Der empirisch-theologische Praxis-Zyklus als methodologischer Ansatz ANSATZ innerhalb der Missionwissenschaft(The Empirical-Theological Praxix Cycle as methodological starting point in Missiology).Faix, Tobias 30 November 2003 (has links)
The intention of the empirical missiology is to systematically examine the reality of mission practice with the aid of empirical methods. To reach this aim the dissertation will attempt to combine empirical social science with missiology in a way that they positively complement one another throughout the whole process of research. This intradisciplinary procedure is new to missiology and therefore an important contribution to research. To form a basis, social as well as missiological research will be dealt with and von der Vens empirical theology examined. For the hermeneutic methodological realization of the empirical missiology an empirical-theological praxis cycle will be developed consisting of seven individual stages of research. The missiological reflection of each stage is the minor cycle. This procedure guarantees firstly a strictly methodical way of working and secondly missiological relevance that takes the context of praxis seriously and serves the mission. / Christian Spirituality, Church History and Missiology / M. Professional nurses' perception of nursing mentally ill people in a general hospital settingLethoba, Katleho Germina 03 1900 (has links)
Recognising the enormous challenges in South Africa confronting the nursing of the mentally ill, the project was conducted in a public hospital in Gauteng. The purpose of the research was to describe professional nurses' perception of nursing mentally ill people in a general hospital setting and was carried out amongst a sample size of 124 professional nursing staff using a self-administered tool.
The study looked at four different types of perceptions guided by categories of conceptual framework proposed by Mavundla (2000:1569-1570), namely perception of self, perception of patients, perception of environment and perceived feelings.
The study found that the majority of professional nurses have a predominantly positive self- perception of nursing mentally ill people in a general hospital, although a significant number have a negative perception of patients, the nursing environment and perceived feelings. Lack of knowledge, skill and experience affect the nursing care of mentally ill people in the general hospital. / Health Studies / M.A. (Health Studies)

Previous issue date: 2015-08-27 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / There are indications that social resources of the working environment, including organizational justice, could affect ties with the work, and have shocked the levels of well-being of workers. In addition, evidence suggests that certain psychological characteristics of workers would vary positively or negatively influence the magnitude of the resources on the links with work and on well-being. Based on this evidence this study aimed to analyze the influence of organizational justice (distributive, procedures and interactional) and psychological capital on engagement at work and subjective well-being (emotional balance and life satisfaction). From the main goal, four hypotheses have been proposed: perception of organizational justice increases engagement at work (H1) and subjective well-being (H2); psychological capital was moderator of the relationship between organizational justice and subjective well-being (H3) and the relationship between organizational justice and engagement (H4), and that high levels of psychological capital would strengthen relations. The design was a cross-sectional quantitative, descriptive and non-probability sampling. From a sample of 293 workers with an average age of 38.3 (SD = 10.7) years, of which slightly more than half were women (56.3pc), coming from all regions of Brazil, predominantly in the Southeast (65.2pc) was measured with valid and accurate scales, through an online questionnaire, the organizational justice levels, psychological capital, engagement at work and subjective well-being. Two sets of multiple linear regression analysis to test the hypotheses were performed. In the first set of analyzes, the results of standard multiple linear regressions indicated that organizational justice influenced the levels of engagement at work and subjective well-being, and, in relation to engagement and emotional balance, only the interactional dimension of justice was significant predictor while distributive justice was the only significant predictor of life satisfaction. In the second set of analyzes, the hierarchical multiple linear regressions for each dimension of organizational justice, along with psychological capital and interaction term upon engagement at work and subjective well-being, they indicated that psychological capital moderated the relations of procedural justice and interactional justice on engagement at work. It was concluded from the results that the perception of being adequately remunerated for their efforts at work, participate in decisions that affect the work and be treated with respect and sincerity can influence the levels of pride and inspiration at work, engagement features, and may increase the subjective well-being levels, contributing to the prevailing experience of positive affect and positive satisfaction ratings with life. Moreover, although it is not possible to say that workers with higher levels of belief in their ability to perform their tasks and with good prospects for the future, can do without fair environments to engage in work, the results showed that these workers can suffer less influence of interactional and procedural justice to establish that bond with their work, demonstrating that these personal characteristics would act as shock absorbers given the lack of environmental resources.

