Presenças de Orfeu / Presences of OrfeuMaria Claudete de Souza Oliveira 09 March 2007 (has links)
Myths are giving back to mankind their own conflicts. As metaphor \"they play their role\" to talk \"to the deep levels of mankind\". As time goes by, these language figures can loose their absorption capacity but artists \"in accordance with their disciplines and arts\" are reviving them \"in the contemporary context of experience\". Starting from this observation, an analysis and a comparison of the following works are done : \"Legado\" & \"Canto orfico\", poems from Carlos Drummond de Andrade, \"Orfeu da conceiçao, a Carioca tragedy\" from Vinícius de Moraes and two movies \"Orfeu Negro\" from Marcel Camus & \"Orfeu do Carnaval\" from Carlos Diegues. The first impression in Vinícius- Orfeo is that he promotes or wants to promote the Dionisyac dissolution of differences suggested by the singer on the \"morro\": Orfeu da Concecao. This first impression is different in Drummond\'s Orfeo who defines himself and defines what he sees as closer perhaps to the Apollinic character of the myth. But getting closer to Orfeu\'s remake one can observe the Drummond Dionisyac expression as well as the Appolinic expression of Vinícius inverting the first impression but keeping in both the ethical feeling in front of the indifferent world to myth and the belief in the value of poetry and songs. The presence of Orfeu in the movies of Marcel Camus and Carlos Diegues which as in the play are bringing up to date the myth in a \"favela\", during the same decade of the play and forty years later respectively, are confirming the capacity of songs and art to transform \"agony in elegy\" as Carlos Drummond de Andrade and Vinícius de Moraes did with their works

Alexander Scriabin (1871-1915): Piano Miniature as Chronicle of his Creative Evolution; Complexity of Interpretive Approach and its Implications.Sukhina, Nataliya 05 1900 (has links)
Scriabin's piano miniatures are ideal for the study of evolution of his style, which underwent an extreme transformation. They present heavily concentrated idioms and structural procedures within concise form, therefore making it more accessible to grasp the quintessence of the composer's thought. A plethora of studies often reviews isolated genres or periods of Scriabin's legacy, making it impossible to reveal important general tendencies and inner relationships between his pieces. While expanding the boundaries of tonality, Scriabin completed the expansion and universalization of the piano miniature genre. Starting from his middle years the 'poem' characteristics can be found in nearly every piece. The key to this process lies in Scriabin's compilation of certain symbolical musical gestures. Separation between technical means and poetic intention of Scriabin's works as well as rejection of his metaphysical thought evolution result in serious interpretive implications. Music of Scriabin provides an excellent opportunity for a performer to find a proper balance between rational and intuitive. The lack of any of these qualities will impoverish his works, making their interpretation incomplete. Following one of main Scriabin's ideas - synthesis of all arts - this study approaches his music not from the narrow analytical, but broad synthetic standpoint. The suggested solution is an informed performance, based on Heinrich Neuhaus's teaching method that encompassed all arts. 'Cross-art' comparative analysis justifies the composer's artistic searches and highlights significance of his ideas, which disclose a strong correlation with the characteristic features of the creative faculty, the nature of music and its synergetic aspects.

Akustická analýza přednesu básně u pacientů s Parkinsonovou nemocí / Acoustic analysis of poem recitation in patients with Parkinson's diseaseMucha, Ján January 2016 (has links)
Diploma thesis is focused on the acoustic analysis of poetry recitation in patients with Parkinson's disease. This disease is associated with speech disorder called hypokinetic dysarthria. One objective of this thesis was familiarization with process, symptoms and treatment of these diseases. In thesis is described preprocessing and parametrization of the speech signal and the binary classification methods. Subsequently, it is the above proposal modular system of auto-diagnosis of Parkinson's disease based on acoustic analysis of the speech. The proposed system is implemented in MATLAB. Classification of calculated parameters is realized using the method of Random forest and Support vector machine. The results of these methods are compared and listed in the thesis. The main objective and the result of this thesis is a system of automatic diagnosis of Parkinson's disease based on acoustic analysis of the poem recitation.

"Place of effective management" - a South Africa perspectiveJonker, Janien 25 July 2013 (has links)
The comments submitted by The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (hereinafter referred to as “SAICA”) to the Discussion Paper issued by the South African Revenue Service (hereinafter referred to as “SARS”) in respect of Interpretation Note 61, included the following important introductory comments: “We heartily welcome and endorse the revised approach, which brings the South African interpretation closer to international norm. South Africa is too small an economy in the world to be out of step with the general consensus view, including the views of our main treaty partners (who are mainly OECD members). It also reduces the prospect of having to resort to a mutual agreement procedure; not to mention reducing the likelihood of litigation in the South African courts.” South Africa‟s approach to the determination of a legal person‟s “place of effective management” (hereinafter referred to as “POEM”) differs from the international approach and has resulted not only in adverse tax implications, but also in a lot of uncertainty for various taxpayers. / Dissertation (LLM)--University of Pretoria, 2013. / Mercantile Law / unrestricted

Básník a textař Karel Kryl / Poet and song text writer Karel KrylRejzková, Lenka January 2011 (has links)
102 17 Abstract The presented work deals with the strong personality of Czech folk music - Karel Kryl. It investigates the differences in the poetry of his lyrics and poems, and its development in the years 1968 - 1989. The first chapters outlines the situation since the sixties of the 20th century around the sung poetry and songsters to the present. Karel Kryl is compared with the Czech singer, he differed from them not only his work, but also his live, beliefs and appearance. His poetics is developed over twenty years, both in songs and in poems. This period is divided into four stages at the songs, according to which they are assigned to each of poetry collections. Vergleich der peroralen endoskopischen Myotomie (POEM) und der laparoskopischen Heller Myotomie (LHM) in der Therapie der primär idiopathischen Achalasie und anderer Ösophagusmotilitätsstörungen / Comparison of peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) and laparoscopic Heller myotomy (LHM) in the therapy of primary idiopathic achalasia and other esophageal motility disordersAl-Nasser, Mohammed Mohammed Ali January 2020 (has links) (PDF)
This article reports on the objective comparison of the short and long-term results obtained with the laparoscopic Heller myotomy plus Dor fundoplication (LHM + Dor) and per-oral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) at a single institution and on the development of a " tailored approach". The laparoscopic Heller Myotomy (LHM) is currently considered the standard procedure for the treatment of achalasia. Peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) offers a new alternative to Heller myotomy by endoscopic and natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES).
We report on our unselected consecutive patient series (n = 238) who underwent either an LHM + Dor procedure (n = 100) or POEM surgery (n = 138) between 2009 and 2017.
There were no differences in treatment success (Eckardt-Score ≤ 3) after 3 - 6 months (LHM: 90.1% vs. POEM: 90.5%; p = 0.735), 12 months (LHM 84.4% vs.POEM 84.0%; p = 0.766 and> 2 years (LHM 81.1% vs. POEM 79.2%; p = 0.432). The improvement of quality of life (GIQLI-Score) and patient satisfaction were also comparably good (~ 90%) in both groups and at all times of follow-up. Reflux rates are also similar (heartburn LHM: 32.9% vs. POEM: 30.1%; esophagitis LHM: 16.3% vs. POEM: 14.6%; PPI uptake 21.2% vs. 32.5%, pathological pH meter-LHM: 8.8% vs. POEM: 23.3%) without significance of the differences.
The "tailored approach for choosing the procedure POEM vs. LHM" might be appropriate and should be further investigated in further studies.
