Utopisk underhållning : - om rumsligheten i två musikalfilmer

Wikström, Sara January 2005 (has links)

Representing the 'ouens' : an investigation into the construction of performed identities on stage in KwaZulu-Natal, in the works of Quincy Fynn (Walking like an African, 2004) and Kaseran Pillay (My cousin brother, 2003).

Munsamy, Verne R. 29 October 2010 (has links)
'The core of the theatre is an encounter. The [character) who makes an act of self revelation is, so to speak, one who establishes contact with himself. That is to say, an extreme confrontation, sincere, disciplined, precise and total - not merely a confrontation with his thoughts, but one involving his whole being from instinct and his unconscious right up to his most lucid state'. (Jerzy Grotowski, in Catron, 2000:19) This dissertation investigates the construction of the marginalised self, an identity, and the impact that context, pre and post-apartheid South Africa, may have on that constructed masculine identity. This examination of the self is mediated through the medium of theatre. It is this 'encounter', which theatre offers, that becomes an important instrument through which the self, society and social issues may be examined and critiqued; and it is through this critique that change may be sparked and brought about. This investigation of the self, the construction of a masculine identity, is looked at through the writings of, amongst others, Stuart Hall (1996 (a) & 1996 (b); 1997), Lawrence Grossberg (1996), Judith Butler (1993, 1999), Robert Connell (1987; 2002) and Robert Morrell (1998, 2001(a) & 2001 (b)). Further discussions around the construction of identity and its relationship to context (a multicultural and multiracial context) is examined via the writings of Richard Schechner (1991) and Patrice Pavis (1992). The theatrical forms of self-standing monologues and stand-up comedy are useful forms through which 'protest' against the status quo may be engaged. These forms are utilised by Quincy Fynn (self-standing monologues) and Kaseran Pillay (stand-up comedy); and it is through their performance works Walking like an African (2004) and My Cousin brother (2003), respectively, that this dissertation looks at their challenges to hegemonic forms of masculinity. / Thesis (M.A.)-University of KwaZulu-Natal, 2006.

O CORPO EM TRÂNSITO ENTRE O TEATRO E A PERFORMANCE: DE AMA À MINHA VELHA / THE BODY IN TRANSIT BETWEEN THE THEATER AND THE PERFORMANCE: FROM NURSE TO MY OLD LADY

Vinadé, Tatiana Barrios 16 August 2013 (has links)
Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / This work is part of the research developed in Visual Poetics, in the Master‟s Course in Visual Arts, in the area of Contemporary Art and it is connected to the research Line Art and Culture. The main objective of this work is the body in transit between the Theater and the Performance by shifting a theatrical character built from a dramatic text into the subject of the performative action. That character is the Nurse of the Greek tragedy Medea, written by Euripides. Presents such a starting point for research by understanding the Art of Performance , to focus the artist's body as a work of art , invests in its presence in art through his presentation detached representation of a fictional story , as in the theater conventional and thus causes changes in the treatment of the body in the Visual Arts and Theatre. Thus, the problem exposed was developed with the realization of performances that relied on the inclusion of the Nurse in different contexts. These contexts provoked changes in the actions of this character, which reconfigured her as a character from a dramaturgical text to make her the subject of the performative action with the character called My Old Lady. To carry out the Performances, the actress/performer has made a Pre-Performance, which consisted of two phases: first, with the physical preparation of the actress/performer and second, with the study of the context in which the Performance was held. The reflection of the Performances and the work as a whole led to think that the actress/performer has had the body in transit in the figure of My Old Lady.

Differences in security between native applications and web based applications in the field of health care

Dahl, Andreas, Nylander, Kristofer January 2015 (has links)
Developing native applications for different platforms with different resolutions and screen sizes is both time consuming and costly. If developers were able to develop one web based application which can be used on multiple platforms, yet retain the same level of security as a native application, they would be able to reduce both development time and costs. In this thesis we will investigate the possibilities of achieving a level of security in a web-based application that can equal that of a native application, as well as how to develop an application that uses the Mina Vårdkontakter (My Healthcare Contacts) framework.

