It was analized how this development process is carried out in these students, while students or citizens and how their identity is modeled in accordance to the market place they want to be in. To reach our goals, we analysed the scenario in which the Gastronomy and Hotel Administration undergraduated course, like technological branch, are inserted. To do so, we researched its related history and legislation, its origin as practical knowledge that recently became an area of interest for the academical area. The thesis focus is the student body itself. We analyzed his/her profile, asking a sample of students about his/her opinion on education and life conditions . We also made use of some students self-written life history. The theme analisis guided us to better know the essential elements for the student development process. We searched to understand this process through some basic concepts, such as citizenship, culture, identity, emancipation, social participation, non-formal education and assertiveness. This study concluded that the majority of researched students came from medium levels of society and have idealist thougths about the market place. Their professional choices came from, for most of them, their memories and life history. Happiness is a fundamental objective to their professional success. Family is highly valued. School is seen as part of their working hours and they approved the education they receive. Their professional identity is modelled by incorporating the demands of a even more competitive environment: good physical appearance and behaviour, experience in renowned restaurants and hotels and living abroad. However, the old dream of entrepreneurship is still strong.

Diploma thesis "Influence of the European Union on the mobility of volunteers coming to the Czech Republic" deals with the mobility of volunteers from partner countries of the EU who participate in the European Voluntary Service - the EU programme of. non -formal education in the Czech Republic. The thesis follows the existing development of mobility of people till 2004, when the Council of the EU used its increased competence in the area of freedom, security and justice and approved the Directive 2004/114/EC on the conditions of admission of third - country nationals for the purpose of studies, pupils exchange, unremunerated training or voluntary service. It is the first time ever when the Directive mentions the volunteers as a specific target group of the mobility for educational purpose. The paper evaluates if the directive reflects the present challenges of recognition of the non - formal education on the European level. Further on, it focuses specifically on the year 2007 when the influence of the European legislature entered into the immigration policy of the Czech Republic, particularly in the amendment of the act on residence of foreigners on the territory of the Czech Republic n. 326/1999 Sb. which among others allows the volunteers in the age of 18 till 25 years old to apply for the...

[pt] EDUCAÇÃO NÃO FORMAL PARA CULTURA CIENTÍFICA: O PÚBLICO DAS ATIVIDADES DE CIÊNCIA, TECNOLOGIA E EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL NO SESC MADUREIRA / [en] NON-FORMAL EDUCATION FOR SCIENTIFIC CULTURE: THE AUDIENCE IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT ACTIVITIES IN SESC MADUREIRA

CAROLINE DOS SANTOS MACIEL SILVA 17 June 2020 (has links)
[en] This research investigates Science, Technology and Environment (STE) activities developed at an informal educational establishment in the Madureira neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro city - RJ, Brazil. This work aims to discover what kind of educational activities are developed there, the spontaneous audience s socio-cultural background, in particular related to Science, Technology and Environment topics, and what focus the accountable professionals give to the development of activities, considering the six currents of Science, Technology, Society and Environment (STSE) teaching. The empirical research was done at an operational unit of Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC), the Social Service for Trade Workers. Forms and interviews were applied to the spontaneous audience and the professionals accountable for the activities development. The research mapped the STE activities offered to the public from June to August 2019, as published at the SESC Rio Agenda, a document that publicizes the SESC activities in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The theoric references which support the performed analysis insert this work into the research field of non-formal education for science and technology and the research field of science teaching through the STSE perspective. This work has contributions from authors such as Carvalho, Marandino and Cazelli on the approach of non-formal education sites as a medium for the popularization of science; Massarani and Moreira on science communication in the city of Rio de Janeiro; Bordieu on the relationship between access to cultural sites and his notion of cultural capital; and Pedretti, Nazir and Santos on the discussion of socio-scientific contents in the STSE approach. The results, submitted to quantitative analysis, indicate a highly educated audience, mostly female and black, residents from the SESC neighborhood and from a vast area around Madureira. Their reported income is between 1 to 3 times the Brazilian minimum wage, and the data points at SESC Madureira as being one of 9 the few alternatives to this sort of content in the region. Among the professionals at SESC, it was possible to observe personal trajectories marked by the presence of non-formal and social inclusion institutions and by attention to the demands of territories and their populations. The focus of the activities offered at SESC values above all else the understanding of scientific and environmental practices as associated with historic and socio-cultural aspects; the understanding of science, technology and environment as areas of knowledge that exist inside broader socio-cultural context; critical analysis and solution proposals for socioenvironmental issues which consider human action, and instigating the audience to develop an interest in pursuing scientific, technological or environmental careers, with a theoric background tied to Freirian education, multiculturalism and social inclusion.

