A arte de esgrimir no vazio: normal, anormal e patológico na poesia de Adília Lopes / The art of fencing in the void: the normal, abnormal and pathologic in the Adília Lopes poetry

Lilian Honda 26 September 2018 (has links)
The issue of psychic suffering is a recurrent theme in Adília Lopes\' artwork, arising in the form of allusions to psychopathology, medications, names of doctors and psychotherapists, and references to the history of mental illness treatment, as well as hospital facilities and their patients. This article aims to analyze the representations of the subject in Adilian poetry, evidencing the critical point of view in relation to the excessive social normalization prevailing in contemporaneity and in scientism, which underlie the medicalization of behaviors. The theoretical reference is based on the concepts of normality and pathology established by Georges Canguilhem, his articulation with Michel Foucault\'s concept of biopower, and the implication of normalizing procedures in the emergence of depression paradigm according to Elizabeth Roudinesco\'s conception.

Leonardo de Atayde Pereira 16 November 2009 (has links)
Um dos maiores exemplos de sua literatura e da unidade temática representada pela sua obra é o romance histórico Eurico, O Presbítero, analisado no presente trabalho / Alexandre Herculano is considered one of the introducers and one of the best illustrions representatives of Romanticism in Portugal. His work, fragmented by jornalistic, literary and historiographic productions, demonstrates a great unit, able to join a large investigation tradition about political, social and cultural problems from his country. A Prymera parte da cronica do emperador Clarimundo donde os Reys de Portugal desçendem: Retórica e ensinamento moral na crônica de João de Barros / The Prymera parte da cronica do emperador Clarimundo donde os reys de Portugal descendem: rhetoric and moral teaching in João de Barros\' chronicle

Flávio Antônio Fernandes Reis 11 April 2013 (has links)
The Prymera parte da cronica do emperador Clarimundo donde os reys de Portugal desçendem, written by a noble from the court of D. Manuel I and D. João III, called João de Barros, and published by Germão de Galharde in 1522, is composed of three unfinished books, named first part, in accordance with the topoi of knightly narratives. The panegyric genealogy proposed by the Clarimundo highlights this text in the context of Portuguese letters, and specifies it as a chronicle containing the narrative of where the Kings of Portugal descend from. It\'s material was up till then uncommon in the Iberian letters, but imitated from antique sources, particularly the Eneid, by Virgil, and Orlando Furioso, by Ariosto, a eulogy of the Casa d\'Este. In this sense, João de Barros\' painting allegorizes, in the figure of Clarimundo, the prince from whose lineage descend the Portuguese kings, and this is the occasion for being both a mirrored images, and an exemplary models of regal excellency. This work aims to analyze the rhetorical and poetical procedures at work in the epideictic discourse of João de Barros\' chronicle, to the end of delectation, teaching and moving. In order to do this, I have kept to the text, nearing it to the categories with which it is verisimilar, and distancing it from obvious solutions and easy schemes.

This study will be based on the theory of the double and the fantastic applied in the process of the narrative construction. An investigation of the role of the first-person narrator in this novel is also aimed at, because, in this narrative, he is presented as trustworthy, but narrates his own story revealing a questionable memory. Concerning the theory of the double, this work will be analyzed based, mainly, on Otto Rank s and Freud s theories, and relating to the fantastic, the support will come from Todorov s conceptions. The double theme appears in the narrative especially in the creation of an unexpected love triangle, composed by Lúcio, Ricardo and his enigmatic wife (Ricardo s supposedly double), which makes it possible for the reader to have more than one strange understanding of the adventure experienced and narrated by Lúcio.

This are intertwined other goals as: Understanding the relation between literature and history; as it is a novel of historical nature, and mainly historiographical metafiction; and as the historical aspect is addressed in Saramago´s work The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis. Thus, taking into consideration that the object contained two kinds of knowledge, literary and historical, research shows interdisciplinarity as research methodology. Thus, with regard to methodology, this research includes a qualitative and interdisciplinary literature. In this sense, the work begins with the presentation of the concept of grounded interdisciplinary mainly Pombo (2008) and Casanova (2006). Then discusses the relationship between literature and history showing that both are close and the first, and the second, also presents a perspective on the past, this reflection will be based on the approaches of Lenhardt and Pesavento (1998) and Hayden White (1994). Then, in the second chapter we study the historical nature of novels from Lukacs's approach (2011) and historiographical metafiction Linda Hutcheon (1991). This route provides a better analysis of the work The Year of the Death of Ricardo Reis, written by José Saramago, in the third chapter, which is historiographical metafiction, proposes a historical and critical perspective of the 1936 European in order to illustrate how the literature looks to the past. In this analysis of the historicity of the work, it is observed mainly three elements: the omniscient narrator intrusive, the character Ricardo Reis - fruit of intertextuality with Fernando Pessoa - and intertextuality with the news from newspapers of the time. Thus, it seeks to make clear that the literature as well as history, can contribute to the vision that one has of the past.

