Sociolingvistická perspektiva bilingvních komunit v Mexiku: případ etnika Rarámuri / Sociolinguistic perspective of bilingual communities in Mexico: the case of the ethnic group Rarámuri

Sosíková, Tereza January 2016 (has links)
The thesis is based on an argument that the minority language Rarámuri, as well as other indigenous languages of Mexico, is found in unequal position to the Spanish language, coinciding with the indigenous communities' socioeconomic conditions in a comparison to the central majority of the Spanish-speaking population. The indigenous mother tongue is often percieved by its speakers as an obstacle for achieving a better socioeconomic situation and experiencing the modernized lifestyle of the majority. Often, it is one of the first cultural attributes that is being abandoned. The speakers of minority languages are also an object of the state's educational policies that are presented as supportive for vernacular cultures and languages, however they have mostly opposite effect, which reveals the fact their essential intention is an assimilation. In this study I focus on three aspects of this sociolinguistic issue: firstly, the general approach and educational politics of Mexican State in regard of indigenous population in the twentieth century. Secondly, the description of main extralinguistic factors that condition vitality of a language, in this case it is the Rarámuri language. And thirdly, a field work research of language situation in selected communities with different meassures of bilingualism....

Vid utmattningens gräns. Utmattningssyndrom som existentiellt tillstånd : Vårdtagares och vårdgivares erfarenheter av utmattningssyndrom och rehabilitering med en existentiell ansats i svensk vårdkontext

Eriksson, Ann-Kristin Mimmi January 2016 (has links)
Background and objectives: Stress-related illness is a growing public health problem in Sweden and it is the most common reason for sick leave today. Stress-related illness causes suffering on a number of levels and affects the patient’s health and life in the long term. The stress-related ill health also leads to consequences for society, causing high costs for sick leave and health care as well as lost workforce since people partially or entirely lose their capacity to work. Research on stress-related ill health and rehabilitation often underline work-related conditions as crucial in dealing with the problem. There is also research that points out psychosocial factors in understanding stress-related ill health. What we know little about is the existential perspective of clinical burn-out. Therefore, it is of importance to investigate people’s existential experiences of clinical burn-out and the significance of an existential perspective in rehabilitation. Aim: The overall aim of this thesis is to gain insight into the existential experience of clinical burn-out as well as to highlight the significance of an existential perspective in rehabilitation. In addition, the thesis aims to reach a deeper understanding of clinical burn-out from an existential point of view and contribute to the field with knowledge of the existential dimension of health. Methods: The study, conducted in 2011, is based on qualitative interviews made with an inductive hermeneutic approach. Five patients and seven care givers were interviewed, focusing their existential experiences of clinical burn-out as well as their experiences of rehabilitation with an existential approach. A strategic selection was made of informants in the context of a rehabilitation program with an existential approach for people diagnosed with clinical burn-out. The data was analysed in two steps. In the first step the data was interpreted with an inductive hermeneutic approach. In step two of the analysis, the data was interpreted with a deductive hermeneutic approach, using Karl Jasper’s concept of limit situation as a way of interpreting the existential experience. Aaron Antonovsky’s concept sense of coherence was used as a tool for understanding components that can contribute to restoring health. Results: In this study, the patients describe clinical burn-out as a comprehensive existential experience that can be perceived as being in between life and death, in a shadow world, trapped in a dead end. It’s a situation characterized by being powerless. It creates a need to comprehend one’s situation in order to be able to regain control and manage it. It’s a struggle to make sense of the life situation. When not being met with understanding, the patients lose hope. Existential issues in terms of meaning, existence and life choices become urgent. Working with the existential perspective requires trust, openness from both caregiver and patient, distinctness, a way to communicate it and courage to take on the challenge of dealing with existential issues. The perspective also requires that the existential suffering can be contained. Dealing with existential questions leads to self-knowledge and insights that enables a possibility to make different choices and leave negative behavioural patterns. Also, it can lead to a discovery of spirituality and religion as a resource in life. Besides their personal struggle for meaning, the patients see an existential void in society, leaving people without tools to handle existential needs. This is understood as something that affects people’s ability to handle stressful times in life. The care providers understand burn-out as a manifestation of a way of living that is not sustainable. It is an existential experience embodied in body and mind that can be experienced as being drained of life. It’s an existential challenge, causing grief when realizing one’s limitations as a human being. Also, loss of meaning and sense of existential vulnerability due to an experience of being annihilated is crucial for understanding the deep existential crisis that clinical burn-out can induce. This situation makes the patient ask existential questions about identity, meaning, values and direction. In the burnout-process the patients have distanced themselves from their own self and therefore need to reconnect with themselves. This makes the existential questions central in the rehabilitation as a way to reconnect to inner strength and resources, which are prerequisites for starting a health promoting, sustainable process which is empowering, making it possible to see oneself as a human being who experience meaning, not only as a patient with a diagnosis. Instead of finding meaning in the diagnosis, the patient’s existential questions and the existential experience is a key to moving forward, out of the situation. Meaning-making is therefore important in the rehabilitation. A holistic-existential approach and view of man makes it possible to work with the complexity of the situation. The holistic-existential approach creates synergies and offers an extra tool both for the caregiver and the patient. Focusing on the patient’s resources and competence makes it possible to see the crisis as a way to learn from it. The existential perspective in health care and rehabilitation is enabled by competence, openness, reliance, empathy and respect when meeting the patient. It also requires courage to take on the challenge of dealing with existential issues. It can be hard for both the patient and the care giver to confront existential suffering. It is the responsibility of the care giver to enable the existential perspective by acknowledging and making the existential perspective possible to communicate and work it through. The care providers understands values in modern society as contributing to people’s experience of feeling alone with existential needs, which intensifies their existential aloneness. The care providers’ experience is that the biomedical paradigm aggravates an existential perspective. The perspective is not associated with the care situation. There is a lack of knowledge about and understanding of the value of the existential perspective, all the way from the decision-making level to the clinical meeting with the patient. In addition, the paradigm affects how the patients express their illness. Also, the perspective requires time. Existential perspectives, therefore, tend to be concealed in the health care context. Applying Karl Jasper’s concept of limit situation, clinical burn-out can be interpreted as a defining existential experience. It can be understood as a limit situation when humans realize their limitations and at the same time get insights that are crucial for their lives. It’s an experience they wish they had not gone through, but on the other hand, it has led to insights they do not want to be without. The meaning-making process is health promoting by recreating meaning, the fundamental part of sense of coherence, which is crucial for a salutogenic direction. Conclusion: The existential state that the clinical burnout patients go through can, using Karl Jasper’s concept, be understood as a limit situation. According to Jasper’s reasoning, the limit situation can be perceived as facing an abyss, making it clear one has limitations as a human being. At the same time, the experience can be perceived as reaching a limit where humans can get insights about human life that can enhance life. Clinical burn-out, using Aaron Antonovsky’s concept, can be understood as a loss of the components that create sense of coherence. Loss of meaning is particularly central for understanding burn-out. Consequently, it is crucial to acknowledge the existential challenge that the patient is facing, as well as the importance of the meaning-making process for facilitating a movement in a health promoting manner. It gives a deeper understanding of the challenges and needs of patients suffering from clinical burn-out. The existential dimension of health has been highlighted in health promotion, but gets little attention in practice. This is especially significant in the health care context. This points out the need for a discussion about how the existential health dimension can be used as a resource in health care and rehabilitation and how this resource for health can be applied in a better way in health promotion and public health.