Regional Patterns of Access and Participation in Non-Formal Cultural Education in Germany

Fobel, Lea, Kolleck, Nina 04 May 2023 (has links)
(1) Background: The equality of life chances in Germany is often assessed along the lines of a west/east and urban/rural differentiation in which the latter usually perform worse. One currently popular proposal for addressing these inequalities is to strengthen cultural and arts education. The question arises to what extent regional characteristics genuinely influence participation opportunities and to what extent individual resources still play a decisive role. (2) Methods: Using descriptive analyses and multilevel logistic regression modelling, we investigate the distribution of and participation in non-formal cultural education amongst German youth. (3) Results: We find that differences are more complex than a simple west/east or urban/rural divides. Rather, cultural activities must be considered in terms of their character in order to assess the mechanisms at play. There seem to be differences in the dependency on district funding between very peripheral and very central districts that frame the cultural infrastructure. (4) Conclusions: Regional discrepancies are not uniformly distributed across different fields of education or infrastructure. Simplifying statements that classify peripheral regions the general losers can be refuted here. Simultaneously, more comprehensive data could yield significantly more results than we are currently able to produce.

Choosing Sustainability Education : Context, Values and Resources of Parents choosing non-formal Sustainability Education Projects in Germany

Reymann, Lennart January 2022 (has links)
Non-formal education projects are seen as taking a key role regarding Education for Sustainable Development; however, the conditions of participation are still scarcely explored. The objective of this study is to develop a concept helping to understand the resources, motivations, underlying values, and context of parents in the process of choosing a non-formal Education for Sustainability project in Germany for their children aged six to twelve. For this, the school choice concept of Raveaud and van Zanten, which is utilizing “resource” definitions in approximation to Bourdieu’s capital, is adapted for the non-formal sustainability education sector, by implementing the concept of environmental capital, conceptualizing the choice framework for non-formal sustainability education. Ten interviews with parents from such projects have been conducted in the summer of 2021 and analysed based on the newly developed choice framework for non-formal sustainability education. Unlike what the adapted school-choice theory suggests, the local normative framework has little impact on the choices parents make in the non-formal choice process. The results indicate that especially cultural resources within the framework of environmental capital and accumulated in the informal learning space have had a formative impact on the parents, which let them to enrol their children to participate in the sustainability education projects. In comparison to formal school choice processes, the tension between impersonal and personal values is not as tangible for parents. As projects combine expressive values like self-realisation and impersonal values like environmental awareness in their pedagogical approaches, parents are even able to satisfy both their personal and impersonal values while choosing an SE project. It is being discussed how parents can be strengthened in their role to pass on sustainability values, without creating an even greater inequality regarding environmental capital, as well as the importance of a symbiosis between EE and ESD projects to further sustainability education in Germany.

[pt] COLETIVOS PARENTAIS NA CIDADE DO RIO DE JANEIRO: EXPERIÊNCIAS FAMILIARES NA EDUCAÇÃO DAS CRIANÇAS / [en] PARENTAL COLLECTIVES IN THE CITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO: FAMILY EXPERIENCES IN THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN

PEROLA GABRIELA DE B F DOMINGUES 27 April 2020 (has links)
[en] This dissertation aims to know the parental collectives or parental day care centers, a new way of educating children from 0 to 3 years that has been broadening their adepts in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Although the school continues to be seen as a privileged locus for the construction of knowledge, it is already recognized that it is not the only place for this purpose. In Brazil, some families have been inspired by the model of parental collectives from France to think about the education of their children, an experience that has been developing in the country for about five years. Parental collectives are managed by families and educators to propose enriching activities for the age group, without the families being separated. This work intends to deepen the studies about the parental collectives in the city of Rio de Janeiro in an attempt to understand the proposal, the parties involved, how they operate and the pedagogical practices developed. For the development of the research, we sought subsidies within the context of non-formal education, using national and foreign literature, dialoguing with authors such as Trilla and Arantes. We also used the studies on childhood presented by Aries, Gélis and Kuhlmann, in view of the historical invisibility of care for the age group from zero to three years and the historical struggles for a quality educational service for this public. The methodological resources used were: (i) the application of an online questionnaire to families and educators of parental collectives in the city of Rio de Janeiro, with the purpose of mapping and delineating existing parental collectives; (ii) observation of the activities carried out in parental groups; (iii) semi-structured interviews with families and educators involved in this experience. The research allowed to identify that the dissatisfaction with the pedagogical proposals of the institutionalized day cares and the parents desire to participate actively in the childhood of their children appear among the main motivations for the option forthe parental collectives. The parental collectives are formed mainly by upper middle-class families, living in the southern part of the city with hired educators working with their families. It was also possible to verify that playing in a free way is valued and gains strength in the pedagogical proposals of the parental collectives.
