Aprendizagem baseada em projeto como proposta para desenvolver a aprendizagem significativa no segundo ano do ensino médio na disciplina de química / Project-based learning as a proposal to develop meaningful learning in the second year of high school in the discipline of chemistry

Pacheco, Fabrício da Silva 15 December 2017 (has links)
Project-Based Learning is an active learning methodology, using the design and execution of a project as a motivating strategy for learning different theoretical topics involved in solving concrete problems. In addition to promoting the construction of knowledge, this method contributes to the development of some personal and professional skills and competences considered important for students\' training and their performance in society, such as autonomous construction of knowledge, critical analysis of situations and problems, selfassessment, interpersonal relationships, among others. This methodology is little used in basic education (basic and secondary) being more applied in medicine and engineering. In this research, a case study on the application of Project Based Learning to the second year of high school was done. The research had a quantitative-qualitative and interdisciplinary character, being applied fundamentally in the discipline of chemistry and with participation and support of the disciplines of Portuguese, Mathematics, History and English. The project proposed to the students was the elaboration and construction of a station to treat chemical, physical and biological factors to obtain drinking water, enough to supply a family of four living on the edge of a river. The development of the students was accompanied by initial and final diagnostic evaluations and throughout the formative course through the formal evaluations of the subjects, the discussion wheels, seminars presentation, project development, construction and presentation of a prototype containing all the treatment steps, and sizing for actual station construction, including materials and costs. The results show signs of a significant learning process, with the development of transversal skills such as social and cooperative development among students, contributing to the process of training active and critical citizens.

Aprendizagem baseada em projetos aplicada no ensino de matemática do ensino médio / Project-based learning applied in mathematics teaching in high school

The Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an active method of teaching and learning in which the students are introduced to a guiding problem situation, which provides, during a search of the solution, a dossier of pertinent information. The PBL consists in a differentiated learning methodology, by allowing the development of technical and transversal skills in solving problems. The technical skills are those necessary to solve the problem. The transversal competences which were the object of study in this study, cover teamwork, personal development, project management and communication. In this methodology, the student becomes the center of attention, the protagonist of its own learning. The following project was thought and developed applying the PBL to the teaching of mathematics in High School, seeking to improve the students\' performance in the discipline. The performance of an action research was the starting point for the beginning of the studies. In this course, researcher and researched were integral parts of the research object. The action research method is structured in planning, collecting data, analyzing data, implementing actions and, finally, evaluating the results. The action research was applied in two cycles, in 2015 and in 2017. The results of the first cycle application brought information that served as the basis for the second cycle. This work describes in detail how the PBL was applied in these two cycles and presents the main results obtained at the end of the second cycle. The PBL applied to the teaching of mathematics reached the expected results, highlighting the visible improvement of the personal performance of the students, in the interpersonal relations, and mainly in the improvement of the learning of mathematics.

Aprendizagem baseada em projeto ágil para educação em programação de computadores no ensino superior brasileiro / Agile project-based learning to cope with the computer programming education at Brazilian higher education

Alexandre Grotta 17 December 2018 (has links)
To learn computer programming is an essential topic to undergraduate students at Information System and related higher education courses. However, teaching programming using traditional methods have become much more challenging due to recent reasons, like changes in the manner that the new generation is now prone to learn, and the arising of new programmable devices. The Project-Based Learn may offer potential benefits to the computer programming education, especially the Agile approach, given its origin at the software development process. And yet there were found a few relevant international studies regarding the Agile Project-Based Learn (APjBL) to cope with the computer programming education at Brazilian Information System higher education. The research leading objective was to analyze the main benefits of the APjBL teaching method when compared to the traditional teaching method, mainly the following four students benefits: academic performance, motivation to learn, verbal communication and vocational inquiry aspects. As the comparison criterion, we selected these four benefits through specific instruments adapted to this research. We also chose the Agile Model for Projects in Computing Education (AMoPCE) as the APjBL teaching method, which was originated from previous researches and that we adapted to this context. This research adopted an experimental approach via a quasi-experiment at the System Development and Analysis higher education course, during the first semester of 2018. A total of 151 students and five teachers participated in this research. By the end of the experiment, the students replied to an electronic questionnaire regarding three benefits: motivation to learn, verbal communication and vocational inquiry aspects. Five professors participated in an individual interview. Students grades and frequency and their historical data were also collected. As results, we found that for procedural (practical) content, AMoPCE presented at least the following benefits: extrinsic motivation, class frequency, and verbal communication via active listening. Even further, when the class is highly procedural, AMoPCE presents two benefits more: intrinsic motivation to learn and intrinsic vocational inquiry. In summary, the hypothesis that AMoPCE benefits the motivation was confirmed at highly procedural classes

