Poddradio på folkbibliotek : En innehållsanalytisk jämförande fallstudie av pionjärexemplen Cirkelpodden och Bibliotekspodden Solen 2013–2014 / Podcasting in Swedish public libraries : A comparativemultiple case-study exploring groundbreakingexamples of the library podcasts Cirkelpodden andBibliotekspodden Solen 2013–2014

Österlund, Lisa January 2015 (has links)
This thesis aims to describe the genre of librarypodcasts that have emerged in Sweden since 2013.Through the overall design of a comparative multiplecasestudy, the two pioneering examples ofCirkelpodden and Bibliotekspodden Solen are beingdescribed and compared, in order to contribute to abetter understanding of what these radio productionsconsist of, on what reasons they have been establishedand finally what this practice based on more explicitjournalistic working methods might implicate for theprofession of the public librarian.Thirty-three programs of Cirkelpodden andBibliotekspodden Solen published during 2103–2014 andtwo semi-structured interviews with the librarians ofthe podcasts are analysed through quantitative contentanalysis and qualitative thematic analysis. Thetheoretical framework is principally based on WiebeBijker’s model of two different ways to perceivetechnology: the deterministic view as an autonomousforce, and the constructivist view as an instrumentcontrolled by man.The results show that the main reasons to adopt thisweb 2.0 media format was to improve the library’straditional ways to talk about books. Besidespresenting books and problematizing the inhold of it,the podcasts were used to enhance the job satisfactionand to promote the library. The main conclusion ofthe study is that the these library podcasts could beinterpreted as expressions of an ongoing movementfrom a traditional conveying role of the publiclibrarian, towards a more content producing role, inwhich the podcast is used as an strategic instrumentfor exposing the librarians expertise and for exertingliterary criticism.

Do people actually listen to ads in podcasts? : A study about how machine learning can be used to gain insight in listening behaviour

Hane, Sara, Angergård, Madeleine January 2019 (has links)
Today, listening to podcasts is a common way of consuming media and it has been proven that listeners are much more recipient to advertisement when being addressed in a podcast, rather than through radio. This study has been performed at Acast, an audio-on-demand and podcast platform that hosts, monetizes, and distributes podcasts globally. With the use of machine learning, the goal of this study has been to obtain a credible estimate of how listeners outside the application tend to respond when exposed to ads in podcasts. The study includes a number of different machine learning models, such as Random Forest, Logistic Regression, Neural Networks and kNN. It was shown that machine learning could be applied to obtain a credible estimate of how ads are received outside the Acast application, based on data collected from the application. Additionally, out of the models included in the study, Random Forest was proven being the best performing model for this problem. Please note that the results presented in the report are based on a mix of real and simulated data.

Tre berättelser och ett mord : En kvalitativ innehållsanalys om hur tre podcasts gestaltar Sturebymordet / Three stories and one murder : A qualitative study about how three podcasts portray the murder in Stureby

Arturén, Frida, Brandin, Johanna January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate how the same murder case is being portrayedin three of Swedens biggest true crime podcasts; P3 Dokumentär, True Crime Sweden and Mordpodden. The case that has been studied is the murder of 15 year old Therese Johansson Rojo who was killed in June 2009. She was found dead in a forest in Stureby, Stockholm in Sweden and later on a 16 year old boy and his 16 year old girlfriend got arrested for the murder. Both of them were found guilty, the boy for murder and the girl for conspiracy to commit murder. The study examined similarities and differences in how the three main characters are described in the different podcasts and how gender is being represented. To achieve valid and reliable arguments and results, we have supported our statements in theories and previous research related to crime, gender and framing inmedia. The method that has been used in this study is a qualitative study including toolsas lexicality, modality and rhetoric. The analysis is divided in three parts, one for each main character and with two themes for each part, how their looks and personality are described in the different podcasts. The analysis showed that all three podcasts portray the main characters in similar ways. There is a lot of focus on the looks of the victim, Therese who is being portrayed as a stereotypic girl. She is also described as the ideal victim as a young and innocent girl. The mainly focus is however, especially in Mordpodden and in True crime Sweden, on the 16 year old girl and 16 year old boy and their relationship with each other. The boy and the girl are being described with dichotomies and are not portrayed, unlike Therese, as typical gender stereotypes. The 16 year old girl is mostly described as controlling and the boy is often described as an innocent victim. This means that the girl is being portrayed as masculine and the boy as feminin. By describing Thereseas the ideal victim and the perpetrators based on dichotomies, the podcasts create gender, based on Fagerström and Nilssons (2008) theory about how gender is being created.

