• The Global ETD Search service is a free service for researchers to find electronic theses and dissertations. This service is provided by the Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations.
Our metadata is collected from universities around the world. If you manage a university/consortium/country archive and want to be added, details can be found on the NDLTD website.

Sicherheitsmanagement für Dateisysteme in Windows NT-Netzwerken per Tivoli TME 10: Entwicklung eines Modellierungstools für die Nutzerverwaltung

Stallbaum, Bert 20 November 2017 (has links)

Comparison of Persistence of Deleted Files on Different File Systems and Disk Types

Chinmay Amul Chhajed (18403644) 19 April 2024 (has links)

The presence of digital devices in various settings, from workplaces to personal spaces, necessitates reliable and secure data storage solutions. These devices store data on non-volatile media like Solid State Drives (SSDs) and Hard Disk Drives (HDDs), ensuring data preservation even after power loss. Files, fundamental units of data storage, are created, modified, and deleted through user activities like application installations or file management. File systems, acting as the backbone of the system, manage these files on storage devices.

This research explores how three key factors: (1) different operating systems running various file system types (ext4, NTFS, FAT, etc.), (2) different disk types (SSD and HDD), and (3) common user activities (system shutdowns, reboots, web browsing, downloads, etc.) influence the persistence of deleted files.

This research aims to fill a gap in the understanding by looking at how these factors influence how quickly new information overwrites deleted files. This is especially important for digital forensics, where investigators need to be sure they can find all the evidence on a device. The research will focus on how operating systems handle deleted files and how everyday activities affect the chances of getting them back. This can ultimately improve data security and make digital forensics more reliable.

Pokročilé nasazení OS xBSD v síti pro střední školu / Using Advanced xBSD Based Servers for High School

Zadina, Martin January 2007 (has links)
This work is about setting up Samba software on server with operating system from BSD family to primary domain controller rule in the high school computer network environment with Microsoft Windows stations. After introduction to Samba software there is examined problem of Windows network based on SMB protocol. There are described steps that are necessary to setup Samba software, disk sharing services, creation of user accounts and adding client stations to domain trust. At the next there is described problematic of network printing in the Windows environment, print servers and the solution with classical printing support in FreeBSD and CUPS printing support. In the next part there is described mass installation procedure of Windows stations with same hardware configuration. At the finish, there are noticed some tasks that are necessary for next operation of installed system.

Cluster-Slack Retention Characteristics: A Study of the NTFS Filesystem

Blacher, Zak January 2010 (has links)

This paper explores the statistical properties of microfragment recovery techniques used on NTFS filesystems in the use of digital forensics. A microfragment is the remnant file-data existing in the cluster slack after this file has been overwritten. The total amount of cluster slack is related to the size distribution of the overwriting files as well as to the size of cluster. Experiments have been performed by varying the size distributions of the overwriting files as well as the cluster sizes of the partition. These results are then compared with existing analytical models.
/ FIVES
