服務導向架構(Service-Oriented-Architecture, SOA)與事件導向架構(Event-driven Architecture, EDA)的結合應用將成為未來Real-Time Enterprise軟體應用系統架構的主流趨勢,雖然兩架構的結合可以整體提升應用系統之反應、整合與溝通的能力,但若無良好的事件管理機制及搭配提供服務的配套設計,則難以充分發揮兩架構結合的互補綜效。本研究所提出之調適式SOA有效事件模型,以事件價值觀點(Value-driven)分析事件所提供的價值對使用者的重要性與效益。由於使用者所重視的事件價值不同,因此也為各別使用者設計一調適性事件語意資訊模型(Customized Event Ontology Model),作為篩選事件的依據,另外,事件管理機制也可運用智慧型代理人(Agent)觀察使用者採用事件的行為,透過學習更新事件過濾的規則,並可建議使用者取消訂閱(subscribe)不重視的事件。本研究同時搭配設計一事件與服務對應的機制,並透過此機制連結外部環境所提供的服務。本研究所提出之調適式SOA有效事件模型,預期可提供更為健全的服務導向架構(SOA)與事件導向架構(EDA)的結合應用設計,讓使用者可以真正受惠於此種應用軟體架構結合的好處與效用。 / The combination of Service-Oriented-Architecture (SOA) and Event-driven Architecture (EDA) will become the main trend of application architecture of Real-Time Enterprise in the future. Although the combination of these two architectures can enhance an application system’s capabilities in response, integration and communication as a whole, it’s hardly to extend these two architectures’ complemented advantages unless there is a sound mechanism for advanced event and service management. This paper presents a novel methodology which can analyze the importance and impacts of events’ values to users. Based on different emphases on events’ values among users, this research can also develop a Customized Event Ontology Model used as the basis for filtering events for an individual user. The event management mechanism designs an intelligent agent in order to observe the records of a user’s history events and to learn new filtering rules of events. The mechanism can also suggest the user to cancelling events which are insignificant to him. Furthermore, this study devises a mechanism to bridge the connections between events and services. The contribution of my methodology aims to provide an advanced solution of combining the architectures of SOA and EDA in order for a user to exert up-to-date information for personalized competitive advantage.

Maschinenlesbare und -abrufbare Web Services werden zu Produktionsmodulen in einem globalen 'Factory Floor'. Ihre 'Orchestrierung' erlaubt die standardisierte Bildung von Modulen höherer Ordnung. Die dabei gebildeten Prozesse können die Wahl der einzubindenden Dienste via 'Discovery Agency' optimieren. Das Organisieren von Wertschöpfungssystemen wird damit zur modularen Programmierung im Grossen, der Abruf von Leistungen zum Aufruf und dynamischen Einbinden eines Moduls. Wird damit eine ideale Infrastruktur für die Virtualisierung der Organisationen verfügbar? Wir analysieren den Begriff der Organisation, einerseits aus Informatik-Optik als Multi-Agenten-Systeme, aber auch als soziales Gebilde mit den Begriffen der Institution und des Symbolischen und verbinden sie im Begriff des Mediums. Wir argumentieren, dass der gegenwärtige Stand der Web Services-Protokolle noch zu wenig Struktur für virtuelle Organisationen hat und zeigen, was zu ergänzen ist.

