A management by delegation smart object aware system for the internet of thingsMarotta, Marcelo Antonio January 2013 (has links)
The smart objects (SObjs) are numerous and will communicate directly through the Internet of Things (IoT).
This paper presents the script of the Uma Bicicleta, Minha Mãe e Dois Cinemas, which addresses the life of a family who lives and works in a cinema district in Curitiba. Parallel to the script, it was developed a research on the history of movie theaters of Curitiba, favoring testimony from professionals who worked in the exhibitor business. The reports influenced the final form of the drama, providing directions for creating characters and situations, limiting even the times where the story happens. The script is, therefore, a fictional treatment of the evidence obtained, the closest to the reports obtained. Dramaturgy is applied in the transposition of the report to the fictional universe.

Uso de gerenciamento por delegação para controle e administração de no-breaks / Use of management by delegation for control and administration of UPSPolina, Everton Rafael January 2007 (has links)
Nowadays most companies are investing in non-stop systems, which leads to investments in management systems to know when a fault occurs or to foresee and avoid them. To reduce the effects of power supply faults (which are common in Brazil and in other parts of the world), people use UPS systems. These equipments are designed to guarantee the power supply for a pre-defined limited time, just in case the power company interrupts the supply. The main goal of this work is to present the implementation of a management application for UPS systems, which has the differential of using the management-bydelegation paradigm, based on SNMP, showing the advantages of this paradigm. The application uses Script MIB and an implementation of this standard (JASMIN - Java Script MIB Implementation) for task distribution, in such a way that all the tool interactivity and process automation was done using the free tools Apache and PHP. The work also presents a brief description about the UPS functioning, and shows UPS-MIB, the standard MIB for UPS management. Additionally the work presents some important objects available in some custom MIBs that are used for UPS management too. This study suggests the use of a set of tools to make the management system responsible for the workstations plugged on the UPS, which means that when the UPS is about to be unable to maintain the load, it should be turned off safely to avoid data losses or hardware faults. One can note that the management done in this work through the developed tool makes easy the fault detection in the power supply system. This leads to a good interaction with the UPS to verify the conditions of the power network in order to take decisions to maintain the computer network running safely.

Estudando a alfabetização científica por meio de visita roteirizada a uma exposição de jardim botânico / Researching the Scientific Literacy by means of a scripted visit to a botanical garden\'s exhibitionJuliana Rodrigues 03 February 2017 (has links)
The spread of natural sciences in non-formal education has been subject of discussions in the area of science education in search for elements that allow the understanding of their potential and their challenges. Current investigations are seeking to understand the potential of museums to promote scientific literacy process of their visitors by means of educational activities that develop. Among the elements in education in museums are educational materials and included in this set, we have the visit scripts to exhibitions. In this perspective, the objective of this study was to analyze the scientific literacy process in family visits to the \"Trilha da Nascente\" of Botanical Garden of São Paulo from the use of a developed script from the perspective of the Scientific literacy. It was also the intention of the research to understand the role of this script as a strategy for the promotion of the process of Scientific Literacy with the families who visit this site. The potential of the material was investigated as an educational resource for the promotion of Scientific Literacy, analyzing both the process of elaboration of the material and its effects when applied to a visiting family of \"Trilha da Nascente\" . The preparation of the script was based on literature and professional experience of the involved researchers, having passed through a validation process involving different actors, experts and the public itself. The final version of the script provided as part of a kit with other objects such as monocular and magnifying glass, was applied and evaluated on a family visit. From a methodological point of view, the proposed research fits into the perspective of qualitative research, with the focus on the perspective of the participants in the quest to answer the potential and limitations of scripted visits and their possible impacts on Botanical Garden visitors in São Paulo. The data in predetermined categories - scientific literacy indicators and investigative skills-, constituted as the basis for the study of the subjects\' speeches in the interaction with the script during the visit to the \"Trilha da Nascente\". This procedure revealed us evidence that the Scientific Literacy is in process for the family members. Thereby, we point out that the production and use of scripts in visits to museums can promote reflection and assist the development of the activities of educational museums sectors.

Walk-A-Way : A Maya Plug-in for Walk Cycle AutomationChristiansson, Kajsa January 2009 (has links)
In 3D and 2D animations walk cycles of characters appear very frequently and are an important way of expressing various aspects of the story told. However walk cycles are tedious and time consuming to animate. In this work an Autodesk MAYA plug-in has been developed, that aims at automating this process. The walk cycle plug-in can be highly beneficial for animators when creating convincing walk cycles in a fast and simple way. The plug-in calculates the right values for each phase in the walk cycle. The GUI of the plug-in makes it easy to provide the required input parameters. In addition, the plug-in allows the animation of a character to walk along a chosen path.