Whole because of, not in spite of, our fragments: holistic survival in Walker's The color purple and The temple of my familiar

Keaton, Hetty 01 January 1991 (has links)
In this thesis, I will argue that the characters and groups in Walker's The Color Purple and The Temple of My Familiar, who practice holistic survival, remain or become whole, which is the key to living a meaningful life. For Walker, holistic survival entails embracing the fragments of our past, present, and future experiences. The past is made up of knowing about our personal experiences and remembering our heritage. The present is made up of healing the past by taking responsibility for the pain we have caused and valuing fellow life, and the future is made by using the past and present to create hope. It is not enough to merely survive, to continue breathing;rather, in order to survive whole, we must also successfully paste together the fragments that make up our past, present, and future. However, the consequences of neglecting any fragment can cause us to become lost. We can either collect and come to terms with our many fragments in order to become whole, or our experiences will remain scattered, leaving us fragmented beings.

Opozice "my" versus "oni" na webu Aeronet.cz / The Contract between "Us" and "Them" on the Aeronet.cz Website

Pýcha, Jaroslav January 2019 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the Aeronet.cz website and the division of society into 'Us' and 'Them' in the context of the website. The thesis is divided into two parts - a theoretical one and a research one. The theoretical part aims to describe the background of the researched website and certain phenomena which are believed to be connected to the website. This part also includes a review of theoretical concepts pertaining to the connection of language and ideology. Furthermore, certain strategies utilized in group identity construction and division of society into differently evaluated segments are described. The research is conducted in the form of a semiotic analysis but incorporates certain elements of critical discourse analysis as well. The analysis has two main goals. The first goal is to describe the composition of 'Us' and 'Them' groups in the context of the portal, the second goal is to investigate which strategies of identity construction are employed to achieve such division. Využití dichotomie My versus Oni v předvolebních projevech Joe Bidena a Donalda Trumpa z roku 2020 / Utilization of the Us versus Them Dichotomy in 2020 Campaign Speeches of Joe Biden and Donald Trump

Pýcha, Jaroslav January 2021 (has links)
This thesis aims to analyze the camping speeches of the two major candidates running for President of the Unites States in the 2020 general election and to inspect the ways in which both the candidates utilize the Us versus Them dichotomy. In doing so, the thesis provides a critique of the texts produced by the candidates and seeks to unveil their ideological motivation. As categorizing entities has a profound effect on the audience and their perception of reality, the goal is not only to unveil what entities the candidates discuss, but also to determine how they classify these entities. In addition, the strategies used by both the candidates to achieve entity evaluation are compared in order to contrast their rhetorical styles. The theoretical part of the thesis overviews concepts related to the construction of group identities and other ways of reproducing ideology in discourse. Furthermore, Hasan's approach to text analysis, which is employed in the analytical part, is introduced. A brief biography of both the candidates and a description of the US presidential election system are included as well. The analytical part is composed of Critical Discourse Analyses of selected topical segments from campaign speeches of Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Special focus is dedicated to the strategies the...

Fay, Katie 01 May 2004 (has links) (PDF)
This study examines the African-American author Ernest Gaines's three works The Sky is Gray, In My Father's House, and A Lesson before Dying as examples of oppressed manhood, and the gradual acceptance of the characteristics of manhood in Black males. Chapter One focuses on The Sky Is Gray and follows the young hero as he makes his transition from child to a young man understanding manhood. The second chapter looks at In My Father's House, exploring the relationship between father and son. Due to his father's abandonment, the son never learns what it means to be a man. However, at the same time his son is struggling to discover his manhood, the father finally becomes a man. Finally, chapter three centers on A Lesson before Dying, showing two males can learn manhood from each other. Although both are oppressed, together they achieve the manhood that is being robbed from them.