Παρόλο που το υπερκείμενο ως τρόπος δόμησης πληροφορίας τυγχάνει ευρείας αποδοχής, μέχρι σήμερα τα Συστήματα Υπερκειμένου (ΣΥ) δεν έχουν καταφέρει να προσφέρουν τη λειτουργικότητά τους στο ευρύ κοινό σε ικανοποιητικό βαθμό. Οι σχεδιαστικές προσεγγίσεις των ΣΥ αλλά και η αδυναμία υποστήριξης των προγραμματιστών ξένων εφαρμογών για τη χρήση των υπηρεσιών υπερκειμένου οδήγησαν σε μία δυσμενή κατάσταση όσο αφορά στην αποδοτική παροχή υπηρεσιών υπερκειμένου. Το πρόβλημα αυτό ανέδειξε την αναγκαιότητα για την επαναπροσέγγιση των σχεδιαστικών αρχών των ΣΥ έχοντας ως βασική προτεραιότητα τη δημιουργία και την εύκολη παροχή υπηρεσιών υπερκειμένου στο ευρύ κοινό. Η παρούσα διατριβή πραγματεύεται τη δημιουργία ενός πλαισίου για την παροχή υπηρεσιών υπερκειμένου σε ξένα συστήματα αλλά και την υποστήριξη της ανάπτυξης εφαρμογών διαδικτύου βασισμένες σε υπηρεσίες υπερκειμένου. Η υιοθέτηση της Αρχιτεκτονικής Προσανατολιζόμενης σε Υπηρεσίες – ΑΠΥ στο σχεδιασμό των ΣΥ αποτέλεσε την προτεινόμενη προσέγγιση της διατριβής. Η ανάπτυξη συστημάτων υπερκειμένου βασισμένα σε αρχές της ΑΠΥ αλλά και η παροχή υπηρεσιών υπερκειμένου στο διαδίκτυο με χρήση παγκοσμίων προτύπων επιχειρούν να διευκολύνουν την εκμετάλλευση της λειτουργικότητας των ΣΥ από χρήστες και από άλλα συστήματα. Έχοντας ως παράδειγμα υπάρχοντα ΑΣΥ αλλά και συστήματα υπερμέσων βασισμένα σε ψηφίδες (ΑΣΥ-ΒΨ) - όπως ο Callimachus - μελετήθηκε και χρησιμοποιήθηκε η τεχνική των Web Services έτσι ώστε να είναι δυνατή η παροχή στο διαδίκτυο υπηρεσιών υπερμέσων διαφόρων λειτουργικών πεδίων (ταξινομίες, χωρική αναπαράσταση, πλοήγηση κ.α.) από υπάρχοντα συστήματα. Σημείο αναφοράς της εφαρμογής της προτεινόμενης τεχνικής υπήρξε το σύστημα Babylon. Το Babylon είναι ένα σύστημα παροχής υπηρεσιών ταξινόμησης, το οποίο σχεδιάστηκε και κατασκευάστηκε ως ψηφίδα του συστήματος Callimachus και κατόπιν μετεξελίχθηκε σε αυτόνομη υπηρεσία παγκόσμιου ιστού (Web Service). Επιπλέον, αναπτύχθηκε ένα σύστημα υποστήριξης συνεργασίας και λήψης αποφάσεων βασισμένο σε τεχνολογίες συστημάτων χωρικού υπερκειμένου και υπερκειμένου υποστήριξης επιχειρηματολογίας. Η ανάπτυξη έγινε εξ’ολοκλήρου βασισμένη στις αρχές της αρχιτεκτονικής προσανατολιζόμενης σε υπηρεσίες και η εκμετάλλευση των υπηρεσιών του είναι δυνατή τόσο μέσω του παγκοσμίου ιστού όσο και από εξωτερικές εφαρμογές χρησιμοποιώντας εξειδικευμένα Web Services. Τέλος, μελετήθηκε η δυνατότητα ανακάλυψης και αναζήτησης των υπηρεσιών υπερμέσων μέσα από ένα ολοκληρωμένο πλαίσιο υποστήριξης ανάπτυξης εφαρμογών που χρησιμοποιούν υπηρεσίες υπερκειμένου. Με την εφαρμογή της προτεινόμενης προσέγγισης και την αξιολόγηση της χρήσης των συστημάτων παράχθηκαν θετικά συμπεράσματα όσο αφορά στην αξιοποίηση των ΑΠΥ σε συστήματα υπερμέσων και με τον τρόπο αυτό τεκμηριώθηκε η χρησιμότητα της συνολικής προσέγγισης. / Although hypertext is considered as a widely accepted mean for information structuring, the provision of hypertext-related services has not yet reached a satisfactory level. Both the design principles of hypertext systems and the lack of developer support for the exploitation of hypermedia services lead to a low level of provision of the hypertext functionality from the world. This problem has highlighted the need for re-approaching the design principles of HSs under a different perspective in which the creation and the provision of a hypermedia service are crucial issues. This thesis focuses on the development of a framework aiming at both the provision of hypermedia service and the web application development support using hypermedia functionality. The adoption of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) in the design of Hypermedia Systems (OHS) constitutes the main approach against the particular issue. The SOA based implementation of HSs together with the the provision of hypermedia services to the Internet through universal standards try to aid the exploitation of the hypermedia functionality from an open set of both users and systems. The OHSs together with the Component Based – OHSs (CB-OHSs) like Callimachus were the leading paradigm in this approach in which the web-service technique was both studied and adopted in order to provide to the Internet hypermedia services based on different hypermedia fields (taxonomic, spatial, navigational etc) provided by existing systems. The case study of this approach regards the Babylon system. It is a hypertext system designed to provide taxonomic services in the context of the entire Callimachus system as a single component. The Babylon system was later transformed to a taxonomic internet based service using the Web Service standards. Furthermore, a collaboration and decision making support tool based on spatial and argumentation support technologies was also implemented. The development was entirely based on SOA thus the provided services are available both from users or applications of the world wide web and 3rd party (external) applications by using the Web Services protocols. Finally, a study which concerns capabilities of discovering and searching of the hypermedia services has also taken place. The evaluation of the proposed approach extracted many positive conclusions regarding the utilization of SOA in the area of hypermedia systems.

