Ciúme patológico masculino: reflexões sob a ótica junguiana

Centeville, Valéria 16 May 2008 (has links)
Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-28T20:39:47Z (GMT). No. of bitstreams: 1 Valeria Centeville.pdf: 701630 bytes, checksum: 508304e1068914f119683f946807007b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2008-05-16 / The objectives of this study are to comprehend how male pathological jealousy expresses itself in a patriarchal culture and also to understand psychological aspects involved in the dynamics of such disturbance, especially the emotional complexes. The bibliographical research has revealed the existence of many essays linking male jealousy to violence against women particularly in a domestic context. Definitions of jealousy from important authors such as Adler (1967), Alberoni (1988), Freud (1976), Klein and Riviere (1975) and the American Psychiatric Association s DSM-IV - Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (1994) have been researched. Books and articles of Jungian and neo-Jungian scholars were also examined, only to find Carlos Byington (2006), the creator of the Symbolic Psychology, description of jealousy. Still based on this theoretical approach to male pathological jealousy I came across Grinberg s essay (2000). In the last stages of the bibliographical research specific attention was given to how the term jealousy was accounted for throughout Carl Gustav Jung s work. To illustrate such a condition certain films were considered and selected, Claude Chabrol´s 1994 production L enfer being the most representative. It was interpreted based on Jung s Analytical Psychology and on the information pertaining to the patriarchal culture. Allowing us to conclude that the characteristics and emotions most commonly associated with the male pathological jealously are: power and possession, the desire for dominion over the loved one, love and rivalry, fear of loss, exclusive love and feelings of inferiority; the inability to surmount the Oedipus complex as a structure, the presence of a maternal and/or paternal complex, the repression of the feminine principle and the resulting psychic disequilibrium are the constituent factors associated with the male pathological jealousy. This kind of affection is generally related to paranoia. I propose to consider the hypothesis that culture and patriarchal values, when unilateral, intensify pathological jealousy since what s most revealing of the psychotic jealous extreme behavior is precisely the need to control others and maintain dominance over them / Os objetivos deste estudo são: compreender como o ciúme patológico masculino se expressa na cultura patriarcal e entender os aspectos psicológicos envolvidos na dinâmica do ciúme patológico, especialmente os complexos.

Violence against women in Serbian newspapers : The analysis of the print media reports on violence against women in Serbia [Kurir, Blic, Vecernje Novosti, Politika, Danas]

Rakić, Anja January 2018 (has links)
The problem of violence against women in Serbia is connected with the position that women hold inside of the discourse of family and society in general. Also, the general atmosphere in media implies the lack of media freedom, specific structural organization, and ownership relations in media companies. From this starting point, this paper investigates how different newspapers in Serbia are reporting about violence against women. This study outlines the most common topics and social actors that are represented inside of the articles. The analysis is divided in two parts. A content analysis of the five different newspapers in Serbia (Kurir, Blic, Vecernje Novosti, Politika and Danas) and critical discourse analysis of the most relevant articles inside of those. Part of the study is devoted to identify how these articles are most commonly framed among the chosen newspapers. Another part of the study looks at the comparison of the newspapers, with special emphasis on the social actors and the way they are represented among the articles. Results showed that newspapers report on violence against women differently when it comes to the category of frame. Most commonly used frame among overall sample is human interest frame which implies reports connected to the individual cases of violence against women that often generate feelings of outrage, empathy, caring, sympathy, or compassion. The background of the cases is almost in all of the articles used to portray the human-interest perspective. The reports are somewhat similar when it comes to the way how social actors are represented in the articles. For example, in the analyzed articles it is most often that the victims are presented as passive agents. The discourse of guilt around the social actors is often shared between the perpetrator and the victim. According to the latest statistics, eight women were killed during the first 58 days of 2018. Thus, practical implication of this study is to potentially point out more and less effective ways for Serbian news media to approach this serious social issue in the future.