There are few examples in literature about the integration of project tools along the product development phases. The main research objective in thesis is to integrate some tools that facilitate the information flow along the product development phases, more specifically in Informational Project, Conceptual Project and Detailed Project phases. The product improvement “support for Vehicular Natural Gas” was the object of study in thesis. The main idea is that the information output from one tool is the input information of the subsequent tool. Starting from the Informational Project phase it was performed qualitative and quantitative market researches with the purpose of identifying the customers' demands for the studied product. The customers’ demands were the entrance data of the QFD (Quality Function Deployment) tool resulting in the product requirements and their respective specifications-goal. In Concept Project the product requirements were converted in functions and further different concepts were generated through the Morphologic Analysis. In the sequence, it was used the DOE (Design for experiments) tool to evaluate the estimate price to the possible products' configurations. The Pugh Matrix tool was used for concepts evaluation and choice. The FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) tool integrated with QFD was useful for current and potential failures identification and impact analysis in the system and process. With the application of these five tools the users’ demands were identified and improvements to the product were performed. The chosen tools proved to be adequate for integration, assuring that a continuous trackable information flow was attained with presumable reduced information loss, along the Product Development Process phases.

Titulkování a dabing na české televizní obrazovce / Subtitling and Dubbing on the Czech Television ScreenSalovaara, Marie January 2018 (has links)
The present master's thesis named Subtitling and Dubbing on the Czech Television Screen deals with the attitudes and preferences of the Czech television audience from the point of view of audiovisual translation (dubbing and subtitling) and aims to identify the reasons for these preferences. The thesis also focuses on the impact of sociodemographic features (age, level of education, foreign language skills) on these preferences. The objective is to cover relevant matters of both audiovisual translation theory as well as practice abroad and in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part provides a systematic summary of studies and other relevant literature in the field of audiovisual translation. Firstly, the two main methods of audiovisual translation are introduced, including a comparison of their advantages and disadvantages for the viewer. This is followed by a description of the historical development of audiovisual translation in a global context and the current changes in the given field. Also other relevant audience studies are presented. The next part of the thesis discusses the specific context of the Czech Republic as a "dubbing" country not only from the historical point of view, but also from the present perspective. The author focuses mainly on the only Czech public television - Czech...