Experiences in Professional Development Through Project-Based Language Learning

Westenskow, Florencia 01 December 2018 (has links)
Project-based Language Learning (PBLL) provides students with opportunities to use the target language purposefully and to interact with culturally authentic materials. Because PBLL holds critical benefits for its students, it is important that teachers learn best practices for implementation and how to overcome the challenges that PBLL brings. This study focuses on the experiences of 15 world language teachers as they participated in a PBLL professional development series developed by the National Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC) at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. Findings from this study are based on data gathered from surveys and interviews with a diverse group of educators for the purpose of gaining an understanding of what participants learned and the activities that impacted learning of PBLL. Results show that learning about gold standard elements of PBLL made the biggest impact on participants' pedagogical beliefs and motivated them to change their practice. Activities that positively impacted learning were those that were active, social, and related to practice. Participants were overwhelmed with the amount of content and needed help making connections between the content and their teaching contexts. Overall, participants' experiences in the professional development series led to a change in pedagogical beliefs and a desire to alter their implementation of PBLL.

Special Interpersonal Relationships in Project-Based Organizations

January 2019 (has links)
abstract: The success or failure of projects is not determined only by procedures, tasks, and technologies, but also by the project team and its effectiveness. In order to lead project teams towards successful outcomes, project managers must maintain high quality relationships in the workplace. When looking at employees’ relationships in the workplace, Social Exchange Theory introduces two types of exchanges: employee-organization and leader-member exchanges. While both types of exchanges focus exclusively on the employee’s longitudinal relationships, the interpersonal relationships among the team members are usually overlooked. This research presents the results of a quantitative study of the interpersonal relationships of 327 project managers and assistant project managers in their workplace. Specifically, the study investigates if the quality of the relationship with particular stakeholders, such as one’s immediate supervisor (boss), peers, or subordinates, drives the individual’s quality of the relationship with other stakeholders. Contrary to the expectations, in strictly hierarchical organizations (one direct supervisor), there is no significant correlation between the quality of relationships with the boss and the overall quality of the individual’s relationships. However, in the case of matrix organizations (two or three bosses), there are significant correlations between several variables such as the quality of the relationship, perceived importance and the time spent with each stakeholder, as well the inclination of the participant towards leadership actions. The driving relationship in matrix organizations is the one with “the most important peer”. / Dissertation/Thesis / Doctoral Dissertation Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering 2019

A Case Study of Teachers’ and Administrators’ Experiences Integrating Project-Based Learning

