Pohled společnosti na děti z kojeneckých ústavů a dětských domovů / Societal perception of children raised in infants´nursing homes and children´s homes

ŠEVČÍKOVÁ, Zuzana January 2007 (has links)
My diploma thesis titled Societal perception of children raised in infants nursing homes and children homes is research focused. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part in its first chapter addresses infant institutes. The second chapter deals with children homes their categorization and covers the disadvantages of children{\crq}s homes. The following chapter is concentrated on the associations that provide help to the children from children's homes. Further, we mention the Instruction of the Ministry of Health for running of the infant institutes and children's homes for children under three years of age. Furthermore, attention is focused at groups of children that are placed in constitutional care, their characteristics and the arguments for their placing in the constitutional care. In the next part, the roles of representatives of children, inanition syndrome information, aims and purposes of the constitutional care, living conditions in these institutions and the volunteers providing help to children in such circumstances are mentioned. Next chapters discuss the existing care types of forsaken children and spare-family care system problems. Later, the constitutional care in the Czech Republic is compared to the Great Britain model. At the end of the theoretical part, we analyze the options of further dwelling and integration of the individuals. The target of this work was to determine the perception of the children from infant institutes and children{\crq}s homes by the society. In our hypotheses we anticipated that the society does not sufficient information regarding the children from infant institutes and the children's homes and that male and female opinion are different. We assumed in our other hypothesis that the society anticipates that these children are future delinquents and that the opinion of younger people were different from those of older people. We used a method of questionnaire to confirm or reject the determined hypotheses. The questionnaire consists of 19 questions. 120 questionnaires were distributed with a 100% return rate. Conclusion of the thesis comprises findings from both the theoretical and practical parts.

Anhörigas upplevelser av vård i livets slutskede på särskilt boende : En litteraturstudie / Relatives' experience of care in the final stages of life in nursing homes

Tång, Anna-Maria January 2018 (has links)
Litteraturstudien genomfördes under våren 2018. / Purpose: The purpose of this literature study was to describe the relatives experience of care in the final stages of life in nursing homes. Faktorer av betydelse i omvårdnaden av äldre personer med depression – En litteraturöversikt / Factors of importance when caring for elderly people with depression – A literature review

Jansson, Alva, Ekman, Emma January 2018 (has links)
Background: The prevalence of depression among elderly people is about three times higher for those living in nursing homes compared to those living in their own homes. Self-stigma, loneliness and culture among older adults with mental illness residing in nursing homes

Tzouvara, Vasiliki January 2015 (has links)
This study aimed to investigate the inter-relationships between self-stigma, loneliness, and culture among older adults with mental illness residing in nursing homes. This study also explored how this population experiences self-stigma and loneliness within the context of their cultural backgrounds. A mixed-methods approach was utilised. The first phase involved a quantitative face-to-face questionnaire survey (n=16). More than half of the study participants reported low levels of self-stigma (56.3%), yet a substantial number of them scored high on the self-stigma scale (43.8%). The analysis identified a statistical relationship between stereotype endorsement and marital status (sig. =.010). No relationship was identified between Internalised Stigma of Mental illness constructs (ISMI) and age, gender, religiousness, and educational level. Loneliness was identified to be prevalent among more than half of the sample (68.8%). There was also a positive correlation between loneliness, age (sig.=.062) and religiosity (sig.=.044). The second phase involved a qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological approach involving one-to-one semi-structured interviews (n=10). Seven themes emerged: ‘social loneliness’, ‘emotional loneliness’, ‘emotional reactions’, ‘coping mechanisms’, ‘insight into illness’, ‘understanding and view towards mental illness’, and ‘behavioural reactions’. Overall, the qualitative findings supported the quantitative results but also revealed additional theoretical and conceptual insight. Most participants were collectivistic-oriented, and most experienced both social and emotional loneliness. The degree of insight into mental illness played a key role in how self-stigma was experienced, while gender and culture were found to influence how loneliness was experienced. Based on the results of both phases, a new theoretical framework is posited that explains the relationships between the concepts of loneliness and self-stigma among this population. The study also evidences and discusses a wide range of methodological issues associated with the successful recruitment of nursing homes in older adult research.