Semantically-enriched and semi-autonomous collaboration framework for the Web of Things : design, implementation and evaluation of a multi-party collaboration framework with semantic annotation and representation of sensors in the Web of Things and a case study on disaster management

This thesis proposes a collaboration framework for the Web of Things based on the concepts of Service-oriented Architecture and integrated with semantic web technologies to offer new possibilities in terms of efficient asset management during operations requiring multi-actor collaboration. The motivation for the project comes from the rise in disasters where effective cross-organisation collaboration can increase the efficiency of critical information dissemination. Organisational boundaries of participants as well as their IT capability and trust issues hinders the deployment of a multi-party collaboration framework, thereby preventing timely dissemination of critical data. In order to tackle some of these issues, this thesis proposes a new collaboration framework consisting of a resource-based data model, resource-oriented access control mechanism and semantic technologies utilising the Semantic Sensor Network Ontology that can be used simultaneously by multiple actors without impacting each other’s networks and thus increase the efficiency of disaster management and relief operations. The generic design of the framework enables future extensions, thus enabling its exploitation across many application domains. The performance of the framework is evaluated in two areas: the capability of the access control mechanism to scale with increasing number of devices, and the capability of the semantic annotation process to increase in efficiency as more information is provided. The results demonstrate that the proposed framework is fit for purpose.

