virus member of the family Bunyaviridae, genus Phlebovirus. Statistical models that are used for predicting RVF outbreaks in East Africa do not work in West Africa where the factors and processes involved are still not well described. The aim of this thesis is to identify the factors and epidemiological processes that explain the emergence of RFV outbreaks in Senegal. To achieve that, we have chosen an eco-epidemiological approach targeted on the main candidate mosquito vectors of the RFV virus. By using the environmental and climatic variables and by their exploitation in mathematical models, we tried to answer two major epidemiological questions: (1) where are the potential zones at risk? And, (2) when are the periods favourable to RFV outbreaks? The study has been carried out at a local scale, in an area of about 10 km2 centred on the village of Barkedji in the pastoral Ferlo region in northern Senegal. When identifying risk areas for virus transmission, we used remote sensing and landscape analysis to characterize favourable environments fot the two main candidate vectors, Aedes vexans and Culex poicilipes (Diptera: Culicidae). For predicting risk of RVF outbreaks, we developed a mosquito population model for the two vector species taking into account the dynamics of the ponds as breeding sites. The results of the simulation have been validated with captured mosquito field data. This required the prior development of a temporary pond dynamics model that was calibrated and validated with field and remote sensing data. The results of the landscape analysis confirmed that favourable environments for the mosquito vectors of the RVF could be characterised by remote sensing. The importance of the ponds and the surrounding vegetation density was also highlighted, allowing to map the spatial heterogeneity of RVF circulation risk. The results of the mosquito model simulations showed that years of active virus circulation matched the years when both vector species were densely present. Indeed, the simulations showed high mosquito densities in 1987 and 2003, which correspond to the most important epidemic and epizootic events in that region.