Skilda världar : företagsdoktoranders upplevelser av forskarutbildning

Wallgren, Lillemor January 2003 (has links)
Development of appropriate educational structures for industrial graduate students is becoming increasingly important, as industry's demand for graduate-educated employees increases. In the past few years, a special investment has been made in industrial graduate schools, with the aim ofbringing graduate education and industry together, and increasing industry's access to doctoral graduates. In this study, we followed a group of doctoral students in the Graduate School for Applied IT and Software Engineering, in order to document their experiences and identify problems and factors relevant to their progress in graduate education and in industry. In an extensive interview study, twenty-three graduate students present their situation and experience of graduate education, conducted partly through placement in a company. In a stepwise analysis of the material, diff erent environmental factors are identi:fied, that can be related to a structured interpretation of their experience, dependent on the nature of their industrial environment. The result is related to earlier research on traditional graduate education and supervision. Questions elucidated in the material and analysis include the graduate students' experience oftheir situation, how they handle the responsibility for their education, which people they experience as most signi:ficant, what in±luence their company has exercised over their subject choice and publication and how the acadernic environment interacts with the company environment. The study provides a comprehensive survey of a so-far fairly unknown educational situation characterized by great variation in study conditions, and presents a model for analysis of the graduate educational prodess for industrial doctoral students.