Em busca deste objetivo, e visando uma melhor compreensão do tema, estudos teóricos foram desenvolvidos abordando os seguintes assuntos: Arquitetura de Software, Gerenciamento de Processos de Negócio (BPM) e Arquiteturas Orientadas a Serviços (SOA). A partir do referencial teórico e de um grupo de foco – composto por seis profissionais experientes em SOA – oito hipóteses foram levantadas, representando os principais benefícios atribuídos a estas arquiteturas. Um questionário foi então preparado e, a partir dele, 66 respostas válidas foram obtidas. Os resultados foram analisados utilizando-se de estatísticas descritivas e dos testes estatísticos não-paramétricos de Wilcoxon e qui-quadrado, buscando a validação, ou rejeição, das hipóteses apresentadas. Como resultado, em suma, percebe-se que, apesar da recente adoção das SOAs pelas empresas brasileiras, parece haver uma consonância entre seus profissionais de TI quanto aos benefícios desta nova abordagem para projetos de tecnologia da informação. Evidencia-se também a grande importância de disciplinas como governança e planejamento para a garantia do sucesso na implantação de projetos baseados nestas arquiteturas. / This work has as main objective the analysis of the IT professionals’ perception about the benefits of service-oriented architectures (SOA). To achieve this goal, and looking for a better comprehension on the subject, theoretical aspects were developed on the following topics: software architecture, business process management (BPM) and service-oriented architecture (SOA). As a consequence of the theoretical development and a focus group – composed by six experienced SOA professionals – eight hypotheses were raised, representing the main benefits attributed to these architectures. A survey was prepared and 66 valid answers were obtained. The results were analyzed using statistical tests (Wilcoxon and chi square) and descriptive statistics, looking for the proof, or rejection, of the presented hypotheses. As result, in short, it is noticed that, in spite of the recent adoption of SOA in the Brazilian market, its benefits seem to be clear for the IT professionals. Disciplines like governance and planning were presented by participants as very important issues for a well-succeed SOA.

The approach is divided into two stages: Domain Engineering (DE) and Application Engineering (AE). In DE, a metamodel, services and Transformations for Model-To-Code are constructed. The metamodel expresses the abstract syntax of Domain-Specific Languages (DSL) for a given problem domain and services - known as the Domain Services - meet common requirements of different applications of the problem domain for which the metamodel has been built, and Transformations for Model- To-Code to reduce the development effort since most of the coding tasks can be encapsulated in the transformations. In EA, applications are built by instantiating the metamodel in order to support the modeling and by reusing Domain Services. In addition, the transformations, built in ED, are applied to the models in order to generate most of the application code. The reuse of the artifacts built in ED provides a productivity gain in the development of applications of the problem domain considered. For evaluation purposes, the proposed approach has been instantiated in the HealthCare Domain. An experimentation of this approach, following the experimental methodology, has been conducted in order to evaluate its impact on the efficiency of teams that develop applications for Healthcare Domain. The results showed that the use of the proposed approach has contributed to the reduction of time in developing mobile applications. / Essa dissertação apresenta uma abordagem para o Desenvolvimento de Aplicações Móveis que enfatiza o Reúso de Software com base na Modelagem Específica de Domínio e na Arquitetura Orientada a Serviços. A abordagem é dividida em duas etapas: Engenharia de Domínio (ED) e Engenharia da Aplicação (EA). Na ED são construídos: um metamodelo, que expressa a sintaxe abstrata de uma Linguagem Específica de Domínio de um dado domínio do problema; serviços denominados Serviços do Domínio que atendem aos requisitos comuns de diferentes aplicações do domínio do problema para o qual o metamodelo foi construído; e Transformações Modelo-para- Código para reduzir o esforço de desenvolvimento, uma vez que grande parte das tarefas de codificação pode ser encapsulada nas transformações. Na EA são construídas aplicações instanciando-se o metamodelo para apoio à modelagem, bem como reutilizando os Serviços do Domínio. Além disso, as Transformações, construídas na ED, são aplicadas sobre os modelos para gerar grande parte do código das aplicações. O reúso dos artefatos construídos na ED proporciona um ganho de produtividade no desenvolvimento das aplicações do domínio do problema considerado. Para fins de avaliação, a abordagem proposta foi instanciada no domínio de Cuidado de Saúde (Healthcare). Uma experimentação da abordagem, seguindo a metodologia experimental, foi conduzida com o intuito de avaliar seu impacto na eficiência de equipes desenvolvendo aplicações para esse domínio. Os resultados evidenciaram que o uso da abordagem proposta colaborou para a redução de tempo no desenvolvimento de aplicações móveis.