Harrigan, Gastrid 01 January 2014 (has links)
Implementation of project-based learning (PBL) has contributed to increases in students’ retention of concepts, engagement, and academic success. The problem for this study is that teachers’ and administrators’ experiences and perceptions have not been sought regarding the integration of PBL in the classroom at the school district. The purpose of this qualitative instrumental case study was to gain a deeper insight into the experiences of teachers and administrators implementing PBL. Centered on the theory of constructivism, the research questions focused on 10 teachers’ and 5 administrators’ experiences integrating PBL. Face-to-face interviews with participants and 10 classroom observations were conducted. Inductive coding and thematic analysis were used with the collected data. Results indicated that teachers perceived several benefits with PBL such as improved students’ retention and engagement, academic success, and 21st-century skills and a few challenges such as time consuming lesson planning and delivery, and lack of resources and materials. Observations showed improvement in students’ behavior and engagement. Administrators also indicated similar benefits, agreed that there was lack of resources, and perceived challenges to be teachers’ lack of willingness and openness to implement PBL. Recommendations were that schools or district develop accountability measures, best strategies, and curriculum alignment for standards-based PBL. Findings may contribute to positive social change by bringing greater awareness to local educators of the benefits and challenges surrounding implementing PBL. School administrators can foster a school culture and environment for student learning in which teachers are supported and lesson planning and collaboration are prioritized.

Kunskapsdelning i projektmiljö : En fallstudie på ett företag som arbetar i projekt / Knowledge sharing in a project environment : A case study in a project organization

Johansson, Michelle, Lundbäck, Emma, Niklasson, Rebecca January 2019 (has links)
The purpose of this paper is to investigate which tools are used to promote Knowledge Management in project-based organizations, since previous research indicate that the project form experience difficulties regarding Knowledge Management. An empirical research was conducted in order to examine which conditions are crucial for knowledge sharing and which methods are available to share and transfer knowledge within and between projects. The data was gathered through semi-structured interviews. The result of the study shows that there is a belief among the respondents that knowledge exists within the individual. The result also indicates that the preferred way to share knowledge is through personal communication and asocial network. Hence, in order for knowledge sharing to be promoted, employees must have abroad social network. Furthermore, there must exist an organizational culture that promotes knowledge sharing behavior among the employees. Nevertheless, a successful Knowledge Management process should ensure to include systematic processes for both sharing and transferring of explicit and implicit knowledge. The result indicates that tools for knowledge storage and tools like lessons-learned, together contribute to effective Knowledge Management processes that ensure knowledge being transferred between projects.

The aim was drawing on and extending important ideas of research on organizational management of project-based teams. On the basis of literature review aspects that have the most influential impact on communication within project-based networks are organized in a integrative framework that gives an image of factors influencing relationships in project-based teams. Firstly, the generalizability of the findings presented here remains to be tested. Secondly, the aspects influencing relational exchanges in short-term project setting identified here may not be exhaustive: they could be supplemented by the discovery of other aspects, perhaps through data collected from project setting of different type. Thirdly, although relational exchanges can vary in sense of communication and collaboration intensity, it was outside the scope of this study to address the issue at this level of analysis. Despite these limitations, this study has made an attempt to draw up the findings that may have some implications for both research and practice.

Value of research: As revealed in our study, a set of management incentives may help in creating a positive environment for efficient communication and collaboration within a project.

Kemppainen, Tarja January 2011 (has links)
In the introductory part of the Curriculum for the Compulsory School, the importance of pupils participation in the planning and the evaluation of their education is highlighted. Also to develop their ability to participate and to take responsibility in school is highlighted. Earlier research shows that the school has failed in this mission. This study is a part of an action, which developing focus has been to increase the pupils participation in project based learning. The intention of the study is to throw light upon pupils participation from the pupils view, what meaning and what value do the pupils give participation, and how do they think it is working in practice. The research question is: How do pupils describe participation in school? The purpose of the study is to highlight pupils participation from the pupils' view, to understand what meaning and value it gives to the pupils', and how they think it works in practice. Data has been produced by the pupils by writing logbooks about participation and by follow-up conversation with the same pupils. The empirics have been analyzed throw dimensions of participation; the dimension of content, the dimension of motive power and the dimension of cooperation. The pupils descriptions' of participation are also descriptions about learning. The result shows that participation gives meaning to the pupils learning. The individual freedom of choice is motivating for the pupils. The most important area for the pupils to participate in, is the content and the form of learning-area. Participation is described both from an individual and a collective perspective by the pupils. The results of the study confirm Illeris and Wengers theories about cooperative learning and social learning.