Undoing Big Daddy Art: Subverting the Fathers of Western Art Through a Metaphorical and Mythological Father/Daughter Relationship

Batorowicz, Beata Agnieszka, n/a January 2004 (has links)
The canon of Western art history provides a selection of artists that have supposedly made an 'original' contribution to stylistic innovation within the visual arts. Although a process of selection cannot be avoided, this procedure has resulted in a Eurocentric and patriarchal art canon. For example, the Western art canon consists of certain white male artists who are given exclusive authority and are often referred to as the 'fathers of art'. As the status of a 'father of art' pertains to the highest level of achievement within artistic creativity, I argue that this excellence in creativity is based on a gender specific criteria. This issue refers to the patrilineage within Western art history and how this father-son model, in a general sense, excludes women artists from the canon. Further, the very few women included in the art canon are not given the equivalent status as a 'father of art'. I address this patriarchal bias through focussing on the father/daughter relationship as a way of challenging the patrilineage within Western art history’s patrilineage. Through this process of intervention, I position the daughter an assertive figure who directly confronts the fathers of Western art. Within this confrontation, I emphasise that the daughter has an assertive identity that is also beyond the father. On this premise my paper is based on the argument that the application of a father/daughter model, within a metaphorical and mythological sense, is useful in subverting the father figures within Western art history. That is, I construct myself as the metaphorical and mythological daughter of the Dada artist, Marcel Duchamp and the Fluxus artist, Joseph Beuys. As an assertive daughter, I insert myself into the patriarchal framework surrounding these two canonical figures in order to decentre and subvert their authority and phallocentric art practice. It is important to note that both Duchamp and Beuys are addressed as case studies (not as individual arguments) that illustrate the patriarchal constructs of the art canon. Within this premise, I draw upon the female artists Sherrie Levine and Jana Sterbak who directly subvert Western father figures as examples of assertive daughter identities. Within this exploration of the assertive daughter identity, I discuss feminist psychoanalysis (particularly the 'object relations' theorist Nancy Chodorow and the French feminist, Luce Irigaray) in order to offer metaphorical representations of the assertive daughter. These metaphors also assist in subverting the gender (male) specific criteria for creativity under the 'law of the father'.

Professionella patriarker : Svenska storföretagsledares ideal, praktik och professionaliseringsprocess 1910-1945

Matti, Tomas January 2006 (has links)

Much is assumed about the professionalisation of managers, but the subject has been little studied within the social sciences. Did it take place and if so, how did it happen? Previous studies suggest that the managers in Swedish industries were professionalised after the Second World War, without, however, thoroughly investigating this claim. To be able to study the professionalisation process of managers, this thesis argues that it is necessary to look at both the ideals and the practice of management. This thesis constructs two different management ideals: the patriarchal ideal and the professional ideal, which are then joined together in a model. The model is then used to interpret the management behaviour of Swedish managers in 1910-1945.

The results of this thesis show that the professionalisation process of managers was not a strict process forward. The ideals were relatively easy to change from a patriarchal ideal to a professional ideal. But the practice of management could be patriarchal as well as professional, depending on the situation and the context. One explanation for this is that the managers could not always live up to the professional ideal. Instead they reverted to the system of personal trust and its loyalties in line with the patriarchal ideal. Therefore the professionalisation process of managers was not as successful as it might have been.

Unga mäns perspektiv på heder och hedernormer - en kvalitativ studie / Young men´s perspective concerning honour and honour-norms. A qualitative study

Andersson, Asiye, Mehvar, Mino January 2010 (has links)
The honour norm is strong within the Middle East but is scattered all over the world. As a result of immigration, the honorary context has become more established in Sweden. Violence, committed in the name of honour, is commonly executed by male family members. Thus, young men are forced, in some degree, to participate in the oppression and control of their sisters. Violence exercised in the name of honour, can be traced back to the patriarchal family system in which woman are subordinate to men. The purpose of this study is to highlight the young men's subjective perspective to honour and honour-related violence, as well as if they have managed to distance themselves from it. In the study, interviews are conducted with four young men. The results obtained show that some of the young men have an ambivalent attitude to certain matters relating to honour and what is not acceptable female behaviour. The results reveal that certain parts of the patriarchal thinking are identified in the opinions of some of the young men interviewed. Further, the results also suggest that education and community action are essential for the discussion of honour and the honour norm, in order to create change.