Apesar de algumas dificuldades ainda existentes no hardware, como poder de processamento limitado e utilizações de baterias, pesquisas indicam que no ano de 2016 mais de 6,4 bilhões de dispositivos estarão conectados. A alta diversidade destes aparelhos cria a necessidade de infraestruturas capazes de lidar com dispositivos altamente heterogêneos e suas limitações de hardware. Neste trabalho propõe-se uma arquitetura orientada a serviços para integrar dispositivos na Internet das Coisas e resolver grande parte dos problemas que essa integração ocasiona. A partir desta arquitetura, serviços e aplicações poderão acessar sensores e atuadores através da web utilizando modelos de dados definidos a partir de padrões na Internet. O gerenciamento dos nós conectados a esta infraestrutura é realizado a partir de um middleware conectado a dispositivos ou gateways para a tradução de informações na tecnologia de comunicação utilizada (ie. Bluetooth, ZigBee, entre outros). Esta proposta foi avaliada com o desenvolvimento de um middleware baseado na especificação UPnP e uma aplicação Android para simulação dos dados de sensores. Resultados do experimento demonstram a viabilidade de utilização da arquitetura proposta na Integração com aplicações, serviços e outras arquiteturas disponíveis na Internet através da web e modelos de dados padronizados. / The vision of Internet of Things enabled the development of a diverse range of applications and service not possible before due to a number of limitations. Despite some remaining problems still exists on hardware, such as limited processing power and battery usage, researches indicates that in 2016, more than 6.4 billion devices will be connected. The high diversity of the sedevices creates the need of a infrastructure capable of managing high ly heterogeneous devices and their hardware limitations. This work proposes an service-oriented architecture to integrate Io Tdevices and solvemostissues that this integration brings. Using this architecture, services and applications will be able to access sensors and actuators from the web using data models from repositories on the Internet. The management of connected devices is performed by a middleware that can be connected directly to the devices or through gateways that can translate information to the communication technology used (ie. Bluetooth, ZigBee, and others). This proposal was evaluated with the development of a middleware based on the UPnP specification and an Android application to simulate sensor data. Results from this evaluation shows the feasibility of the solution with the integration with applications, services and other architectures available on the Internet through the web using the same data model.

BPM4services: framework dirigido a modelos para automação de processos de negócios

Organizations are increasingly aware of the importance of defining and managing their processes. That is why the Business Process Management (BPM) has evolved over the last few years. Concepts such as Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) help in the approximation between business and technology make easier communicating and understanding the real business needs. In addition, the Model Driven Engineering (MDE) paradigm promotes model-based software creation, which aims to increase developing platform-independent solutions productivity with lower implementation costs. In this context, this work presents BPM4Services, a model driven framework for the processes automation based on a Service Oriented Architecture. The framework intends to guide the development of solutions oriented to efficient and standardized processes, integrating concepts of BPM, SOA and MDE. An analysis of the BPM4Services, through an example, was performed in a Neonatal Screening process at the Hospital Universitário at Universidade Federal de Sergipe, demonstrating the use and viability of the framework. / Organizações estão cada vez mais conscientes da importância da definição e gerenciamento de seus processos, dessa forma, a Gestão de Processos de Negócio (Business Process Management - BPM) tem evoluído ao longo dos últimos anos. Conceitos como Arquiteturas Orientadas a Serviços (Service Oriented Architecure - SOA) auxiliam na aproximação entre negócio e tecnologia, facilitando a comunicação e entendimento das reais necessidades do negócio. Adicionalmente, o paradigma Model Driven Engineering (MDE) promove a criação de softwares baseados em modelos, o qual visa aumentar a produtividade no desenvolvimento de soluções independentes de plataformas e com um menor custo de implementação. Nesse contexto, este trabalho apresenta o BPM4Services, um framework dirigido a modelos para automação de processos de negócio baseado em uma Arquitetura Orientada a Serviços.