The relationship between selected affective factors and achievement in English of secondary school students in ZimbabweCrowe, John Harold 30 June 2004 (has links)
Academic achievement in the context of the school necessarily involves a whole range of factors. The education system and schools in particular, have assumed the primacy of cognitive attributions in the learner over that of any other factors in the shaping and honing of individual academic achievement. However, the literature revealed that the learning process within the school environment feeds on a plethora of explanations for academic success or otherwise. Much work by researchers has focused on factors other than the cognitive, in an attempt to explain good or weak academic achievement. Certainly the separation of the cognitive from the affective in terms of achievement is impractical, as revealed by the literature. However the literature also contradicts received wisdom which suggests the omniscience of the cognitive as an explanatory tool for academic performance. This investigation focused on factors other than the cognitive in order to seek reasons for academic success. Three important affective factors were selected from the literature in order to ascertain whether these factors played a role in academic achievement or indeed if there was a relationship between these factors and scholastic success or otherwise. An empirical investigation was conducted which consisted primarily of a questionnaire for form four students in English classes. The questionnaire consisted of four sections with a total of 81 items. It was completed by 271 students attending five schools in Mutare Zimbabwe. Statistical analyses revealed that the affective factors attitudes towards English, self-concepts of academic ability and student perceptions of their teachers of English correlated significantly. The analyses also revealed that the selected factors took up 33% of the variance and that within that 33% the area in which students lived was the most important factor contributing to academic achievement whilst I.Q. and student self-concept of academic ability followed closely. The results of the literature study and the empirical investigation demonstrated that there are factors other than the cognitive which are important in terms of academic success in school As a result recommendations were made regarding school based programmes where the aim is to enhance affective factors and therefore achievement. / Educational Studies / D.Ed. The development of a programme for parental involvement in senior primary school education in SwazilandMonadjem, Lynette Carol 30 November 2003 (has links)
Parental involvement (PI) greatly benefits learners of all ages. The implementation of a PI programme would provide an effective and affordable means to address the needs of learners in Swaziland. The purpose of this study was to develop a PI programme for urban primary education in Swaziland.
The literature revealed that while comprehensive PI programmes are most effective, PI in learning activities in the home and an appropriate parenting style are particularly beneficial and correlate more closely with learning success than family background factors. Nevertheless, a relationship between family background factors and PI exists. Furthermore there are numerous barriers to PI. However, the most important determinant of PI is the effort of teachers to involve parents. PI is particularly important at senior primary level, the level at which PI drops off spontaneously.
In order to gain a more complete understanding of PI in this community, which would form the basis for an effective PI programme, a combined quantitative and qualitative approach was undertaken. A parental questionnaire was used to test quantitatively the affects of family background factors on three measures of PI and to determine the ways in which parents were involved, their attitudes to the schools, and the schools' efforts to involve them. Teacher and parent interviews and focus discussions were conducted following a qualitative ethnographic approach.
The integrated quantitative and qualitative findings revealed a low level of PI. As a result of a lack of relevant policy, Swazi teachers had very little understanding of PI or their role in establishing it. Thus, schools generally practiced Swap's Protective Model such that parents had very few opportunities, and little encouragement, to become involved. Consequently, parents did not fully appreciate the importance of their involvement and did not always choose to become involved. The study revealed a number of barriers that further interfered with their involvement.
The implications of the findings were discussed and recommendations for a PI programme that harnesses the strengths and addresses the weaknesses of this community were made. In order to improve educational practice, recommendations targeted each role player and type of PI separately. / Educational Studies / D.Ed.(Psychology of Education)

Factors affecting compliance with anti-hypertensive drug treatment and required lifestyle modifications among hypertensive patients on Praslin islandEdo, Thomas Akpan 06 1900 (has links)
Various studies on compliance with anti-hypertensive medications and appropriate lifestyle modifications have been conducted worldwide but studies specific to the Island of Praslin are lacking. The purpose of this quantitative, descriptive-correlational study was to describe factors that affected compliance with hypertension medications and lifestyle modification strategies in a sample of 102 hypertensive persons. The comprehensive version of the Health Belief Model served as the conceptual framework directing the study. The researcher investigated whether there were any significant relationships between compliance and the Health Belief Model variables. Data was collected by means of structured interviews and document analysis, involving an interview schedule and a checklist. All respondents were diagnosed hypertension patients registered at either of the two public health centres on the Island of Praslin. Individual perception of the benefits and risks of hypertension treatment as well as cues to action were found to be significant determinants of compliance behaviour. The study highlighted the need for improved health education and follow-up measures to strengthen patients’ perceptions about the benefits of treatment and compliance. / Public Health / M.A. (Public Health)

The impact of disciplinary problems on educator morale in secondary schools and implications for managementMasekoameng, Morongwa Constance January 2010 (has links)
The aim of this study was to identify the kinds of disciplinary problems educators experience in schools, their causes, as well as their impact on the morale of educators. The researcher made use of a quantitative approach whereby questionnaires were completed by educators from five secondary schools in the Zebediela area. In total, 89 respondents completed the questionnaires. They were from both genders, with various years’ of teaching experience, and generally well qualified.
The results indicated that there indeed existed disciplinary problems in the schools. These problems were caused by factors relating to the learners, to their parents, the educators, as well as to the school principal. The impact of a lack of discipline on educator morale included anger, irritability, tiredness, loss of control, and expressing the wish to leave the teaching profession. The study made recommendations for managers on how to improve the situation, and also for further study. Some limitations of the study were also identified. / Further Teacher Education / M.Ed.