Musikaliska porträtt av Alex & Sigge : - om att skriva musik till podcast-segment / Musical portrait of Alex & Sigge : - about writing music to podcast segments.

Jennersjö, Benjamin January 2019 (has links)

Bergström, Elin, Smideland, Amanda January 2019 (has links)

My Gothic dissertation: a podcast

Williams, Anna 01 January 2019 (has links)
In My Gothic Dissertation, I perform an intertextual analysis of Gothic fiction and modern-day graduate education in the humanities. First, looking particularly at the Female Gothic, I argue that the genre contains overlooked educational themes. I read the student-teacher relationships in Ann Radcliffe’s The Mysteries of Udolpho (1794), Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1818, 1831), and Charlotte Brontë’s Villette (1853) as critiques of the insidious relationship between knowledge and power. Part literary critic and part literary journalist, I weave through these readings reports of real-life ‘horror stories’ of graduate school, arguing that the power imbalance between Ph.D. advisors and their students can be unexpectedly ‘Gothic’ as well. Drawing on research from the science of learning—developmental psychology, sociology, and pedagogical theory—I advocate for more a student-centered pedagogy in humanities Ph.D. training. Following in the footsteps of A.D. Carson and Nick Sousanis, I have produced My Gothic Dissertation in a nontraditional format—the podcast. Mixing voice, music, and sound, I dramatize scenes from the novels and incorporate analysis through my narration. The real-life “Grad School Gothic” stories are drawn from personal interviews. Much of the science of learning is drawn from personal interviews with researchers as well, though some material comes from recorded presentations that have been posted to public, online venues such as YouTube. The creative/journalistic style of reporting is heavily influenced by programs such as This American Life, Invisibilia, and Serial, with the dual aims of engaging a broad audience and expanding our modes of scholarly communication beyond the page.

Connecting the Old with the New: Developing a Podcast Usability Heuristic from the Canons of Rhetoric

Wolfram, Laurissa J 07 May 2011 (has links)
Though a relatively new form of communication technology, the podcast serves as a remediated form of the classical orator—merging the classical practices of oration with current methods of production and delivery. This study draws connections from the historical five canons of rhetoric and current usability studies to build a heuristic for developing and evaluating usable podcast design.

A Study of Web 2.0 Innovations for Government Services Online

Wang, Ji-Jia 23 July 2008 (has links)
Since 1993 The US government took the lead to propose the ¡§National Information Infrastructure, (NII)¡¨ plan, many countries started to establish the electronic government to provide the populace with innovation services.. The services of electronic government have to evolve from ¡§Do Government Better¡¨ into ¡§Do Better Government¡¨. Now the network has evolved into a new generation that emphasizes on users co-constructing the cyber contents - Web 2.0. Could Web 2.0 be applied to the web services of the electronic government? How should the electronic government provide the innovation services by using Web 2.0? What are the Web 2.0 services provided by the local government in Taiwan? The above questions are the key points of this research. This research was based on the web service type of government and the mature application of Web 2.0 to establish 4 categories (Blog, Instant Messaging, Podcast and RSS) and 17 indicators to construct questionnaire, and review local government web services in Taiwan. This research used the census method to observe 25 local government website by the researcher during 2008/4/7~2008/4/9. Also the all 25 local government website administrators in Taiwan completed the questionnaire separately during 2008/4/21~2008/5/13. According to the research results, that Web 2.0 services on Taiwan local government were: (1) the primary service provided by local government is automatic information service, (2) the online multimedia playing service is getting mature gradually, (3) the web call is the main online intercommunication service, (4) the concepts of blog service has not established yet, (5)there are many problems to surmount for advancing Web 2.0 Services, such as the definitions of Web 2.0 Services, the doubts of information security etc.. Overall, Web 2.0 for local government online services is still at beginning stage in Taiwan. Besides this research provides the following suggestions about Web 2.0 innovations for government services online: (1) to establish the better understanding of Web 2.0 Services, (2) to develop guidelines of Web 2.0 services and evaluation criteria, (3) to provide financial motivation and technical support.
