January 2015 (has links)
Abstract: It is understood that mediation proves important as the way to a more committed socially performance in reading incentive practices. It is through that it is created forms of action that have the significant approaches based, for example, guided by the appropriation of information and knowledge construction. In this sense, the reading is presented as an important factor, with the basic requirement for the appropriation of information. However, it is cleared that there is a certain lack of the studies directly focused to the topic within the Information Science. In this way, it is seeked to analyze the relationships between practices to encourage reading and mediation of information, in particular the aspects related to the interference of agents, information appropriation and the construction of knowledge and critical thinking. Therefore, it delimited as focus of analysis the practices developed in the city of Londrina, within the state of Paraná, specifically in the award-winning Project Bibliotecas Escolares: Palavras Andantes, developed by Londrina Department of Education since 2002. It was used a qualitative approach and exploratory method by mean of Discourse Analysis (AD) technique and the Discourse of the Collective Subject (DCS) to analyze the data obtained in interviews, documents and notices. It was found that the strengthening of the mediation process bases may be the "key" to that review must have more impacts outlined in projects such as what constitutes the universe for this work. At the end, It is proposed a restructuring of the bases of reading incentive projects for the optimization of these, in order to widely promote the appropriation of information, and the construction of knowledge and critical thinking. / Mestre

The Contribution of Reflective Writing to Ecological Awareness at the H.I. Andrews Experimental Forest

Hoshaw, Robert M., 1983- 06 1900 (has links)
ix, 94 p. : ill. A print copy of this thesis is available through the UO Libraries. Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / This thesis examines the Long-Term Ecological Reflections at H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, Oregon, a project that promotes creative inquiry at an ecological research station. I analyze how reflective writing contributes to a deeper understanding of ecosystem processes and fosters a closer connection to nature, referred to as "ecological awareness." I argue that the greatest ecological awareness comes from a combination of scientific and artistic ways of knowing as well as physical immersion in nature. I critically analyze the work of four writers: Jane Coffey, Vicki Graham, Freeman House, and Robin Kimmerer. These works create a strong connection to place for the reader and facilitate an understanding of the forest ecosystem through a discussion of scientific facts. They also create a sense of place through vivid and metaphorical language. These reflections will become an increasingly valuable mode of inquiry as the Andrews Forest develops a stronger writer-scientists interaction.

Van Niekerk, Karen 06 1900 (has links)
Guilt is an emotion which all people experience at times through the course of their lives. There are however, those who experience guilt all the time and struggle with the effects of it, for example depression, anxiety, anger, etcetera. The symptoms of guilt demonstrate destruction and influence the complete functioning of a person - body, emotions, mind, and spirit. The current psychotherapeutic interventions focus on the treatment of the symptoms of guilt. Symptom treatment brings only tempor ry relief, which is usually followed by new symptoms developing or relapses. Apart from the focus on the symptoms of guilt, it is also important that the therapist should understand why one person is more vulnerable than another person to develop guilt, and why is guilt preserved. Accordingly treatment can be shifted from symptom treatment to solving the problems of the cause and maintenance of guilt. Research on guilt focuses primarily on the effect of guilt on personality development (pathology among others). Less research has been done on the cause of guilt - especially subconscious guilt. The overall aim of this study is to uncover the dynamic course of subconscious guilt retroperspectively. A literature study on guilt serves as introduction to the case study. The research is done by means of a case study to uncover the subconscious perceptions and thoughts of the respondent, which will be described, interpreted and explained. The research will establish recommendations for Educational Psychologists, psychologists in other categories, parents and teachers to understand the cause and subconscious dynamic course of guilt. That will enable them to interpret the overt behaviour in the context of the complete psychodynamics. Literature on the practical course of therapy and the train of thoughts of the therapist is in short supply. This research seeks to contribute to filling this gap when the complete therapeutic interaction between the therapist and the client is put down in writing. / Psychology of Education / D. Ed. Die doeltreffendheid van 'n opleidingskursus in kreatiwiteit

Van Vliet, Rouxna Janel 11 1900 (has links)
The aim of the study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a training course in creative abilities. The research was structured according to the Solomon four-group design. It failed, because the sample size was inadequate. The research design consisted of an experimental group that had completed the training course and was pretested and posttested, a control group that had completed a course and was posttested, and another control group that was tested once. The nonverbal test of the Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking was used to determine the training results. The inter-rater reliability of the test was confirmed. The results of this study suggested that the sex and qualifications of the subjects were nonsignificant. However, subjects who rated poorly before training benefited most by training. The research hypothesis which stated that training in creative ability will lead to improvement of creative ability, was confirmed / Psychology / M.A. (Sielkunde)