Our thesis focuses on understanding how employees find their position when they come back from traditional expatriation. In this thesis, we propose to consider this position as a moment in a career. The management science literature regarding careers typically proposes two opposite models: the organizational career and the new careers. In line with authors who seek to overcome this opposition, we analyze the combined influence of the organization and the expatriate in shaping this moment of career. To do that, we use Barley's theory of career scripts (1989). Relying on sixty-five interviews and the study of secondary data, this thesis shows that multinational companies encode four organizational expatriate career scripts. Each of these scripts offers a specific combination of resources, interpretive schemes and norms which, on the one hand, informs about the articulation made by organization between expatriation and career and on the other hand, impacts more or less strongly individual action. Our thesis also shows that expatriates can influence their organization through the enactment of their script. Finally, our thesis questions the myth of the Generic Expatriate, includes the item of the position found after repatriation in the career literature and shows how expatriates' behaviour is influenced by organizational career scripts but also how, in return, expatriates transform their organization through their behaviour.

The changing role of katakana in the Japanese writing system: / Processing and pedagogical dimensions for native speakers and foreign learnersIgarashi, Yuko 16 August 2007 (has links)
Contemporary Japanese possesses three major types of words, (1) kango (Sino-Japanese words), (2) wago (Japanese native words), and (3) gairaigo (loanwords), and each word type is associated with three types of scripts, (1) kanji (Chinese characters), (2) hiragana, and (3) katakana. Kanji are a set of logographic/ideographic scripts, and both hiragana and katakana are phonetic syllabaries. Kanji are used for presenting kango and wago, while some wago are written only in hiragana. Katakana are used for presenting gairaigo. Moreover, katakana are unconventionally used to write kango and wago for the purposes of emphasis and so forth. This paper extensively examines katakana words including gairaigo as well as kango and wago written in katakana unconventionally.
Many observers have commented that katakana words are increasing in Japanese writings. However, there is little empirical data to prove their increase in such writings. This dissertation pursues this question by hypothesizing that katakana words have been increasingly used in Japanese writings. Together with providing evidence of their increase, this dissertation captures differences in katakana word usage between different publication outlets, namely, magazines and newspapers as well as television commercials. In order to investigate these issues, a research project is conducted where vocabularies from the three types of media are collected on computer databases.
The increase of katakana words in Japanese writings poses a problem to foreign learners of Japanese whose L1 is English. As reported in various research including Chikamatsu (1996), the learners generally experience difficulty in processing and comprehending katakana words. From the learners’ perspective, the increase of katakana words in Japanese writings means that the learners need to know more katakana words than ever before to read Japanese writings.
Meanwhile, native readers of Japanese also express some difficulty with katakana words, as illustrated in the recent survey results by the National Institute for Japanese Language and the Japan Broadcasting Corporation. Both governmental agencies found that many Japanese had the experience of being unable to understand the meaning of some gairaigo. Their difficulty seems to partially be caused by the increase of gairaigo in Japanese writings. From the native readers’ perspective, the increase of gairaigo means that new gairaigo are continuously introduced in such writings, some of which are not deeply rooted in Japanese gairaigo inventory but have been introduced relatively recently, with the ensuing result that many people do not know the meaning of such words.
Although it is clear that both foreign learners and native readers of Japanese have difficulty with katakana words due to the increase of such words, to date no linguistic analysis has been conducted to account for reasons of their difficulty. Thus, this dissertation examines such reasons, and then offers some suggestions as to how to make gairaigo more comprehensible from the point of view of script policy and pedagogical practice. And ultimately, some conclusions regarding the role of katakana in the Japanese orthographic system will be discussed in the light of the history of the Japanese language and its writing system.

Parametrized Finite Element Simulation of Multi-Storey Timber StructuresKuai, Le January 2017 (has links)
With the acceleration of global urbanization trends, more and more intentions are put on multi-storey buildings. As the world leading area of wood construction, European countries started the construction of multi-storey timber building for a decade ago. However, unlike the traditional buildings made of reinforced concrete, the design of wooden high-rise timber buildings would face a substantial amount of new challenges because such high-rise timber buildings are touching the limitations of the timber engineering field. In this thesis, a parameterized three-dimensional FE-model (in ABAQUS) of a multi-storey timber frame building is created. Variable geometrical parameters, connection stiffness as well as boundary connections and applied wind and gravity loads are defined in a Python script to make it possible to analyze the influence of these parameters on the global structural behavior of the studied multi-storey timber frame building. The results and analysis implied that the script successfully worked and was capable to create different complex building geometries in an wasy way for the finite element analysis.