Olhares descentrados na contemporaneidade: os anormais em Gonçalo M. Tavares e Lídia Jorge / Decentralized perspectives on contemporaneity: the abnormals in Gonçalo M. Tavares and Lídia Jorge fiction

Hampel, Juliana Florentino 04 August 2017 (has links)
This work discusses the voices of creativity imagination by perspectives of abnormality in two Portuguese contemporary novels: Jerusalém, by Gonçalo M. Tavares and O vento assobiando nas gruas, by Lídia Jorge. By making a comparison between the path of protagonists, Mylia Busbeck and Milene Leandro, the aim of this thesis is to indicate the power of scientific discourses as maximum parameter of mental health evaluation and, thus, checking incidence of a devastating power in the life of these two characters that intend to a dehumanization. As a theoretical support, Michel Foucault and his essays about discourse and insanity are necessary to understand the pattern of abnormalitys speeches. Also the philosophical work of Nietzsche is relevant to think about language as an act of force, with the proposal of reveal the task of literature to find expression of multiple become. Furthermore, Emmanuel Lévinas and his philosophy of affection as a possibility of ethic exercise is the bases to follow the minimum instants of sanity in the plot of both novels.

An intertextual analysis of the piece What will I do with this Book?, by José Saramago

Santos, Cybele Regina Melo dos 05 October 2018 (has links)
This present study consisted in the analysis and critical interpretation of the theatrical text What will I do with this Book? (1980), written by Portuguese writer José Saramago, being possible to establish a intertextual relation with the epic work Os Lusíadas (1572), by Luís de Camões. With this piece, Saramago proposes to his readers a vision of the historical and political moment of Portugal in the 16th century, making possible to analyze the social, cultural and economical issues at the time. Among the issues, we studied the role of the censorship and of the editorial market for the Portuguese literature and the influence of the black plague in Lisbon inhabitants life. Another point of analysis of this research was to identify how was the reception of the literary work Os Lusíadas in the society of that time, mainly due to the difficulties found by the main character Camões to obtain concession to publish it. The approach of the inquisitorial censorship (16th century) with the dictatorial (of the 20th century) in Portugal, was also an aspect of deepening of our survey. The research was structured in a bibliographical revision with the reading of works and texts which dealt with relevant matters to the theme. From a cutting of the piece we searched for some titles of the history, the theater and the Portuguese literature, besides the critical theory, relating with other works by Saramago. The analysis of the material of our research led us to consider that, besides the financial aspect, the censorship was one of the main difficulties faced by Camões. When we make a parallel with the 20th century, we realize that the censorship also caused upsets for several writers and Portuguese playwrights. The characters that compose the piece are constituted of significant historical figures for the 19th century Portuguese history, standing out Damião de Góis, Diogo do Couto and Priest Bartolomeu Ferreira, being present also in the protagonists life. The rescue of the two figures considered as myths for the Portuguese was done in the characters of Camões and D. Sebastião, which presence we could verify in countless theatrical texts in the 20th century. The character of Camões was composed in a way to present a humanized image, approximating him of the daily life and contributing, in a certain way, with the fulfillment of gaps in his imprecise biography. Finally, the dialogue between fiction and history allowed to accompany the rule of Saramago and his work in the historical, cultural and social context of Portugal, besides identifying the value of his writing in the dramatic gender.

Amaral, André Luiz do January 2018 (has links)
Abstract: This study analyses Ana Hatherly's (Porto, 1929 - Lisbon, 2015) experimental poetry. She is a multifaceted artist who circulates in the fields of literature, the plastic arts, cinema, and literary criticism. This research initially tries to define the concept of experimental poetry and to delimit a corpus to demonstrate that, despite this designation referring to the international literary phenomenon which arose in the second half of the XX Century, it is hard to define experimental poetry with theoretical rigor. This is partly due to the multiple - almost countless - poetics which have been thus labelled (Concrete, Visual, Phonetic, Sound, Kinetic, Digital Poetry, Holopoetry, Biopoetry, E-poetry, etc.) in the last decades. Moreover, conventional criticism misunderstands the methods and experimental processes by subsuming different aesthetic manifestations under the same generalising category. Besides, the indiscriminate use of the term experimental renders it imprecise, which is to blame on critics and also on the poets' hermeticism. Consequently, poetic experimentalism has become an "elastic hypernym", a huge umbrella wielded by critics, fetishised by the logics of the literary market and by its intrinsic unfinishedness which flatly rejects fixed conceptual categorizations. Hence, the premise of this research is that unequivocal affirmations about poetic experimentalism are impossible to make, and it takes into account Hatherly's warning about the contemporary compulsion ... / Doutor