Připravenost obyvatelstva vybraného města na přežití krizové situace / Preparedness of the population in the selected city to survive the crisis situation

KUŽELOVÁ, Blanka January 2019 (has links)
Every day, the people can encounter a danger, which represents for them unexpected situations, such as various catastrophes, natural disasters, traffic accidents, or disasters accompanied by hazardous substances leakage. The emergence of crisis situations is mostly fast, unexpected, and in most cases these situations can't be averted before they hit. To alleviate the aftermaths of extraordinary events or crisis situations, the population preparedness is essential, mostly for them to know how to behave in such situations and help themselves and their close ones. The aim of the thesis was to find out the level of the preparedness of the residents of České Budějovice to survive a crisis situation and then compare the individual age categories. The level of preparedness was found out by a questionnaires and the results were then evaluated by the means of descriptive and mathematical statistics. The questionnaire consisted of 25 questions, 16 of those questions were subjects to a statistical inquiry. The research set was formed of 466 residents of České Budějovice, who were then divided into individual age categories. The evaluation of the stated hypotheses was achieved mainly by the means of descriptive and mathematical statistics. The first hypothesis, claiming that the residents of České Budějovice are prepared for surviving a crisis situation, couldn't be accepted, because from the results of the statistical inquiry is apparent, that the preparedness of the residents is on a low level. However, the least prepared are residents aged 35 years and less, so the second hypothesis could be accepted. This master thesis can serve as a study material, which could be useful for further research in the field of preparedness of the residents of České Budějovice for an extraordinary event or crisis situation.

Spolupráce orgánů krizového řízení územních samosprávných celků a nestátních neziskových organizací při řešení mimořádných událostí / The cooperation between emergency management authorities in territorial self-governing units and non-governmental non-profit organisations addressing major emergencies

MIKEŠOVÁ, Věra January 2019 (has links)
Nowadays, more and more major emergencies of natural or anthropogenic origin are occurring, which often become crisis situations. Crisis management is set up to deal with these events and has the task of providing comprehensive preparation for their management. In recent years, crisis management authorities have been using non-governmental non-profit organizations to work together to contribute to crisis management, particularly in the provision of humanitarian assistance to the affected population. The diploma thesis focuses on crisis management authorities of territorial self-governing units and on non-governmental non-profit organizations, which are part of the South Bohemian Region Panel, which is a free association of participants and is established for the purpose of their coordination in providing forces, resources and activities to the South Bohemian Region in dealing with major emergencies and crisis situations. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the possibilities of cooperation between crisis management authorities and non-governmental non-profit organizations operating in the South Bohemian Region in deploying the forces and resources needed to deal with emergencies and crisis situations and cooperation of the above mentioned entities during the floods in 2013. In order to achieve the determined objective and obtain objective results, quantitative research was applied, using a questionnaire survey. It was applied to crisis management personnel of the municipality with extended powers within the South Bohemian Region. Furthermore, a qualitative research was conducted in the form of a controlled interview with representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations who are members of the Panel of the South Bohemian Region. The information obtained from the non-profit organizations and the evaluation of the questionnaire survey from the crisis management personnel show that the research questions are answered positively, i.e. the cooperation between the above-mentioned entities worked without major problems in 2013. The crisis management authorities used assistance from non-governmental non-profit organizations to a greater extent in monitoring the situation, material assistance and manual assistance, to a lesser extent financial and psychosocial assistance. Thanks to the experience gained by the above-mentioned entities during the floods in 2013, but especially during previous major emergencies or crisis situations, there is a constant development in the area of cooperation between them. In order to improve mutual cooperation, there are training sessions, meetings and exercises organized by the South Bohemian Region, integrated rescue system units, non-profit organizations as well as crisis management personnel of the municipality with extended powers. The results of the analysis of the thesis can serve as a basis for increasing the efficiency and improving the cooperation in deploying forces and resources by crisis management authorities and non-governmental non-profit organizations, as well as study material.

Porovnání skupin radikálních fotbalových fanoušků v ČR a sousedních státech (SRN, Polsko) a jejich prom ěna z hlediska migrace. / Comparison between groups of radical football fans in Czech repuplic and neighbour states (BRD, Poland) and their change from the migration point of view.

Kovařík, Martin January 2019 (has links)
The focus of this master thesis is the comparison of extreme football fans, more specifically ultras and hooligans in the Czech Republic, Germany, and Poland and the influence of the European migrant crisis on these groups. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the general characteristics of the hooligans subculture, its origins, and development will be described. Furthermore, the functioning of the extreme fan groups in the neighbouring countries of the Czech Republic, i.e. Germany and Poland will be outlined. Moreover, the political stances of these countries on the issues related to the migrant crisis are depicted. These stances have a large impact on shaping of public opinions, including the aforementioned groups. The analytical part of this thesis consists of six interviews. These interviews should help with understanding the views on the migration of the members of the radical fan groups in the selected countries and moreover closely depict the hooligans scene across specific regions. The goal of this thesis is hence to depict the origins, development, and the members of a hooligans subculture on one side. And on the other side, to explain how the European migrant crisis (historical phenomenon of the past decade in Europe) has influenced the stances of the hooligan subculture on the influx...