Framework to assist organisations with information technology adoption governance

Jokonya, Osden 03 1900 (has links)
The evidence from the literature suggests that Information Technology adoption (IT) governance in organisations is still a challenge. The diversity of application and the ever-increasing use of IT results in making decisions on IT adoption a major challenge for organisations. The decision about using a particular technology from an organisational perspective is problematic since individual users have different worldviews. The implicit assumption in IT adoption literature is that stakeholders always reach consensus during IT adoption decision making in organisations. This study explored the existing models and frameworks in order to develop a preliminary improved IT adoption governance framework. This study used a case study sequential explanatory mixed methods research approach to validate the preliminary IT adoption governance framework. The first validation phase of the framework was done using a quantitative approach followed by the second validation phase based on qualitative interviews. The last validation was done after integrating the quantitative and qualitative results to produce the refined framework. The results suggest that the developed framework may improve IT adoption governance in organisations. The results showed that the framework components facilitate IT adoption governance in organisations. The results also suggest that the components have an association with each other except for the Technology Acceptance Model component. The results indicate that stakeholder participation and hard systems thinking components have a strong predictive impact on IT governance framework component perception in organisations. The study results suggest that IT adoption decision makers need to balance different stakeholders’ demands during IT adoption decision making in organisations. The framework helps in that regard by reconciling different stakeholders’ demands through collective IT adoption decision making. The strength of the framework is its integration of theories from various disciplines in understanding stakeholder expectations. On that basis the framework is in a better position to offer more insight into understanding challenges of IT adoption decision making than existing frameworks and models. The framework offers a potentially valuable basis for future research in IT adoption decision making in organisations. The results suggest that the framework may facilitate IT adoption in organisations using different components. / Information Science / D. Litt. et Phil. (Information systems)

Prates, Adriana Pedrassa January 2013 (has links)
This dissertation articulates in the different areas: Education, Art and Philosophy. It is product of the artistagens of thought in conceptual and artistic writing exercises, and so as the drawing. Everything happens for a need: the deciphered. Affected by forces that she does not know, a teacher sees rising, like giants, five pure pictorial and sounded expressions - visions stopped in time and space - in different parts of the school, becoming it unrecognizable. Stranging the other - teachers, students, classes - it is the teacher herself who, however, strange, her own space-time that is violentelly invaded. Nevertheless, the effort that moves does not follow in an attempt to a (re)find or to a (re)find itself as something, beforehand, it is already given, in the contrary. The thought, expelled from its alleged accommodation, is launched on an involuntary adventure that makes, in the encounter with the visions suffer, the way an artist works, it fights to rip for each one of the percepts and affects, so, the Figure, how a sensitively form of the sensation, concept that takes as vital. In simultaneous’ destruction and creation that engenders, the dissertation appears, especially with Deleuze, but also with Nietzsche, Foucault, Proust, Valéry, Guattari, Bergson, Blanchot, Barthes, the painter Francis Bacon and many other beloved, as the exercise of an eternal come into being - infinded becomes happened by the constitution of a process of sensibility that, while release aesthetic in the existence, sets to think of thought. The agenciaments that result from it, come as the traced intensities fully involved with the production of new ways of life. The importance that it shows is the same that may say about the need for contact from the people with the art, or, what is indispensable to say, from the students with art, in the schools.

Aprendizagem do pensamento computacional e desenvolvimento do raciocínio

Boucinha, Rafael Marimon January 2017 (has links)
This thesis describes a quasi-experimental study aimed to investigate a relationship between the construction of Computational Thinking and the development of students' reasoning in Middle School. A research was carried out during a course about Games Development, offered in two private schools in Porto Alegre, with 50 students. The proposed teaching-learning practice was built on the theoretical assumptions of meaningful learning and experiential learning. Both, Computational Thinking and reasoning, of the students were measured before and after the course, using a Computational Thinking Test and a set of reasoning evidence tests (BPR-5). The statistical analysis of the data showed an increase in Computational Thinking, as well as Verbal Reasoning, Abstract Reasoning and Mechanical Reasoning of the students participating in the experiment. There was also a positive observation between Computational Thinking and the five types of reasoning. The results of this study demonstrate how the construction of Computational Thinking contributes to the cognitive development of students and presents a pedagogical proposal that can serve as a reference for new studies in the area.
